    The major name brand saws have 2 be feeling the impact of the cloned saw sells. Will they do anything about it or will the clones slowly take their place? I think the clones are going 2 take over the market within the next 5yrs. With the exception of the DB Fresh people of course.👍🆙D

      @dubbssawshop  Před rokem +2

      Hahaha, DB Fresh People 😆 I agree tho, clones are here to stay and I think if the big names want to stay in the game, they gonna have to better on their pricing. New saw prices are just plain stupid. No other way to put it. Who would have dreamed a saw would be priced at $1800-$2,000.

      It definitely punches above its class. 👍🏻it is the oem P&C. Stock bore and stroke, even has the stock carb and filter right now. Has been Ported, timing advanced, and swapped to .325 chain. There's more in it I think with a carb swap, filter swap and machine work.

  • @Mr2eyedjack
    @Mr2eyedjack Před 9 měsíci +1

    I bought one when they first co.e out Fter seeing some video on it. I put a 18" bar with .325 chain. Also added the filter up grade. I seen where you could put a bigger carb and get more out of it. Buts its a fun little saw for the $!

    • @dubbssawshop
      @dubbssawshop  Před 9 měsíci

      They for sure are fun and great little saws for the money. There is an intake adapter on ebay for about $15/$20 that allows you to adapt a 372xp carb. Works ok but mine had an air leak and i took it off and went back with the stock set up. Heck that's good enough for me. Bit of timing advance and remove the base gasket and you have a ripper. 👍🏻

    • @Mr2eyedjack
      @Mr2eyedjack Před 9 měsíci +1

      Now I think I'll do the carb swap and gasket delete. I looked at a Echo 4910 yesterday. I think I'll buy another 5800 save some $ and have a better saw.

    • @dubbssawshop
      @dubbssawshop  Před 9 měsíci

      @@Mr2eyedjack the 4910 is a great saw too, they are phasing them out for the newer 4920 and it's a clamshell saw. The 4910 is full pro style saw. Either way you go tho, it'll be a good decision. The 4910 would definitely have to be ported tho, stock they just suck.

    Maybe one day I’ll try another joncutter. I already had the 3800. And that was the worst clone saw I’ve ever had. Always something breaking on it (like the mount to hold the coil. Which is part of the case on the 3800) 😅

    I didn't see a port video? I don't have a lathe. How much can I do (my 5800 has been awesome so far) without machine work? Did you do a video showing the cylinder? Maybe just a gasket delete (haven't measured squish yet), muffler mod, and minor clean up of intake and transfers, and raise and widen the exhaust a very small amount? I mean, they run pretty good out of the box?!!!

    • @dubbssawshop
      @dubbssawshop  Před rokem

      It was before I really got comfort with the YT thing, they actually run well stock like you said, this one has no machine work because I didn't have my lathe set up then, and it runs very good like it is. I did a base gasket delete, smoothed up the rough stuff, widened the exhaust just a tad, and I believe it's set around 100 atdc, the intake was roughed up and matched to the intake adapter, and I believe it's at 80 btdc, didn't mess with the transfers, and did a timing advance(probably 3-5 degrees), opened up the baffle in the muffler, and the biggest gain was swapping it to .325 Narrow Kerf chain, makes for a ripper. Squish is about .043" after the gasket delete. You can't go far machining them due to skirt height, they will Freeport pretty quickly, not the end of the world but not recommended either. 👍🏻

      @@dubbssawshop Thanks so much. Really appreciate it. Yeah, mine came with a 20" bar and .325 on it, which I think is perfect. I think I'll do the exact same thing as you, because ... well, yeah, it runs pretty good stock ... but, yours runs better, and why not.

      Base gasket delete, timing advance, and ports were cleaned of cast flash, intake roughed up and exhaust smoothed but not polished. Port timing was changed maybe 1 degree due to cleaning. Just very mild port work, nothing crazy.

      @dubbssawshop  Před rokem +1

      @Brian Kinzer it's a tad complicated to put Into words. Look up mweba1 timing advance on YT and that'll give you an idea. That's the proper way. Or you can just grind a bit off the key and roll it forward an 1/8" or so and try it. If it kicks back you went to far, dont go very far at all. A little goes a long ways.
