    omg yesss. i love this series, and love this specific theme, i'm so excited to read these! thank you for all the awesome recs, you're one of my top sources for finding new spooky/dark stories. love your taste in media tysm for sharing. i've read so many books based on your channel and seriously enjoyed a lot of them, and they wouldn't have been on my radar otherwise

    Added most of those to my TBR! 😂 The Deloriad is on my 2023 TBR.

    The family in The Doloriad has to be the weirdest I’ve encountered (not necessarily a recommendation haha). I want to pick up The Water Cure and The Dumb House.

      Oooooh The Doloriad is on my TBR. Would you recommend it? I know it is pretty divisive on Booktube.

      @@biblioobscura The writing is gorgeous; the content is deplorable. As long as you know what you’re getting into, I think it’s worth your time, if only for its unique take on a post-apocalyptic world.

    I enjoyed Follow Me to Ground. I read that right before I read Tender is The Flesh (still thinking about both of them) and that really catapulted me down a darker reading rabbit hole. No complaints there though! Thanks, I definitely put The Water Cure and The Light of The Fireflies on my tbr.

    The water cure was my first read of 2023 and I loved it!

      So glad to hear that!!! It seems to be disliked on Booktube but I liked it. Glad you did too 🌊

    Loved this. I read Light of the Fireflies and didn’t love the story but that family was definitely messed up!

      I read it so long ago but I remember not even guessing a single twist so I was quite shocked 😱

      @@biblioobscura Yes it was definitely twisty!

    The only one of these I've read is Follow Me To Ground and I really enjoyed it. (Sorrowland by Rivers Solomon falls into this theme too I think)

    • @biblioobscura
      @biblioobscura  Před rokem +1

      Yeah I agree that Sorrowland could fit. I think I put it in (or will put it in) a cult or body horror rec video instead. Trying not to double up!!! But yes I read that one too. I found it equally fascinating as it was flawed.

    OMG Dumb House sounds fascinating! Definitely want to pick it up!!

      It is pretty brutal so I'm glad I read it before having a baby. Don't think I could stomach it anymore!

    For a fun and creepy weird family read "Mexican Gothic," by Silvia Moreno Garcia.

    I finished Follow Me to Ground this month and really enjoyed it. The ending left me with a lot of questions
