Fun fact: this movie was filmed in my mom's cousin's house and during Christmas time my family celebrates Christmas there and it's creepy but cool that I've been in this house multiple times
I LOVE this movie - great to see it reviewed!
The scene where the seance starts going awry is so disturbing. I love the final scene (where the dad goes "Hey, Bobby") - I wasn't sure if it was really Bobby or some kind of horrible impostor, because I think the hippie friend previously said "There's something here, but it's not Bobby". I'm going with the theory that it's really Bobby, just because I don't want anything bad to happen to the couple.
This was an amazing movie. My list is long, but I was so happy seeing this tonight. Thank you guys again. You are both great.
Just watched this movie for the first time, and remembered you guys' review. Rewatching this, definitely did not disappoint as suggested. Great review! Absolutely trustworthy as always.
Awesome! Love it. I just discovered your channel and I'm a subscriber now. Three out of my three hedgehogs agree you're awesome. Rock on, fellow horror freak!
huh, this movie just sort of flew over my head, gonna have to check it out now. Thanks for another awesome vlog guru/jack :D
+JustSomeGamer No problem, duder! Let us know what you think. =)
The same guy who did this movie also helped make the ps4 game Until Dawn, he seems to have a theme to make you think it's just a generic horror scene but then he puts something really captivating hidden under the campy stereotypes. He also likes appearing in his movies, and the game (I'm not kidding, Larry is Flamethrower Guy!)
Larry Fessenden! My ex was really into Until Dawn but we broke up before she had a chance to show me it. One day I'll play it. Maybe. =P
Aw I'm sorry to hear that :C I'm the same about vocaloid. Still, love yours and Jack's channels and hope you're all doing well
Seeing his name in the credits for Until Dawn kinda spoiled what the monster was because of his history with those kind of movies hahah. But it was still a rad game! I'd love to see more horror movies tackle native american monsters.
I didn't even know him before the game, I just liked the flamethrower guy, and one night while my friends and I were watching scary movies on cable I recognized him and flipped out xD I never much cared about spoilers, just the way that the story is presented is what makes me say if it's a good movie or not.
Love These Guys!!!!
+2011PRRlOnlineRadio Thank you. We love YOU! :)
Agree
This movie was awesome!! I watched it on Netflix and was blown away. Great review guys!!
This was a fantastic movie! One of my current favorites!
I love this film!! That 3rd act was absolutely brilliant! I would love to learn more or the lore behind the house and the patrons but regardless this was one kick ass film. Easily in my top 5 of last year.
+Shawn Simpson Fuck yeah! It's a great flick.
This was a movie that had been on my list for a while, and when I saw your and Jack's seal of approval, I knew I had to check it out. And whoa. This movie is 'Insidious' with balls (don't get me wrong, I like 'Insidious' just fine). I did love the little nods to Fulci's movies, like the names Dagmar and Sacchetti. I also got a little bit of a 'Devil's Backbone' vibe from the ghost designs. But anyway, I really liked this one. Thanks, as always, for the recommendation!
+Otter Paw Studios No problem, man! Glad you liked it. =)
I really wish more horror fans knew about this film. I didn't know about this until I saw the amazing box art at Redbox and decided to rent it.
+Seargent363 Agreed! My recommendation is to spread the word to all you know. =)
this movie its a insult for the "horror" genre
@@alextintor55thespectre67 It's a love letter to old Italian horror like Argento, Fulci, and Bava. What's not to love as a hardcore horror fan?
@@Seargent363 this movie is the oposite of horror genre, bunch of edgy gore and boring plot, and as a "love letter" to italian horror genre ,let me tell you that this movie is not up to the heels of evil dead
we its soo a bad movie that no one talks about it
I love the reviews by The Horror Guru & Count Jackula. I've got a long list of movies to check out now 😁
Thank you, fellas. I've been adding your recommendations to my viewing lists. And by the way, Jackula, that red looks great on you.
Awe man i love "The Entity" i need to see that again. Barbara Hershey did a really good job on that.
