R.I.P. Steve Priest,,,reunited with Brian and Mick in heaven
For their sake, I hope there's an open bar.
Can't stop watching and listening these 4 guys. They were amazing, brilliant and outstanding - just the best band 🎶👍.
Love you ♥️
Sweet-Music never dies... 🎶🎤🎸🥁🎶
The best band. Best Singer/front man, Brian. Never get tired of listening to them.
The Sweet were always one of the greatest underrated hard rock bands of the 70s/80s.
Bollocks @ underrated. You might underrate them but real Sweet fans don't and won't.
Hey!..dont make a wrong!..Sweet in a so far away place like Chile, in 70’s and 80’s they were famous. When I was 13 years old I hear for first time the music of Sweet, in Chile!..
Thank you for the fantastic Sweet-Sound and the joy you brought to your fans.
R.I.P. Brian, Mick and Steve
You are unforgotten and forever in our hearts 💕

I love Mick's "13 hit Wonder" T shirt
Brian had a brilliant voice.
The gorgeous Brian Connolly fronting the band with Steve, Mick and Andy rocking on! Great band one of my faves in the 70’s
I love how Brian didn't feel the need to prance around and frolic like a Jagger type and just exuded cool effortlessly.
or Mercury
Your apt observation describes the quality that made Brian cool stage persona. It's a characteristic you just can't put your finger on. But your comment nails it spot on.
Brian was the best frontman ever.
Nobody will ever sing like Brian did.
Unforgotten and forever in our hearts 💕
It's been well noted by those who knew him that Brian lacked confidence in himself as an artist. He would never have pranced around, as you mentioned. It also goes to show just how incredibly gifted he was. There will never be another like him.
Incredible singer and frontman, absolutely voice and presence but no-nonsense. A very sad story really. The Sweet brings so many memories and many of them are tinged with sadness. No-one can live forever sure, but these guys copped a rough deal. With Steve passing on last year, it's all the sadder. Listening to their voices together - I don't think it's ever been done before or since. They set the bar on harmonies that many like Queen copied. From memory this was the come-back-together hit and Brain was in decline and left soon after or possible that was Love is like Oxygen. But this was late in the piece. I believe it was written as a blend of a lot of different musical styles and methods of the day and hard to play live. Makes it all the more amazing. A very powerful performance. Thank you Sweet and RIP Mick, Brian and Steve. May the music live on. Sweet are vastly underated.
Still Sounds As Good Today As It Did Back In 75.
72 in the UK.
This is still a kick arse tune after all these years, probably Sweet at their zenith All of the excellent musicians very much missed. RIP Brian, Mick and Steve and Bless Andy!
Sweet was really a kickass rock band really never got the recognition they should have but they were killer I love them.
Well Bill Conolly there got the recognition that he was an alcoholic, which eventually killed him at the ripe old age of 51.
I saw them in Gladstone, Queensland back in the 90s. My friend brought along an album that the only original member signed. She was offered $200 for it and declined. Then she drunkenly sat on it and broke it. 😆
They were huge here in the UK.
@@johntate5050- They also had the exact same number of top 10 hits in the States as Queen did. The only thing that stopped Sweet was Brian Connolly dropping out of the group right after "Love Is Like Oxygen". Otherwise they would have continued to soar.
Can clearly remember as a kid in the mid `70s this song taking over the whole street for a week or two. We could not stop playing this number. Still sounds fantastic almost 50yrs later.
BRIAN looks great !
Mick Tucker was a brilliant drummer. RIP.
Absolutely
@@2907gerrit Hot drummer.
He had it all, imo. The camera was never on him for long enough though, to satisfy my intellectual needs ;)
Lol
@@2907gerrit one of the best
Genius song ...most awesome band of 70's.
Bloody miss them times. I'd sell my soul to whoever if I could get back and stay there for good.. Brilliant Rock Band.
Die schönsten Stimmen Brian und Steve Love😘
R.I.P.
BRIAN and Steve and Mick
Hallo Andy
Andy Scott's guitar tone on this track so just so savage and heavy, I never get tired of revisiting it for what I consider that perfect hard rock and heavy metal sound. Super saturated distortion with singing sustain and perfect harmonic feedback biting at it's ankles, and really meaty palm muted riffing and that wild chromatic scaling in the solo.
