- Dorothy Connor is still grieving for her son, a University of Vermont freshman who died of hypothermia last year. Surveillance cameras caught his final moments in subzero temperatures. He was wearing neither a hat nor gloves. Dorothy now shares her son’s story at schools, in the hopes that others may avoid her son’s fate. She urges students to always wear a coat. “When you leave to go out with your friends, you come back with the same friends,” she added #InsideEdition

Caylee He wasn’t asleep. This happened to me once. I drank so much I passed out outside on the patio, I was fully conscious and laid out on the ground. But I couldn’t move even 3 feet to get inside, it was it was one of the coldest nights in Canada and I was shivering like crazy and remember thinking I’m gonna die if I don’t get inside. Anyway after about an hour contemplating mustering enough strength to crawl a few feet I finally made it inside. It took everything out of me. And That was only a few feet, I also remember laying there and thinking about all the people I’ve heard about that froze to death outside while they were “passed out” drunk. Realizing they were most likely fully conscious just to incapacitated to move. Sad to think about. Anyway I decided that night not to ever touch another sip of alcohol and I haven’t since.

@Jessica Smith you can be fine without gloves or a hat. He was intoxicated, and tried climbing over a fence. He was too tired and just fell in the snow. The problem was not wearing a jacket, the problem was he was drunk in the cold where he passed out. That's what killed him

@Jessica Smith then say to wear gloves and a hat and properly bundle. Saying wear a coat when he is wearing one and the video is all about wearing a coat yet he is wearing one is pointless. Shouldnt she be saying wear gloves, hat and bundle up oh and maybe not get drunk and get better friends. No this is about wearing a coat. Its in the title yet he is wearing one. Eh a little bit biased, telling them to devote more of their time to school will make them see you as a typical adult who tells them to focus on school depending if they had a career or not.
Maybe instead of not wearing a coat being the issue they should focus on not drinking so much as this was the real culprit behind his death.