Awe y’all were so young ❤😂 not innocent but young 😊❤
Sounds like my wife's kind of film. She's a horror but and loves ghost story movies and others like The Strangers. This sounds right up her haunted alley 👻
Definitely check it out with her then! =)
This sounds a little bit lke "Burnt Offerings" not sure if you've seen it but it's pretty good.... 70s creepy haunted house movie... one of Bette Davis's last movies. It's pretty cool.
+Stock Diane (LittleRat2014) I can definitely see the comparison there. Love Burnt Offerings.
+The Horror Guru It would make a good blood splattered cinema. I have a friend that calls me Ms. Alidice.... LOL.. it's because I almost always beat him in cribbage.
a new video? sweet :D, i can't wait to get this movie, i've heard great things about it. always excited to see a vlog of yours josh, great seeing you too jack.
+Connor Logan Let us know what you think when you see it! =)
+The Horror Guru Just watched it, and all i have to say is THANK YOU for recommending it! i have a few notes
- The atmosphere is most scenes feels so unsettling like you shouldn't be in that house, it really gets under your skin, and its so damn eerie when you see the Dagmars shadowed in hallways or nearly offscreen in some scenes
- the scene when crampton is in the basement and a ball falls down the stairs really reminded me of "The Changeling" in a way, another ghost movie you most likely know of
- the town itself feels like it's right out of a lovecraft story, townsfolk who don't like outsiders and are very secretive and weird, and it's awesome when the townspeople get slaughtered
- The film really feels like a Fulci movie like you said, the gore and violence was just amazing
- The acting was very good from both our leads and other characters
- and i always like a touching ending to top it off, i am so following whatever this director does next!
so overall We Are Still Here was an amazing ride, thanks again for the recommendation ^^
i give you a very blood splattered farewell
Non-spoilers have me tempted. Gonna have to watch this movie before I get to you get to spoilers!
Went to watch it and realized that I'd already seen it. LOL :D
+prufrock1977 Haha, that's funny. =P
cam you review the blackcoat's daughter? i love this film. it was made by the 2 sons of anthony perkins from psycho. oz make the film and his brother did all of the music.
I'm going to Add This One on my Shopping list Dude!
+Daniel Ross Sounds good, man! Let me know what you think. :)
I stopped the review when you guys hit spoilers, went and watched the movie. Holy crap that was awesome!! Great review. You guys ever consider a splatter month? Anything with blood a la fire hose like Dead Alive and Machine Girl works for me!! :)
+dragonstoy 76 Not a bad idea, though most of my show is splatter films by default. :)
+The Horror Guru lol true enough. Do love your taste.
Great review
great show.
Great film!
Hell yeah! 👍
Why did the old guy kill the girl in the restaurant when she answered the door?
+musstakrakish Not entirely sure, to be honest. Good catch. Haha.
do "the nintgh gate"
you can do a review of the movie of a demon what killing pacients in a mental hospital and is protected by a sect.
the demon kills people of fake lighting.
do "the ninth gate".sorry of the word bad scripted.
hey horror guru could u do Friday the 13th for your next review plz :)
+FalkirkGamerHD Not my next, but I could in the future. Maybe. :)
yaaaaaaaaaaaay XD
LAST SHIFT LAST SHIFT LAST SHIFT LAST SHIFT LAST SHIFT LAST SHIFT
+Kid Chris We will get to that soon as we can. Our apologies. :)
No need to apologize at all, just really think you guys will love it
Hmm i though the endning was a bad one (in a sense that it's not a happy ending) - that the family were the sacrifice baited to the cellar - Ann just vanished there & Paul joinned soon after. The townsfolk killing was just a revenge of the ghost imo.
Kinda what I thought too. That the burn family getting their revenge left but the demon under the house was still there. The friend said that it wasn’t her son. So I think it was the demon getting them at the end by pretending to be their son.
I can't believe you guys thought this movie was good. All the story dialogue was given to one character, who ended up repeating a two sentence line four times, not to mention the CGI was poorly done & the ghost story element of it was so predictable. I knew what was up like 10 minutes into the film.
To each their own, my friend.
I mean sure, I was just dissapointed with the review since it kind of flipflopped from your usual reviews (I.E, not calling out repeats & predictability etc). Liking something is all fine, but ignoring it's flaws doesn't make for a good review
I just didn't find the flaws that you found, that's all. My reviews are my opinions, nothing more.
