"we gave you the beetles, the spice girls and one direction. But did you know that the UK also has a heck of a lot of hip hop talent , or should I say Brit-hop "
Me:"no , no you shouldn't "
*beAtles
I know you can't list everyone, so I'd like to shout out to my favourite UK hip hop artists: FOREIGN BEGGARS. They cross dubstep, drum n bass and hip hop together into a lovely bass heavy blend.
And skepta didn't make it?
Because Skepta is mostly grime I reckon
+Melusi Dube she still mentioned Dizzee and Wiley
+Abarnan Koneswaran JME as well..
+Melusi Dube cmon grime to hip hop ss like jazz to blues
Blaise The Ultimate
I see what you mean
I would love to see more videos from you guys. You are great!!!!
Interesting video! I hadn't heard of a couple of these people, and others were more well-known than I thought.
Akala (!!!). Also, Lady Sovereign, Shystie, No Lay. UK got some wicked female MCs.
+Demian Haki Can't believe Lady Sovereign got left out. Anybody else get into Shystie after Dubplate Drama?
+Joseph Foulger Roots Manuva.
+Demian Haki you had me at Akala, you lost me at Lady Sovereign
Make way for tha S.O.V.!!!!!!!!!!!
Who's No Lay? (BTW: I'm American)
great video, great accent and great and very good looking story teller. :-) post more please.
Wow, she matches her background exactly. Her hair matches the sort of beige circles on the wall paper behind her, while her eyes and eye-shadow match the green, her lipstick matches the red, and her shirt matches the black. Very interesting.
I just really enjoy listening to your speaking. :)
I've seen Lady SOV twice and met her in the mall for before performance meet n greet. After show party too! She is sassy talented!
That was enlightening!
It might get sidelined as novelty, but I love chap-hop, hip-hop as performed from a sarcastic Victorian/Georgian point of view, exemplified by the now-resolved beef between Mr. B the Gentleman Rhymer ("Piece of My Mind") and Professor Elemental ("Fighting Trousers")
Can you do northern slang? It would be a nice change to the usual slang videos and quite funny
My favorite British rapper is Professor Elemental . . . not that I expected he'd get a shout-out here, of course. As for Professor Green, I've never heard his music, but I enjoyed watching him on "Never Mind the Buzzcocks". :-D
I've never heard of any of these people lol.
+Butter Pecan Rican No offence but have you been living under a rock?
+Butter Pecan Rican i think ive heard of 2 lol
+Butter Pecan Rican not even M.I.A.?!
+Butter Pecan Rican Try listening to Zane Lowe or Julie Adenuga on Beats 1
+onlyzeros nah only wiley is really the only famous one tbh
Lady Leshurr. Chipmunk love!
+Frank Wenzel yeeeeeaaa
Jme is my favourite
I'm in the US, but I have heard of a few of these from Never Mind The Buzzcocks.
You should do a video on British quiz shows/panel shows. Like Buzzcocks (RIP), Mock the Week, QI, and Only Connect
Kate Arnell talking about hip-hop is everything
Some of these are so well known in England that I've never thought that they wouldn't be in America yet!
yas, Pro Green! I was expecting him!
My favorite one is RAMESES B, as WIKI says -- a Leeds, Yorkshire, (Drum and bass, Dubstep, Chillout, Electro)
Thank you, teacher, for the lesson on clear pronunciation! ☺
Thanks for inadvertently teaching me how to pronounce Cluedo. Wasn't sure whether it was clue-dough or clue-doo.
No mention of chap hop? mr b. Professor elemental and reginald pikedevant esq. rapping about british things in the queens english.
dizzee rascal has always had my heart
Rizzle Kicks has always been fun to listen to
Being from the U.S., don't know many, but def like Tinie Tempah & The Streets! N-Dubz is interesting & DDark will be big everywhere some day, imo.
I just love the hostess! Such a charming lady!
I like Lady Leshur! She's a really good UK rapper!
I've just finished watching one of her vids
You also give us Trip Hop :p
(and for a change, us French manage to bring some French touch in Trip Hop ! :D )
What about Roots Manuva, MF Doom and Wretch 32?!? Kind of weird that nobody mentioned them
Harry Shotta is the man. Kingpin and Shay D are some of my favourite ones as well.
Really like the video but where's N-Dubz?
This video is well dench.
You're just too adorable in your presentations :)
...seriously, no scroobius pip?
+. NEONHALO It's spoken word, not rap.
+Doktar Hoo The Streets can be considered spoken word...
I had forgotten about The streets!!
