I'm always late for your reviews. Just a couple of things. I think the one-dimensional aspect worked because this was very personal to John Kramer. They burned HIM. Great gore. I also loved that they didn't go with de-aging. There was one specific part that even managed to bring a tear to my eye (won't say it, though, for the sake of people who haven't seen it). All in all, I think this will be polarizing to some, but Saw fans will embrace it, and even non-Saw fans may even like it as it is such a character study of John Kramer... our favorite psychopathic Life Coach! BIG FAN LOVE FROM THE CAPITAL OF PA, USA! 😀

I want an ultra-optimistic Saw sequel where John and Amanda cheers the victims on through their traps, makes sure everyone survive their injuries, and when they're all patched up they go out and celebrate! 🎉
Did you see this one yet? The cheering during traps has got to be some of the funniest horror movie moments of all time.
Agree. Most of them were puppets and I think John and Amanda werenhoping they would choose to live (which they did, butblost too much time begging)...
Was not expecting the 9th sequel 19 years after the original to be this good...I liked it a lot
A Saw movie with a sense of humor sounds like the most refreshing thing this franchise could have done. All of a sudden I’m looking forward to this one!
That's the last thing I wanted to hear, ngl. Plus, I feel like they tried that with Jigsaw and it was awful.

I think the intense traps makes sense considering how personal this was for John.
I watched this in 4dx and it was one hell of a ride the scene where she is sawing her leg off, the cinema chair rocks back and fourth in unison. It was scarring.
By no de-aging did you mean they didn't put a baseball cap on backwards an call it a day 😅 looking forward to seeing this though!

im really not a saw girlie but im disabled with a rare disease that a lot of snake oil salespeople try to take advantage of for profit, especially for people who have reached the point of assured degeneration like me. for that reason, im really tempted to watch bc i am spiteful and need some catharsis.
Shame on those people! They deserve spite!
I watched it today it was insane and I loved it I really felt for John this time I looked at him as an anti-hero and yeah they really upped the gore and his story early on in the film truly gave me butterflies it brought back some memories back of my cancer battle but I was a lucky one and I have a great appreciation on life too I did before but now more then ever 2 years in remission everyday is a blessing see to live is the biggest adventure you'll ever go on. I will probably be skipping this one at the cinema (Saw not my thing) but just wanted to say how much i love the music that plays during your going-to-the-cinema montage. I used to be really scared of horror stuff (wimpy, yeah, but it's supposed to scare you! So it's doing its job!) but hearing that jazz is the perfect mix of anticipation and chillness, and makes it all seem quite relaxing
Saw this Monday and it was such a tense, thrilling, insanely gory ride. Some of those traps weren impossible I agree. Still, it was devilishly fun and super effective. It was kinda what I wanted and having this be more John's story really worked for me.
It would make sense if Jigsaw went a little hard on his first second group of people chronologically :p
He was like "Hmm, Saw 2 was doable... let's increase this shit!!!" and then realizes that he really let himself go during Saw X, so he tones it down a bit for Saw 3.
The goriest yet? Really?
I mean, especially 4-6 had some crazy nasty gore, I'm honestly taken aback. Kinda hesitant to get my hopes up that much lol
One trap I would say definitely is near the top of the list. And then the rest of the traps are so bad, hilariously bad, almost like a Scary Movie spoof level.
It reminds me the most of Saw III, the emotional stakes and back and forth between John (Jigsaw) and Amanda. I can see why Tobin Bell came back as this is clearly a character piece more centered on him as a character than the mystery/giallo approach of the original films. It paints a more sympathetic picture of both our antagonists (if you can call them that given the ending). As far as John's motives never making sense, when I saw the first film with a doctor's friend of mine, he mentioned the position of John's tumor and told me it's the part of brain that controls reasoning as far as right and wrong. If that's true, it would explain why he doesn't see what's wrong with what's he's doing but Amanda does, also why he has more sympathy for these people than he did in Saw II or III (you'll notice for instance when Jeff loses his game and thusly his child, John actually smiles at the end of III).