Judas Priest like to believe they invented the leather and studs image for heavy metal in the late 1970s, but we can see here they were preceded by a few years and were still in their hippy phase in 1975 (see their appearance on The Old Grey Whistle test).
So ahead of their time, you should check out the guitar solo on Solid Gold Brass live at the Geordie Scene on CZcams
The Sweet
Have always had that
Great
Heavy loud metal
Punk style
It's always been brilliant to this day.
What a bombastic sound, The Sweet really had it on it and then also the people in the studio who knew exactly how to produce such a "State of the Art" sound in 1976!!! Best regards, Horst Lemke, Music Producer, Germany
You're not wrong Mr PRODUCER. Even a 15 year old teenager at that time new it was something special. Great to hear an acknowledgement from a professional. 👍
Same with a 12 year old
Released in 1975
Hi Leo, Thank you for the compliment. The Sweet accompanied me with their music throughout my teenage years.
Yes Michael...1975...sorry!
Long Live!!!! The Best!!! Sweet!!! Connolly!!!!!!
Massive Sweet fan in the 70s still sounds great now
One of the best and most underrated bands ever. Fantastic music from a great time to be alive. 🇬🇧👍👍👍
🇩🇪👍👍👍
I want Brian's hair! And what a great rockin' track!
SWEEEEEEEET!!!!!!! The true bad boys of rock!
47 dislikes!? Are you kidding me? One of their best songs IMHO. That cash register at the break is epic. So good, that Steve Stevens and Def Leppard have covered it. If you dislike this, you hate music.
Even Ebay copied it.
dislikes why who cares brr. we all loved this group.
Hi You Know The Sweet Was The Best Band Ever , Many, Many Thanks Brian Connolly And The Sweet For all Good Music Best Wishes From: Rogert Nyberg With family 😁👍
UMEÅ , SWEDEN
i think there are a lot of people find the group not underrated. they where worldwide verry famous. but also lot of people the press thought it was nothing. arrogant people who cares i loved this group verry good life. never be forgotten by manny people.
I love Brian! Brian forever 😍😍😍
Thanks for SWEET to feed us with great music!!!!Take care Andy

One of the first Super Groups. Trend setters!
visiting/listening to these Sweet guys again today. Great musicians/artists. No one could ever take your place, Brian! the best!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🤘🤘🙌🇨🇦🇯🇲 !!! The memories of grrreat music... Peace to Andy, ... Rest well Mick and Brian (a crush back in the day). Best wishes to all. Thanks mates 😉😚
This song was sooooo way ahead of its time. I remember getting the single back in 1976 and the b-side was Medussa. Sweet's b-sides were like finding something actually valuable at the bottom of the box of CrackerJacks. I remember as a kid listening to the b-sides as much as the hit A-sides. I liked Restless (b-side of Ballroom Blitz), but my fave has always been Burn on the Flame (b-side of Fox on the Run). Damn...so many memories with these tunes. Action is still my fave of the Sweet singles and I never knew there was an official video. Thanks for making my day!
This sound and this track influenced so many bands I mean really!!! Long live The Sweet!
The B-sides were often different depending to what country the singles were brought out. I got 'Action' as a single back in those days as a kid and the B-side was 'Sweet FA', B-side of 'Fox' was 'Miss Demeanor'
Unfortunately, most people don't even know what an "A" and "B" side is anymore...
B-side of Hellraiser...Burning is a classic heavy rock song.
In Germany the B-side was Sweet F.A. I still have it. it was one of my first singles I bought. I was 11 years old and I loved the hard rock sound. My parents had the single Co-co, and I hated it.
Yes Mick Tucker was seriously superb. Think he was one of the best drummers of that time.
he was so flamboyant, he made drumming into an art form. Nobody else could match him imo. He had it all, technique, looks, physique. His drumming and Brian's singing, irreplaceable. They WERE Sweet.
@@rubydazzler he also had a big knob...
There a media pic, from back in the day...hunt it down
@@VONCEIL1 I don't need to, thanks. ;)
@@rubydazzler mmmmhhhmmmmmm
They sound as good to me today as when I first listened to them in the 70's! They really were awesome! Hard to believe that 2 are gone!