Nice
only heard of M.I.A because of Paper Planes. that came out my freshman year of high school... seems so long ago lol
When one britthish movie (kings men) comes out in the U.S. Everton goes to look up the song (bonkers)
there's a song of Plan B called "choca" it's amazing and gorgeous. They are a reggaeton band
professor elemental, dizraeli, teej, mr b the gentlemen rhymer
Yes! Mr B is awesome, how did he not get a mention?
Please, help me the Word phenia, from wich Word is that from. I do know it. But right know my mind are standing completely still.
what is the orchestral in the background at approximately 4:30? :)
How did Professor Elemental not make the list
What about Foreign Beggars and/or Four Owls!
can you do a music video again, but for rock/metal artists?
Could you maybe do once a video on british series( on tv)
please? :)
check out Borris Bike! you will not be disappointed. XD
This is a list of uk pop music that my mum likes on the telly. How's life in london
Would be nice if you added some small samples of their music after the introduction
My favorites are MIA and Lady sovereign
As well as all of Boy Better Know. Like Skepta and JME. Lethal Bizzle, too
And Lady Leshurr
When are you posting more videos?
How can you forget The Four Owls or the High Focus Records entirely? DJ Premier mate a collab with them, that is pretty hip hop to me! ;)
Is the video out of focus when they zoom into Kate´s face? Or am i going crazy?
Where is Little T
Love Kano as well
I was wondering if Plan B will appear on this list and I was not disappointed :)
I was on road when dizzee made i luv u u u
love green
Devlin is the British eminem not prof green
Don't forget chaz and Dave. They rock!
tinie tempah is my favorite. I don't know the others
Can you do an episode about The Nolans???
The Streets!!!
I am sad that Scroobius Pip was left out of this. Though I do not know if he is mainstream enough.
Reading these comments 6 years on is very interesting.
Your next video should be about the difference between the Commonwealth and the Empire
I was looking forward to hearing Kate rap in the video, but then again that would just look awkward for obvious reasons.
Ayyy man dizzee rascal is the BEST
What about Rizzle Kicks?
Now we need a Jungle episode. Or is that subject too massive?
I thought "Professor Green" was short for "Professor Greenblatt".
Only heard of M.I.A...Paper Planes song is quite nice...
Does Great Britain have Halloween? Is it like ours in the states? Could you do an episode on British Halloween?
Grace Scanlon
You do?? We trick or treat and go to parties too! Cuz ive seen like, a two dozen christmas episodes and specials of various british shows in my lifetime, but Ive never seen a halloween episode before. Maybe its just none of the shows Ive seen. Downton Abbey needs a halloween episode...
+sirdaveysockrocker We do. I'm not sure is Halloween even existed in the times of Downtown Abbey but I'd like to see on too.
Perhaps not so mainstream, but check Dan le Sac vs Scroobious Pimp
British rock and metal please.
AmiBorg yes
England=wearing my Rolex America=Rolex by ayo and tayo.
British music just like comedy is very specific.
Brill video
cant believe goldie looking chain wasnt mentioned i mean ... damn
I saw dizee rascal at Glastonbury...
I like Dan Bull myself. The one true Dragonborn!!
I was hoping she'd mention plan b cos he's my favourite I also have the album that she mentioned. I'm British and even I didn't realise some of the big rappers that I knew where British 0_0
kate tempest is very good! also MIA...
woman rocks in UK!
Stormyz!!!
with the Beetles you get a +1, but with the Spice Girls it evens out to 0, and One Direction immediately drops the counter to -6000. I don't know how to make up for that, but you still got top gear...
Should mention Chap Hop, can't be more british than that !
I love pro green and plan b
Just do us a favor and keep N Dubz on that side of the pond. We're still having a difficult time forgiving you lot for Cher Lloyd.
+dantesinporno We don't want them back. France can take them.
PLEASE RESPOND! Okay so she mentioned the first guy is the British equivalent to Eminem but.......anybody know the British equivalent to Drake??? Or any of a lot of the American rappers...??
Gotta say, sad that Scroobius Pip wasn't mentioned!
Akala, Skepta, any of the High Focus roster, Little Simz, Kojey Radical, Hawk House, Rejjie Snow (technically Irish), step up your game Anglophenia, props for including Young Fathers though.
More like 'Straight Outta Compton, Surrey!'
Ill Manors sounds like the most English movie title ever
Mate, Rizzle Kicks, Scroobius Pip, Skepta, Akala, so many grats missed out...
Can you make video about British mums and American mums
Am I the only one here who waited for her to mention Daz Sampson? lol
What about Boy Better Know and the rest of the grime scene taking over?
