They are afraid of the Trump base and are probably thinking forward to the 2022 mid-terms and want to keep those seats as it looks like they will regain their majority in the Senate this time and are hoping to flip Congress and they will do it by blocking Joe's agenda and then blame Joe for not getting anything done. If that sounds familiar it's because Republicans in the Senate did the same thing with Obama.
We could be facing a global economic meltdown soon and Joe will have to inherit that as Obama did and if Democrats are blocked because the Senate won't pass anything that anger will arise once again and there will be a Trump 2.0 waiting in the wings to run as the GOP candidate for 2024 and he or she could be worse than Trump.
You think those Trump supporters will go away quietly? No they won't. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that base will be up for grabs on the right and this where a Trump 2.0 could emerge and make Trump look pale in comparison.
If Biden ignores the working class, young people and does not fix what went wrong with him losing support among blacks and Hispanics and Latinos then the danger is a Trump 2.0 could win the
      White House in 2024.
I have no confidence in Biden even acknowledging what the Dems did wrong this time and why that landslide victory never came to pass and why the blue wave that would supposed to sweep the country never came to pass either. Remember Dems wouldn't even do an autopsy report of what went wrong in
2024 and instead blamed Russia, Jill Stein and Bernie for Hillary losing.

This is moving. The best I have heard from Stephen Colbert. Passion, dignity and authenticity. Watching from the UK, I have been sad about the division we see, in the US, UK, and elsewhere. I really hope that we can find the best in ourselves after this.

+Zeez Sleep ~ Our current situation, both here in US and, I believe, in UK, rests at the feet of Murdoch and his sprawling media, spreading disinformation, division, and paranoid delusion. This has been going on for decades, DT merely stumbled into a perfect storm. Murdoch needs be held accountable, and his deathgrip on US media must end.

@@spammyhell6566 Agree totally, try viewing Sky News Australia, Murdochs home ground, its rabidly pro Trump and his lies. Sky News UK is not nearly as bad, they realise we’re rather against that sort of rabble rousing, but still definitely gutter press.

Fact is election is not so close, Biden has over 4 million votes more than the incumbent, it is not close! The 19th century constitution amendment created the Electoral College and since then five times, five times a candidate won the popular vote and lost the election, three of them in 19th century and two of them in the 21st century. Time to retire such old and unfair system that only causes a mess like the one we are witnessing, and finally gets to the future.

Coming back to this today. It is amazing to reflect on how poorly the Republican Party at all levels, from Congress to the rank & file, failed to act at any point then or since in the best interests of the United States. Failing to live up to the ideals of the Founding Fathers and a Constitution they so love to quote.
