The Sig Sauer P226 SAO Legion. Is it the best variant of the P226?

  • I know these days Sig gets some hate with all the influencers out there. You must admit the P226 is a pretty awesome pistol. The standard DA/SA double action single action is ok, the Sig Tac-ops has a special place in my heart. But the Sig Sauer P226 SAO ( single action only) might be the king of the P226 family.

    Great video w/ just the right amount of detail and not too drawn-out. For years (US Army Vet & now 62-years old) I’ve only owned/shot my Sig P220 chambered in .45 ACP.., but now I’m thinking about getting a P226 in either 9mm/.40 S&W…
    Thank YOU for helping with my decision process.🇺🇸

    This is my favorite Sig pistol period. I have the RX model and it is awesome. Always liked the P226, but theDA trigger pull reach is just too long for my hand size. The SAO version works perfect for me and allows me to be able to use the P226.

    Love my P226 SAO RXP Legion. The only problem I've run into was my lower power factor reloads, for competition, did not cycle the gun consistently. I dropped to a lighter recoil spring and no more issues. Of course if I'm going to fire factory ammo the factory spring needs to be popped back in. The trigger was really sweet out of the box but if you disassemble and polish the hammer, sear, trigger bar it smooths things out. If you really want to go crazy pop in the Armory Craft dual adjustable SAO trigger. You have full adjustment on the pre and post travel.

      Same here. I replaced it with a dasa model p226. It's a pity because I really wanted to love that pistol. The grip safety is really ergonomic and yes beautiful to look at, and I loved the trigger. The p220 models have a stronger safety, so I don't know why they don't use that kind of safety on the p226/p229 as well. Again it's a damn shame. And as I had found out no one on CZcams is bringing up this topic. But yes I too would come home to find that the safety had flicked itself down while in my carry bag. Irritating.

    • @Osprey1994
      @Osprey1994 Před rokem +1

      What do you think? Are the magazines plentiful, is it dead nuts reliable even without perfect maintenance, is it light enough where you won't regret bringing it with you? If it fits all the qualities then sure, but I don't think it does so...
      If you really think you're going to survive for any length of time you are going to want an auto loader that has commonly found magazines so Glock, or Smith, P320 is a maybe. You should also consider a revolver that accepts 38 or 357, something super tough that will keep on ticking and take two very common revolver cartridges.
      Being able to find new magazines or eventually replace parts in a magazine is something you need to consider. Right now if you have a magazine that starts acting up all you have to do is order a new one, or buy new internals. You can only keep so many magazines on you. Not to mention you really are going to need to link up with others if you want to stand a chance, so if you don't have a group already then you should probably plan around a commonplace configuration.

      @@Osprey1994 sig p226 magazines and parts are plentiful. This gun has been around for a very long time, since like what 1984 or so. If you are really an end time prepper your job is to stock up on magazines and parts now instead of hoping to find them during an apocalypse or wrol situation. You should have at least 6 magazines for your primary guns anyways. The only downside to the sig p22X series pistols is the magazines are more expensive and the guns are a little more complicated for the average Joe to work on. They are dead nuts reliable and have been proven a long time ago in military and law enforcement applications. I have several Glocks and Sigs and feel they are equally capable of being that end of times handguns. My walthers can fit in that role as well as they are super reliable and I have plenty of parts and magazines.
