BROWNING X-BOLT 30-06 First Impressions and SUB MOA GROUP at 100 Yards

  • Finally decided to buy a new deer rifle. I bought the Browning X-Bolt chambered in 30-06. A 30-06 is a legendary do-all caliber and is a downright deer killer. A 30-06 will do everything I need it to do here in Pennsylvania. This gun recoils LESS than my Savage Axis 308 even WITHOUT the muzzle brake, which blew my mind! I am very pleased with my purchase. I can't wait to shoot this gun more and get some deer with it. I will be posting a long-term review eventually.

    Ive owned a xbolt stainless stalker for the last twelve years now and find the trigger pull perfect for hunting , this rifle is the most accurate firearm I've ever owned, my freezer proves that.

    I have several X bolts, never been a fan of the factory triggers, I swapped the springs out in all of them for the MCARBO springs and that brought them down to 2.5LBS consistently and only takes about 10 minutes to do. thanks for the videos.

    I just bought a new Browning Xbolt Speed Long Range 280 ackley improved. I ordered the new spring for the trigger. Now i have to decide which scope I want. Setting up to shoot out to 600 yds. Looking at a Leupold, Zeiss, Sig, and Vortex . U want a lite trigger for long range. The new spring will let u have a lite trigger. I almost bought a Savage Ultralite 280AI. I was going to order a new Timney trigger for it. Not a fan of Savage triggers.

    Nice! I have two X Bolt Speeds, 30-06 and 7PRC. Both are match accurate shooters. I like the factory trigger. When you only practice with one rifle trigger you get good with it. It’s about practice and muscle memory.

    • @GUNDERMAN
      @GUNDERMAN  Před 3 měsíci

      I love the trigger. I honestly don't see why people complain about it. I wouldn't want a hair trigger where soon as you touch it, it goes off.

      I have an older x-bolt. I don’t hate the trigger, it is a bit stiff, but it’s not the worst trigger in my safe. My Tikkas are head and shoulders above it though. Perhaps the newer ones are improved.

      I own 3 x bolts 270wsm, 30/06 and 7mmprc they all 3 shoot sub moa the 7prc will shoot .3 inch groups as far as the trigger it is a great trigger just too heavy for me but all u need is an mcarbo sear spring they are 12 bucks I set mine at 2.5 pounds factory browning will go to about 3.5 they claim 3 but none of mine would go that low

    I've shot this same rifle in 300 win mag and I will say the trigger doesn't suck but it's the only downside to the gun. If you haven't ever shot a gun with a great trigger than it would probably go unnoticed to most people

    The triggers on both my XBolts were super heavy. I swapped springs and now they are about 2.5#. My dad’s 30-06 XBolts trigger is around 4# at the lightest adjustment. All very crisp but super heavy from the factory.

      Federal Fusion 180 Grain. This was the first and only ammo I shot so far in my browning so far. I'm impressed with the results. This summer I will be testing out different brands and grains of ammo for this gun!

If u like a light trigger make sure and get a mcarbo sear spring because the triggers are great but on the heavy side

      @@erikleirmo9147the xbolt is superior in almost every category. I own a tikka tho and cannot complain but they are not the end all be all like people make them out to be. They have limited COAL, slow twist rate, 2 position trigger, and a lot of plastic parts. Also the xbolt is more comfortable.
      Trigger is the biggest difference which can be fixed with a 15 dollar spring.
      Xbolt has better safety features, better stock ergonomics , flush mag, shorter bolt throw, m16 extractor which I think is the best, and just as accurate in most cases. It’s a lot easier to get an Xbolt worked on. Beretta USA is HELL to deal with.

    I don’t understand why people buy a $1200 gun and put a junky ass scope on it .

    • @GUNDERMAN
      @GUNDERMAN  Před 48 minutami

      Maybe because that junky ass scope does everything I need it to do? I'm not a competitive shooter or shooting 1,000 yards. I'm a northeast deer hunter. Absolute furthest shot I'm ever gonna take is MAYBE 300 yards if it ever presents itself. 99% of my shots are gonna be well within 150-100 yards. Don't need a $1,000 scope with 25x zoom and extra turrets. Don't need to adjust anything at 100 yards. Do I need a $1200 gun? No. But do I want a quality firearm that $400 firearm does not offer, yes.
