There's just something so gentle about Sam. Obviously, he's a vampire and could do great damage. But his air and his presence is very gentle, very reassuring. The weight of the plot with Quinn necessitates a slow burn and I do love it. But there's a seed and a definite feeling of being cared for and being taken to heart already. ❤

I love that Sam’s a healer through and through. Not just in the sense of physical injuries, he wants to be there as much as he can to help people, especially ones he cares about, and it would seem he’s a very empathetic person.

Not just the trail we left, but Sam was healing our wounds in the previous episode, and since healing magic pretty much needs skin-to-skin contact to be effective he probably got our blood all over his hands. And we know for a fact that Quinn has no problem going after people we care about to send a message... hoo boy.

It hasn’t happened yet, but I just know that Erik wouldn’t have all of this lore be put out there with no payoff. There’s definitely gonna be some sort of showdown with Quinn, and I have a feeling that it’s gonna start with Quinn finding out we’re bloodbound, and tracking us down before we can track him down. There’s no way Erik’s going to set up these dominos and not knock them down, something with Quinn is coming I know it.

In other news, the slow burn continues to impress. It's the little meticulous choices in wording and the moments of understanding between the two of them that makes the tension so palpable. The way Sam immediately can hear the pain in Darlin’s voice, even over the phone. The way that he lets them lead the conversation, asking them how *they* are comfortable. Things like “I don’t claim to be an expert at you just *yet* ” and " *We’re* gonna figure this out.” The tender back and forth between the two of them is akin to a carefully choreographed dance, and I can't wait to see where it’ll go next.

I just know that the slow burn is going to pay off! I love how much Sam cares for Darling, and the subtle hints of deeper feelings behind his words. Darling also expresses their concerns openly w/Sam, and it’s so important. It truly shows the love they have for Sam. Love the lore, and this character! Sam’s definitely one of my favorites.

Every time I hear Sam talk about his magic, it breaks my heart. Having listened to the entirety of the Freelancer series really puts into perspective the range and depth of his abilities before his turning. I want to give it all back to him so badly...

@@MirandaCoxx the only time that Sam's storyline vaguely crosses over into the Freelancer one is during the Inversion, but still, I don't believe that he ever directly interacts with any elemental or the Freelancer. They're just all in the same place at the same time facing the same threat.
And in case the meaning behind my original comment was unclear, I meant that listening to the Freelancer (listener character) in their series learn and use more of their magic made me think about and compare them to Sam and his limited abilities as a Vampire.

Just by Sam's demeanor his personal story needs to be a slow burn. I like it . No wonder him and Vincent are such good friends. Darlin' reminds me of Lovelie so Sam has his hands full if their stubbornness matches each other. I know Sam eould protect Lovelie I think it's almost time he tells Vincent and Lovelie about Darlin or at this stage at minimum Vincent. If and when Eric comes back, it would be so cool if Sam were to call his darling, and he ends up finding out that Quinn attacked them and that they put up a fight and that his darling is in pain but he ends up missing I'm his darling like it's to late for him, but darling is still alive, but he just has to heal them again and make sure that he gets as much information about Quinn as possible.
Something that only occurred to me after rewatching this series for the umpteenth time... in the last episode, Sam was patching us up after our fight against two vamps. Healing magic kinda needs physical contact to be effective, and we definitely had more than a few open cuts on us... meaning that Sam would have gotten his hands (and likely the sleeves of whatever he was wearing) covered in our blood.
1) He's going home to a pair of younger vamps who by all indications still would have some control issues around blood. Yes, they're old enough that Sam was getting ready to teach them how to feed off of humans already, and the blood likely would have dried by the time he got back, but still. Unless he found someplace to clean the blood out before heading home or something.
2) Speaking of cleaning the blood out... Quinn. Quinn can track our blood, _and Sam almost certainly got some of our blood on his hands while he was healing us._ There's the possibility that washing the blood off was enough (or that he could use magic to clean it up further), but even Sam says that scouring magic "might not be perfect" in getting rid of the trail. If it isn't... Sam's gonna have a _huge_ target on his back if and when Quinn comes back.