The sweet was the best part of my teenage years they still bring happy memories whenever I hear their songs and watch their videos
Well it means that we are still tennies
Hugely underrated band. Mick Tucker, in particular, was a great drummer.
God father of drums🍀👏
Beste Clam Rock Band aller Zeiten The Sweet einfach nur Klasse

SWEET, ste moja srdcová záležitosť a moja mladosť!!! Spievajte aj hore v nebi!! Ak odídem z tohto sveta; konečne budem na vašom koncerte!!!!
I can't believe these guys aren't popular and they should be their songs are outta control
In their day they were quite popular in places like Germany and Australia. They never really broke into America before they parted ways. Best band ever.
Absolute perfection!
This was a good ball busting song by one of the best bands Britain has produced glam band bullshit they knew their trade and did it well thanks for the memories Brian,Steve,Mick, & Andy
Love this CLASSIC song from Sweet...................great video.
One of the best bands of the 70s.the have never gotten the credit they deserve, I bought desolation boulevard when it came out in 75, I was 17, and bought all of their LPs, still have them.
State of the Art" Sound produzieren muss!!! Beste Grüße, Horst Lemke, Musikproduzent, Germany
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU MR. ANDY SCOTT!!!! I HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT/SAFE BIRTHDAY! YOU ROCK(ALWAYS & FOREVER)!!!!
Wow ...........its bombastic !!!!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
wow! your are too! great song!
This is so Sweet.
One of the best Drummer ever. Incredible Drive.
Brutal stuff right there. "I was suicidal cuz you was my idol" is rock 'n' roll poetry. And those vocals RULE! Brian's lead is so venomous, and the band's harmonies really turn up the drama. LOVE it!
Brian was a top notch vocalist. One of the best ever as far as I'm concerned. There's a few clips of their live appearance on Musikladen floating around youtube, where Brian is just ROARING those vocals. Gives me goosebumps every time I watch/listen to those clips. Check them out if you haven't seen them. It was really sad how far down the tubes he went after he left Sweet. Years of extreme alcohol abuse just destroyed him.
drama is the right word.. my 12yo daughter just asked me what I was listening to.. we listed and she said it's very dramatic Dad... these guys were amazing - pre Queen, pre Kiss. Very influential fellas. And like most great bands a very sad story to go along with it.
@@Brewzerr Those Musikladen clips kick ass! "No You Don't" in particular just rips; with a few tweaks, it could have been a killer Ramones song. I agree that Brian ROARS in that performance, even if his voice is a bit rough (was that after he got into the fight that damaged his throat/voice)? And I agree about Brian: he was such a talented vocalist, but his alcoholism really messed up his life. His voice had so much range; intimate and warm on one song, but gruff and adrenaline-charged on the next. Even to the end of the '70s, he was putting in terrific vocals on songs like "Silverbird" and even "Love is Like Oxygen." I think people like him and Noddy Holder are huge influences on the glam metal vocals we heard in the 1980s.
@@jamcofec I agree, Sweet was a HUGE influence for other glam rock bands going forward. I like their early Chinn/Chapman pop stuff to an extent, but stuff like this is why the band should be considered important. Hell, this song is so dramatic that it verges on the intensity of an opera. I'm shocked that THIS doesn't get any classic rock radio attention here where I live in America. It's powerful, catchy, fun... it's Sweet!! And for my money, it's a metal masterpiece.
@@benpettit7604 I don't know for sure if the Musikladen appearance was before or after that incident when Brian got kicked in the throat, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was just after. I know that incident happened in 1974 (not sure exactly when in '74 though), and the TV appearance was also in '74. He almost sounds like he's singing with a damaged larynx. Almost distorted, like the way an amp sounds when you slash the speaker cones.
Grande Canzone, gruppo straordinario e di forte impatto rock 🤘
These guys are so underrated . They better be in Rock n Roll HOF. If they’re not that’s a shame.
Loved this as a teenager and forty odd years later it still kicks ass.
Years ahead of their time and in essence a commercial metal band.
