Michael Burr Hi mate, best to bond the boards were they meet at the arch and round off, if you have a straight edge you can use this to merge the wall and ceiling in to one.
Your suppose to apply undercoat Plaster like Render, it's like your skimming there and also start Top to Bottom ? working right to left with undercoat Plaster or Render ? Skimming is Left to right ?

i just removed wallpaper off walls and i was quoted to have the walls bonded and then skimmed - is this cheaper than having all the plaster removed and then dabbed and skimmed?
Nevindhar Singh I can’t comment as I can’t see your walls, the person you have had to look at your property I’m guessing is a certified professional so should give you the correct information. Don’t alway go for the cheapest you’ll regret it in the long run...
If the walls smooth enough for a multi finish on to stop the dry suction on walls I I stablizer the walls first with a sandtex water based primer sealer then a couple of coats of pva on top of sealer. Trust me mate you get more play time with the plaster
Hello mate I'm bonding my blocked fireplace area on the chimney breast section in my living room .it's been bricked up (brick on edge).. before bonding can I apply just water to the brick or do i need pva? Also after bonding If I can get it flat enough can I wallpaper over that? Thanks
Hi you will need pva, some corner beads then apply bonding, then I would suggest multifinsh on top of the bonding to give a smooth flat finish, the wallpaper needs a smooth background.
Can u tell me how I can get more time out of multi .boarded a ceiling first coated 7 metres flattened it's started to go off second coated no time to play with it abbonded it hav to go back tomorrow pva and start all over again all brand new plaster board all multi in date I heard I can put creme of tartar in mix what is the rachio thank u micky
Hi thanks for the reply, the guy who quoted me I found off rated people and he wants around 3300 to board up ceilings and skim and to avoid knocking all plaster off and reboarding he said apply the bonding on where the plaster is crap and then reskim. If I want all the plaster off and then boarded and reskimmed it's an extra £1000. I'm doing this property to do up and sell not to live in...I'm not sure what qualifications to look for as I don't think he has any to show.
we have 3 bedrooms, hallway, landing, living room and kitchen - all ceilings are going to be boarded and then the walls will be stripped and skimmed - any bad plaster he will knock off and fill with bonding. Would you say this is acceptable?
You said your using bonding because that wall will suck the moisture from one coat plaster so why couldn't you just PVA it then skim it ? I thought bonding was for holes, building up and leveling walls for skim ?
roy ratcliff the walls were really uneven with holes & High spots, the wall has been previously tiled & the top area wasn’t in line, the substrate was a mixture of concrete brick adhesive so I need to have a backing plaster to give a better even suction rate, would have been better to use blue grit first but I couldn’t get any, but I still would put a coat of bonding on first like I did then a finish coat with 5mm skim coat.
@@whiterinteriors blue grit is supposed to be a good product. A friend of mine used PVA and a splash of kiln dried sand on his ceiling then the next day skimmed it he said it worked well. His version of blue grit I suppose.
I don't think I explained my self property when skimming plaster boards ceiling it seems to go off in no time at all second coated it it started to go off no time to work it this has happened a few times I must be doing something wrong can u help it was hard work I do appreciate your help micky
MR V your best to use hard wall for a heavy coat, bonding is more for a backing coat for a skimming to be applied on. If you apply to heavy a bonding cost it will slump

Do I round it with a bottle or template or just free hand also were the wall meets the rake do I need it to bead it

Immy Shakey always apply 2 coats of pva so it stops dust & the walls drawing the plaster out too quick.

Michael Burr put on the wall or ceiling only as much as you can handle, put PVA to stop the moisture on the porous walls

Michael Burr you don’t need time to play with 7 meters.
See my other videos , look at the video I applied in 13 minutes
Extra time will give you an extra 60 mins. But wouldnt advise ot for a 7 meters squared

I would go with the first suggested estimate, hall stairs landing is almost class as 3 rooms.

roy ratcliff thank you for comments, I know use blue grit from Feb bond, apply to all surface that has high suction, leave over night.

roy ratcliff PVA is water soluble & reactivate when it gets wet , blue grit is water proof

Michael Burr maybe your not putting enough on the first coat, normally you can put a whole Bag on in one go.
Or maybe your not mixing it up correctly.
