- Video has surfaced of the two Virginia Tech students arrested for the murder of 13-year-old Nicole Lovell before the brutal crimes were committed. David Eisenhauer and Natalie Keepers are now behind bars. Lovell met Eisenhauer on a dating website for teens. Last Tuesday she ran away from home. Virginia Tech engineering students used drones to look for the teen. Little did the volunteer drone operators know, students from their own engineering department were allegedly involved in her murder. #InsideEdition

Who cares what they did before, they're both sick individuals.
No one cares. But it was relevant to show that it's not always that "weird, loner" kid that may be mentally unstable with homocidal tendencies. One may think you're "safe" with someone because they're a known althlete or academic. But that doesn't guarantee they're not sick and twistes, etc. I think it's important. If we were just shown the mug shots i would think "typical, they look like junkies or thugs" because of their physical appearance in the mug snots. But no one would have guessed how they looked like before. Just a regular looking kid.

Crazy how this was my brother’s best friend growing up. I was raised with David and his sister, we went to the same church. You never know how people will turn out or the decisions they will make. I remember my parents bringing us into the living room one day, then talking about what had happened. It crushed my brother.

+malcolm brown Actually, I think she's the one that blew this whole thing open. My theory? This guy was bullied constantly growing up. His supposed "unnamed roommate", who apparently refused to even casually socialize with him, may have been what broke this guy. The roommate saying this guy was a loner, etc. was all an act. The truth? (And you know it is.) Whether he wanted more love or not, the murderer was clearly bullied in college, whether it be "shunning" or otherwise. He COULDN'T be anything but a loner! I know the feeling. It's like you're a virtual prisoner. It's impossible to move up, no matter how hard you try. Now, I think he was desperate for attention, especially from a female, so he hooked her (I think she was high, to be honest) and for whatever reason she must have digged this guy. But that's where he screwed up. If he really wanted to murder someone, he shouldn't have gotten her involved. If he hadn't, he would have evaded police a little longer. Not forever, clearly, with all of the electronic records. That's why serial killers are so rare now adays; everyone's connected, everyone can fairly be easily traced. A little scary, if you think about it. In a way, he wasn't so different than the girl he killed, except he was more mature and not as deranged as she was. He did "prey" on her. She had "maniacal parents"; likely he did as well.

This is incredibly sad. She had been through so many difficult hurdles in her life, only to be killed by a person that she trusted.
I know that there is evil in this world, but it brings so much sadness when such an evil person meets with such an innocent human being.
She only wanted acceptance, but instead she found a preditor that preyed upon her desire for acceptance, using it as an opportunity get something that he wanted.
My heart goes out to her family. I am so very sorry for your loss. I know that justice can not bring her back, but those who did this must pay.
Well, I do agree that I made assumptions in what I had written. First, I had assumed the guilt of the accused man. No person is guilty until convicted in a courtroom with the application of due process. Second, I do not know all of the facts involved, and I only know what has been presented in the media. Unfortunately, the only two people that knew all of facts are the accused man and the deceased girl.
But, for the sake of discussion, let's assume that he did kill her, and let's also assume that the information thats been realeased in the media is correct... Otherwise there's not much to discuss.
Now, lets make another assumption, that this girl was going to expose their relationship, and that the he knew of her intention. This would create all the necessary legal elements of premeditated murder: Motive, a body, and a weapon...
In this case, would it really matter if she were a 13 year old innocent girl or a 13 year old promiscuous girl. Murdering a person, unless commited in the act of self defense, is not justifiable.
If we place the responsibility on the murdered person, then all murder becomes justifiable, even the stoning of women in the middle east for committing adultery would somehow become justifiable. We cannot have a world where we can simply kill a person because it suits our needs.
Now, I see a completely different dilemma. The problem that I see is the societal pressure that may have contributed to his motive to kill her. If she had exposed their relationship, he may have been convicted of statutory rape. He would then be labeled as a sex offender for his remaining life. A horrible fate. This is the dilemma. In his mind, he had to choose between two possible futures: statutory rape or murder (with a chance of not being caught.) But, again, he was aware of this reality before he formed his relationship with her, and so he created his dilemma, and he is responsible.
Perhaps there is a lack of harmony between the written law and reality of sexual behavior. Maybe the girl would still be alive if the consequences for having this relationship were not as harsh... Something to consider... But, given what happened, he cared more about himself than he ever cared for her, and he deserves to suffer the consequences.
