This is a deliberate technique used by Israel to slowly and gently convince people that all Palestinians are Hamas and therefore there is no such thing as an innocent Palestinian. To unintentionally do this is recklessly irresponsible. To INTENTIONALLY do it is downright evil.

What they're talking about is that the leadership of the Weimar Republic saw Hitler as not a very serious character that they could easily "co-opt" as Sonny loves to say. There was a willingness among the establishment to tolerate his rise to power because the elites saw him as a useful radical that they could moderate once he came to power. Very similarly to how the Republican Party establishment tried to respond to Trump in 2016.

The representatives of the protests said that they were protesting to get the colleges to divest from Israel, but the chants on the ground did not reflect that.

It is war. In war, there is collateral damage. Gaza is run by an aggressor, authoritarian regime. The people there have nobody to blame but themselves and particularly their parents for electing Hamas in the first place.
