  • The Sig Sauer P226 MK-25 is one of the most proven handguns in the entire world. The Sig P226 is synonymous with duty proven. Having been carried by Navy SEALs and law enforcement across the country for years, these pistols still have a place in modern society.

They feature phosphated internals and a chrome lined barrel for corrosion resistance. Then the pistol is marked with a laser engraved anchor in the slide and FID tag on the frame. My particular pistol has the E2 grips with are a substantial improvement over standard P226 grips. The pistol has three dot Sig lite night sights and two 15 round magazines.
With a DA/SA pistol they usually have decocker. The one found on this pistol is very easy to use and works extremely well. The first trigger pull is very heavy and deliberate which makes these pistols very safe and then follow up shots will have a much lighter pull. P226 pistols have always been very accurate for myself but they take a lot of practice to be accurate with. The double/ single action is not as user friendly as a striker fired pistol but they can be every bit as accurate with practice.
The Sig P226 MK25 is the perfect pistol for someone’s collection or the duty role. Hardened and proven in ever way. They garner a reputation like the 1911 and have a large following of loyal fans and professional end users. We hope you enjoyed this Sig P226 MK25 Review video and as always thank you for checking out Hunt Fish Shoot! Stay tune until next time!

I love, and carry DA/SA as a responsibly-armed citizen. I think striker-fired has become the trend because it's cheaper to produce, so results in more competitive pricing, and it's easier to learn. In the age of Amazon prime consumers want lower prices and simpler use.

    • @HuntFishShootChannel
      @HuntFishShootChannel  Před 2 lety +19

They are cheaper to produce due the polymer frame and the overwhelming majority of DA/SA guns are steel or alloy framed. Definitely easier to shoot a striker fired gun due to the consistent trigger pull. Thank you for watching!

I have a 226 MK25 & a 226 Tac Ops, both are awesome pistols! My wife was quite the novice when we got together & was initially afraid of guns, having poor instruction from ex’s. I started her off with a couple .22s until she felt comfortable moving up. When she shot my 226s she fell in love! They’re too big & heavy for her to carry comfortably but when we’re at the range she makes sure I bring them. She likes Sig enough to now carry a P365XL. From scared of guns to carrying her own.

Been a Glock guy for decade. Initially I thought Sig's where antiquated. But recently I've been moving towards DA/SA actions and been loving it over striker fires. And just recently started to really want a P226. I'm now of the mindset that the P226 is hands down an awesome pistol. 👍👍 Love Sig!!!

I love my MK 25, it honestly is my favorite over all my Sigs. I also have a huge fondness for the M11 A1, the baby brother to the MK 25, that little beauty has become my EDC and having that first trigger pull being about 10lbs, adds to my comfort level as I carry in the appendix position.
Outstanding job on the video, it’s nice to see someone demonstrating the MK 25’s capabilities.
    Best!

I have a German made P226 (1992 by the serial number) and I love it, still runs like a champ with no issues, shoots like a dream. It's a fat boy though, generally lives by my bedside, occasionally OWB carried. I love DA/SA, that first trigger pull is my sort of safety for the firearm. When holstering, I place my thumb on the back of the hammer such that if something got hooked on the trigger and pulled it, I'd feel it in the hammer and prevent it.
Been carrying a p365, but considering a Baretta PX4 Storm for an EDC because of the DA/SA.

My normal EDC is a Sig P320. However, I still train with my P226. I can't say enough good things about it. Very rarely, when feeling nostalgic, I carry it. I usually do more dry fire drills that morning before leaving with it than normal. But I find the weight difference is a good reminder that I'm carrying the 226 and not my 320 Xcompact. Thank you for the interesting video.

I think the longer we see strikers (which are great), the more the P226/9 and 1911/2011 platforms shine. My P226’s are not my EDC-X9’s but you can get 3 for the price of the Wilson. For what you get, the P226 platform is a steal! Great video!

How does that grip feel? I mean, since it holds a LOT of food, my first thought is that the grip is a bit meaty. I have wide hands but short(ish) fingers and while I can handle large grips just fine, I prefer thinner/smaller profiles. I realize this isn't 1911 levels of thin but I am FULLY intending to buy one of these within the next couple of months but I wanted a quick a dirty opinion from someone who owns one.

A friend of mine has admitted to owning "over 100 different handguns". How far over is questionable, and on fear that the exact number reaches his wife, he won't say.
He has one each of every S&W model from the post-WWII era, some Colts, every model of Glock, some High Standards, a few other brands of M1911s, a few European brands including Walther, Beretta, CZ, and HK.
One day he showed up unexpectedly, looking rattled.
"Someone made a credible threat against my life, and the State Police suggested I make myself scarce. I'm going to put my car in the barn, and if anyone asks, I'm not here."
I noticed a late production German SIG P-226 on his hip. I asked: New to you, used gun?
"No, I bought this new. This comes out when I'm no longer playing around.
When 'harms way' comes my way, everything else stays in the safe."

