- The teenage football player accused of killing his cheerleader girlfriend was found guilty in a Tennessee court this week. Former Division III college football player William Riley Gaul was convicted of first-degree murder after he shot his then-16-year-old girlfriend, Emma Walker, to death in November 2016 while she was in bed in her Knoxville home. Gaul, 19, immediately was given a mandatory sentence of life in prison without possibility of parole for 51 years, after the verdict came down. #InsideEdition

Yeah. I got scarred with what was supposed to be my hs sweetheart. But I couldn't imagine killing or hurting her. Even if she did what she did to me. This young man wasn't given a education in the game by his father, uncle, cousins, or grandpa. They were supposed to teach him that there's someone else out there for him and that he's too young to be in love. That he needs to focus on himself first before that.

This happens so often when someone tries to break off a relationship. Although teens aren't taught the proper skills to deal with these situations. Life goes on after a break up as painful as it maybe. It's not a game and in life you sometimes lose, it doesn't matter if you have the whole support of the town behind you. It doesn't matter that a young teenage boy can have any girl he wants, he just can stand to lose. Control becomes an issue that escalates into murder. Parents need to teach their teenagers that breaking up with someone doesn't mean it's the end of the world, you move on in life. And it's better if it happens now before things become more serious, example a marriage proposal. Parents also need to stop making choices for their teenagers. It's bad when a parent tells their teens this is your life partner, you need to marry this individual she will bring you lasting happiness. The amount of pressure your teen will feel trying not to disappoint their parents is insane. So teach your teens that breaking up is ok, help them deal with the pain. And tell them that there will be someone who will truly love them someday, and they have a long time to find that person, being that they're so young. This might help prevent another horrible murder, as a parent we have to try our best to help our teen navigate their life. In this case a sixteen year old girl lost her life because her ex boyfriend couldn't stand not having her in his life. I hope he gets serious jail time for murdering her. Her entire family will never see their daughter again alive because of the selfish teenage ex boyfriend who couldn't live without her.