I love the level headedness (?) of your reviews! I had so much fun with this movie, it is now in my top 3 Saw films; but definitely agree with you on the characters. Also I love the style of going to the movies with you, it’s just so therapeutic for some reason 😅
I LOVED Saw X! I put it just below the OG as my favorite in the series.
Great! I really wanted to know what you thought about it! I pretty much agree with everything, except I would add that I personally liked that it was so John Kramer centered. Tobin Bell is so talented and charismatic and really plays well the role, IMO, so that was, for me, a plus.
I wanna see it, but I don't wanna feel uncomfortable for two hours, but I like the gore, but don't wanna be grossed out... *sigh...... I hear Paw Patrol's pretty good.
I enjoyed the simplicity of saw X, by now we know what to expect. 8/10 for me and my favourite of the franchise.👍👍🎃🎃

I saw this last night at my childhood cinema's final day of being open 😭 My first Saw film in theaters and it was pretty fun, had to look away a lot. (First film I saw there as a kid was The Two Towers)

Thanks for the review, Emma. Sorry to hear that Dean had a rough time and I sympathize with him. We can't all be gore hounds and I am certainly not one as you know. I will get to the film once it's available on video, which has been my plan for all the Saw films. The fact that it may be gorier than Saw VI (really rough for me) concerns me a bit, but being forewarned by your review is helpful.
fun fact this was my first saw movie 😭 to hear that this is the goriest one kinda brings me relief since it made me wanna watch the series, but saw x took me places i wouldn't even go with a shotgun! so yeah hearing that this is the goriest one is kind of a relief since I watched the first 2 traps through my fingers and it was so brutal i kinda felt sick skskfn

This was one of my favorite Saw films and I liked the simplicity of it compared to others. And some of your criticisms could really be applied to many of the saw films. Ready for SAW XI...

I really loved the first one, the gore, the atmosphere, but mostly the freaking twist just did it for me. can't believe how much time passed since then. second, third, all great, but then I kinda lost interest in the Saw movies over the years.. but now I'm really looking forward to see this one!

This might be my favorite of the sequels. Like that it’s more straight forward and a bit less convoluted.
I’m not that into the saw franchise, really liked the first film and cared less with each subsequent film. Thought this one was really basic and predictable but maybe that’s all we need to expect out of this franchise at this point. The bare minimum 😆 But yeah this is totally on par with most of the other saw films so I’m sure fans are happy with that.
I found the simplicity and black-and-whiteness of the 'victims' quite valid in the timeline - John wasn't yet as sophisticated and meticulous with how he chooses people, so it felt like he was simply reacting to the situation and the perceived crimes these people had committed. Like, almost in a clumsy way, an early days way.
Either way, for a NINTH sequel in this day and age to hit as hard and effectively should be absolutely shouted from the rooftops by the horror community - this is a shining gem in the 2023 crown.

I loved it I think it's my second favorite behind the second one! It was slower but I was definitely looking away at certain traps and also had a few laughs!
That's where I place it, too! It's so well made. The lead up to the reveal of the scam really makes you hate what the group did and made the film work for me.
I was surprised how the gore made me feel really bleak and unpleasant. It wasn't fun...just disturbing.
So weird cause I don't mind it in any other entry in the Franchise, and I also thought it was gross fun in say, Terrifier 2. This one was just really dark and I don't want to see it again.
Really liked the storybuilding for John though!
I saw Saw x on DVD one of my favorite in the franchises and there is a scene after the move that in the credits.
Usually my favourite bit of these is when you and your BFF, Gromit, say see you later. This time, you were beaming and glowing because your husband came to see Saw X with you. Now you absolutely have to do something with him that he loves that you hate... (I'm thinking going shopping together for beard-grooming products judging by those luscious locks around his chin) 😇
John freaking out about getting medical attention for one of the victims had to be one of the worst moments of dialogue I’ve ever heard 😂😂😂

It;s funny. I like all the Saw films, even Spiral. They are just fun. My favorite so far is part two. I love a group of people trapped in a house.
personally i will either skip this or wait until streaming because i am not a huge fan of very gory movies lol. Great review as always :)

Personally, I can’t wait to see this one. In our family, it’s the reverse: I’m the one who loves these movies, but my wife the one who really can’t stomach them. She calls them “yucky movies“.