OH MY GOD! This is so F'n good! I love Sweet. They were in my top 10 bands back then and there were a lot of epic groups! "Give us a Wink" is still my favorite album by them. Hard rock bordering on metal! Amazing transformation when you think not many years before they were singing stuff like "Little Willy".
*One of the greatest songs of Rock n Roll history!*
LOVE this song.
Best hard rock group ever which might be understood by the general public by the year 2032 onwards.. ✌
one of the greatest bands in rock history hall of fame an more credit due to them
I chose Desolation Boulevard over the Bay City Rollers for a album purchase.
Best damn decision I ever made.
I wish I had made that decision.
I bought them both. The right decision.
@Billybob Ireland what County?
Alter Bay city rollers😵😵😵👹👹👹🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
I LIKE SWEET HAVE A CHANNEL WITH VIDEOS IN GOOD QUALITY THANK YOU MANY THANKS I LOVE THE BAND MEMBERS CONOLLY IS MY FAVORITE VOCALIST ACTION!
Thanks for posting this clip. I grew up with Sweet. What a great band. Was only 13 when this song was released. I learned to spin my drumsticks copying Mick.

Big hit in Aussieland, I was about 9 when I heard this song - my favourite from the band.
Ballsy sound.
yeah i was nine in aus at the time this came out and my mum agreed to buying a record and i wanted this and the sweet singles lp but she said no one or the other so ofcourse i chose the lp but i managed to con her into buying me action a few weeks later lol

THE BEST!!.. THE ORIGINALS!!
Hi! This is so GOOD, so full of action, that I can´t stop dancing and singing: I haven´t a talent of singing, but what about that :), the feeling is what matters....where are you from? I´m from Finland, the country of ice and weird people :)!!! I don´t belong to the weird ones :), but I love music, movies, books, I write and draw myself, but I´m not very proud about myself, because I´m freezing here....How about your country, what´s the weather like there? Here is snow....I don´t like it......

I´m in Latin America. Ecuador. Our climate is hot and little humid. We are the main port of the country. Guayaquil is my city. I´m art director and cartoonist. Graphic designer and art teacher. I Love draw and paint. i´ve heard many fabulous things about your country.
No they changed their names to the New Originals....
FUCK THIS MAN CAN SING !!!!!
Didn´t you know before??? :) Where are you from? Greetings from Finland :) !!!
What a song , what a band ive got strung up double album and i play it all the time, love it, "do u want action " 😎
The tragedy is that Sweet never had the enormous success and recognition they so richly deserved/ deserve
They did have enormous success. They were one of the top 3 Glam bands with Slade and Gary Glitter.
@@lewisner I get you. But they could've gone Queen-like stratospheric. They missed the Who support, which was pivotal. And kind of got tagged with the Glam phase. I reckon they could've been way more recognised. It's a shame
They were a musically limited band, very fitted to produce these kind of cheesy hits, nothing close enough to Queen.
They got the success they deserved, being a second tier band
I feel like misfortune at times and a bit of mismanagement is what hindered them. But oh my god, they are truly one of the best and most talented bands I have ever heard. They are definitely in my top favorites.
@@MsAllimack I completely agree! You have taste!!
i used to give the tennis racquet a real going over playing air guitar to this one... Andy's the only member left. it's sad when the idols of our youth die.... but man it was fkn great to be there when it happened. i don't think life got any better than the mid to late 70's. not for any age group of the time. life was so uncomplicated and people didn't expect presents or surprises every day of their life. they were just themselves.... real.
When I was little, I saw the Sweet In Chicago, pretty close up. It must have been an-all ages show. I'm guessing the Aragon, but it could have been the Riviera. My dad took me, erroneously thinking that it was a kiddie concert. Much later, on the eve of the Millennium, I saw Def Leppard, 10th row. When they covered this song, I was just transported!!!
Fantastic song and thank you for the music 🎶🎼🎶💖
We had the best tunes ever back in the day. I don't give a fuck what anyone says. Rock on brothers and sisters!!!
Nice version. Again I have to praise the studio guys. Smashing recording.
Say it with me. UNDERRATED!
Are you kidding?! Love this band.
Beautiful voice 😍😍😍
best drummer,ever
This song has got a direct message!!! Let´s continue with our strong attitude!!!
