Writen several articles about Bill Maher. He has always been one I liked to hear a perspective from. i don't always agree, but I always get entertained and I learn a lot. I could not ask for more.
My mother got me into Bill Maher in the 80’s - I certainly have watched Real Time its whole run. I am Bill’s age, a woman and fellow transplanted Californian. Don’t agree with everything he says, but most of it. He makes you think about the other side, which we really need to do. Especially now. I tape the show and it’s one of the highlights of my week to put it on & watch. I miss it during its hiatus. I hope he keeps doing Real Time…

The problem with Bill is he's stuck in the "I'm an old white guy that hasn't changed with the times" syndrome. He may claim to be on the "left" but his bias against trans people, young people and his often polarizing views on the Islamic faith is both hypocritical and bigoted. Many who don't know how to live in a changing society can relate to Bill's constant hackneyed whining that's become more and more prevalent in recent years and also, he isn't funny.
Me too, except the California transplant. Love his show in spite of sometimes hating it or his guests but he makes me think and so do many of his guests. I agree that the Left has gone off the cliff with extremes and live in as much of a bubble of bias as many on the far right. It's very frustrating; I'm glad he's speaking out about it. Somebody other than Fox et al has to.
He's AGAINST medicare for all. He's a moron. And a grifter.

That is so true. Each week, I get more repulsed by him, his smugness, and how he allows people to disseminate crap on his show. And when a serious guest comes on--one _not_ selling a book--that knows something and wanting to have a serious discussion, he interrupts them. For a prime example, look up the time he had Krystal Ball on, and she was talking about the real causes of inflation and higher oil prices and the reaction by the Federal Reserve Board. She was saying things I knew to be true, and I couldn't believe someone was finally saying this on a mainstream show. This was something that needed to be said if we're having a real discussion. But, alas, Bill cut her off and was very condescending. She wasn't there to entertain, and Bill and his other guest--a conservative who stated at one point that we have higher gas prices because Biden stopped construction of the Keystone pipeline--went at her. In the end, he was so condescending toward her, leaving her with some dismissive comment as if she were a noisy student. I never saw him the same after that. Nor did I see anyone else like her ever come on again, and I watch that show every week, despite my revulsion for him.
I see _Real Time with Bill Maher_ as having as much gravitas as _The View._ These guests have the most vapid ideas, about as fluffy and meaningless to real issues as anything said by Joy Behar. Kellyanne Conway was on a couple of weeks ago, and saying the most trite things about everything, purely partisan boilerplate that had no real depth. He gave her space to say it. He's friends with her, so this is all just a show, neither one of them having any real principles. They're both wealthy, really; what's all of these issues got to do with them. Ann Coulter is in that same category, profiting from political discord. I find it all disgusting, as we, out here, deal with the consequences of all this useless chatter.
And now it's everything he does, how he talks. He's insufferable, the way he smacks his lips in disdain, his mouth open for a moment before he continues with his silly rants. Maybe he was always like this and I just didn't know. I take my time getting around to his show now, because it really has no value. It's just idle chatter.
Chicks really like this guy. The same ones who voted for Biden, Obama, and Clinton.
Every time I see is rubber face it makes me sick. He is so full of himself.
Funny how easy it is to say Trump lies, but in examples. All of the citizens that has at least a 3rd grade level of math knows the last election was rigged. Don’t have to be too bright to have watched it. I guess the Democrats needed to be in charge these last 4 years to show this country and the whole world how badly the Democrats want to destroy this country. They’re the ones that want socialism. There isn’t any other reason to promote lawlessness.

For what it's worth, his reversal from left to moderate may or may not be produced to keep him relevant. More "may" than "may not" is suspect. And, then, a book comes out. How convenient was that? After the election, keep your ear to the ground to see where he'll land in the next chapter.

This is a masterclass on why media like this is dying. Over 4 minutes of introduction to a man who has been on TV for 30 years. The fact you can run a media organization out of Los Angeles and put out this poor of a product is actually impressive. I have serious reservations if there is a single person in that building with a functioning brain. Someone sat down at a computer and edited this segment. They thought this was good work.

Bill Maher is my hero! I may not always agree with him, but I always appreciate his POV because what he says he says with intelligence, humor and gives compelling reasons why he just might be right. Most importantly, when he is mistaken, he doesn't double down, he admits it and moves on.

Bill Maher is the wisest person he has ever had on his own show. I get that sense from him everytime I make the mistake of tuning in. I also make the mistake of thinking he's a liberal and shares plitical leanings with me. He isn't and doesn't. I would be glad if he left California, where I am fortunate enough to live myself.

I’m the same age as Mr. Maher and he has been a great influence in my life. He and Jon Stewart introduced me to politics. Seinfeld is one of the greatest. These men speak truth to power while making you laugh at the same time. Thank you gentlemen.

The problem with Billy is he “thinks” that he is an influencer. In my opinion, he’s inherently lurched to the right as he’s always had some kind of grievance. Now that half the country is part of the grievance party, Bill has found a home with the whiners on the right. What do they say? Misery loves company.

The problem with Maher is his ability to use false equivalencies to support his theses . Sometimes they are blatantly incorrect, other times subtlely wrong. Regardless, arguments for entertainment value tend to fail in the light of day. Might be the weed, might be the friends he associates with (or owes). Who knows. But after 20 years of his foibles I always presume he's wrong, then see if I can destroy the presumption. Sad really. Just another comedian who thinks he's a politically relevant ming.

I agree with the host, Bill is a genius, and Real Time's format is a model for the media and news, and his essays are objective non-partisan, clear and concise. I don't agree with all of them, but they are all serious and well composed.

The 1st time I saw Bill Maher was in the movie "DC Cab" where he plays a cool guy who has this Zen/stoner vibe. I later saw his documentary/movie "Religulous" and I became a fan. ALL of my friends and family are very religious and this movie was like finding my tribe. I am so looking forward to reading this. Thank ya'll for an amazingly great interview.