I never thought I'd watch a Saw movie I enjoyed as much as the first 3 but this one really hit me with all the reasons I love saw, it's ranked number 3 behind Saw 2 and Saw 1

I was pleased with this one, and while I wouldn't say it's the goriest, it does not have a shortage of the red stuff or fun ways to use it.
But my main positives come from the well-told story, great performance by Tobin Bell and having characters that are for the most part intriguing. The original is still my favorite but this is a good second.
I was surprised how much I liked it.
I didn't think it was THAT gory until the leg bit I think thats what done it for everyone!

I've watched many many gory and disturbing movies. Enjoyed all saw movies. But somehow i fainted watching that bone marrow trap. Never happened that before.

I think this film should have occurred between Saw 2 & 3. Because after Saw 2 we know Amanda is John’s accomplice. And since he gets scammed in Saw X and his cancer doesn’t get treated. It would have made more sense why he’s especially sick in Saw 3, and it would have given Amanda even more character depth in 3.

Well I mean ad blocker steals revenue from creators. This is how I make my money in order to make videos full time otherwise my channel would not exist. Watching ads means you are supporting you’re favourite creator and don’t have to pay any money as their videos are free.

Saw it 3 times already. Without going into spoilers... Valentina & Gabriela's traps are the most cringe. The others are pretty mild but for a 1st viewing it would be a cringe fest. I love that it's a straightforward story, no flashbacks except the ending but it stays within this movie, the acting & soundtrack is the best in the franchise. I really like Gabriela, she seems the most redeemable. Cecilia, I HATE. It's hard not ruining the point when I truly hated her. That blood boarding trap had me at the edge of my seat. I was like you're going to do it aren't you, let him live but kill... No you can't do it... My mind was racing that 1st viewing.
I think Saw 3D was gorier BUT that's all it had going for it. Because of the flat characters, this felt more like a revenge flick. At least Amanda's character was developed more.
It was absolutely brilliant best film of the franchise.

6/10 for me, it just isn't it after the long years, but I still enjoyed it.
It's definitely meant to be funny: There's no way that scene (mini spoiler alert?) where they remove a dead character's intestines to use as rope is meant to be serious.
What is more gory in your opinion: this or Terrifier 2?

There was a decent story to the movie compared to the others I think. Not just blood and gore
I tend to "grade" folks by watchability. I gave this a solid B... surprisingly, because I've hated the previous 7 films. Not as original as the first, for obvious reasons, but really enjoyable.

Excellent channel - Saw X should have had an R rating - 100% the goriest Saw film I thought there were some massive plot issues - and the traps just were not as realistically survivable (could be done on purpose as this was a personal slight on him) - still 8/10
I found the twists to be super predictable. That aspect was a let down. I wanna know if you liked Exorcist believer, evil dead rise, or saw x better. It would be fun to rank all of 2023 horror

Only rated MA here, can’t be too gory. And if you look at Saw 2’s rating description its the exact same. Strong Violence, Blood & Gore, Coarse Language

I believe it's one of the goriest film in the franchise, possible even better than SAW 6 was. I know I really enjoyed this one Emma. I would rank it high, possible 2 or 3 on the list.
The Saw X traps are overrated. Sure, some are gory (just like other traps in the series), but they aren't really creative or fun. And the win conditions are quite ridiculous, and having to wait after beating the trap for something to happen so that you can be released was pretty stupid
I can't watch super gory movies anymore. So I'm skipping this one for sure. Buuuuuut I wanted to ask if you've watched " No One Will Save You"? An alien movie hasn't freaked me out this much since Signs lol.