I’ve had the E2, the legion, and now own the MK-25. The legion was a race horse, the E2 is a work horse, and the MK-25 is the war horse between all three. I’m sticking with the MK-25 because of our shared history and it’s just a tank between all three.

I gifted my Sig to my son as a graduation present in 2020 and have been patiently eyeing jumping back into the Sig market with either a MK25 Sig P226 or a M11 Sig P229 to supplement my Glocks.
Once I make the switch the Sig will be my exclusive everyday carry and trainer.
I have been told that the P-226 is too “big” to carry.
Was told the same about the Glock 17 but I have zero issues carrying the Glock 17 and know I will experience the same with either the P226 or P229 plus the slightly extra weight for the superior frame.

It rode by my side for almost 19 years before switching to the M&P .40. If I had a choice of a duty sidearm, it would be a P226 9mm Tac-Ops with 20 round magazines. Ive carried a 226 16/7/365 for near a decaded now. To the point there are pics of of Christmas morning my kids opening gifts and its on my hip. If you new to that DA pull, get a red dot capable 226 and it will tell you whats happening thru the trigger press. Also, there are plenty of ways to customize the gun to you. My EDC is 7.5-8# DA & 2.75-3# SA with sub 1/8" reset. Nickle boron nitrate sear and hammer, gray guns ELS dual adjustable trigger. Some springs and you can still have a duty grade dependable DA/SA gun with a couple lbs less pull. One that shoots faster then most striker guns. I shoot many thousands of 9mm a year for years, and own or have owned most major striker guns. I think the only reason striker guns are more common is price and marketing. Striker technology is just as old as DA/SA too. How long have bolt action guns been around? Thats a striker fired gun.

@@HuntFishShootChannel I believe chromelining of the Beretta 92F barrels was a requirement by the US military on those pistols. That is why the 92 F pistols we see, either military or civilian versions have chromelined barrels. It would be a logistical challenge to put chromelined barrels to pistols supplied to the military and non-chromelined barrels for civilian pistols. Comes out cheaper in the end.

I prefer the p226 in .40 S&W or .357 Sig, but the MK25 is iconic. I purposely tracked-down a P226 chambered in .40 as my "alternate caliber" pistol, as I have lighter, polymer-framed guns for 9mm. I think the extra weight of an all-metal gun like the p226 is well-suited to a heavier-recoiling cartridge like the .40.

Carried a Sig P22- series gun now a decade. Currently have both 226 and 227 decked out by Add the armory craft smooth action SRT kit, SIG armorer's hammer spur, dual adj grey guns reduced feel pull weight. You have the smoothest 8lbs dbl action out there, and a 3 lbs single action that rivals many 2011's. Have milled and put a duty grade optic on. You have possibly the best GTW pistol on the planet with a trigger that's both safe to carry and rivals race guns. Why? Guns are ment to be metal not plastic, and carrying a gun on body with stored energy behind the primer (striker fire) is inherently more dangerous then not having stored energy behind a live round. Of a gun attached to your body 16/7/365. Even 1911's have two external safeties bc of the inherent risk. Both thumb and grip. And a Sig p320 has zero external safeties. Glock has one trigger shoe safety, thanks but pass on the Tupperware

@@HuntFishShootChannel thanks!! Spent lots of money trying different parts, RDS, optic plates, and many different pistols. Try to tell what I've learned in my experience as to the best overall combination. I rely on my pistol frequently both at possible distance and up close. My career is a land surveyor. Ppl (especially country folk, no disrespect i am one) believe they can pull guns on or shoot at anyone that steps on their property. Not the case!!!. I am legally allowed to trespass anywhere I need to perform my job. I can't knock on everyone's door (never get work done) and I may need to cross a dozen plus properties to legally prove the boundary of one parcel. The climate our gov has created has only made ppl more on edge and defensive. Had guns shoved in my face 1-4 times a year, come across meth ops, marijuana grows, had ppl try to run me down, attack an intern, neighbors who attack clients. Stalked by a crazy man head to toe camo with a rifle (told the cop the crosshairs we're on my head with safety off), lots of anger and screaming. I can't carry a long gun but odds are if I'm in a situation I'm up against someone with the edge of a long gun. I say all that to say my opinion is based on lots of life threatening experience and dependant on a tool that won't fail when it's needed most. I need a gun I can rely on for 1st round hit off the draw (dbl action) at distance farther then most ppl think possible with a pistol. 75-100 yards. I test my tools hard in snow, rain, mud, all nature can dish out. I train and shoot weekly. My wife and kids need me, too old to start a new career at 45. When I say the 226 is the best. I've put it thru hell, carried it and trained with it in demanding harsh conditions and tried to find anything that can beat it.

I don’t get why people say double action is so hard. Literally use the first trigger crease or the “power crease,” people. You’ll find it takes almost no strength to pull it quickly and effectively. And funnily enough if you pull fast enough, you can avoid the wall and essentially have a “wall-less,” trigger pull. Using a two handed grip, you only get faster. Take care and keep training everybody. DA/SA ftw.
