I read We Can Never Leave This Place and I liked it! It’s very much a trippy story and I found it very interesting. It kind of reminds me, in some ways, of The House In The Dark Of The Woods by Laird Hunt.
I also really liked You’ve Lost A Lot Of Blood by Eric Larocca.
Trippy sounds great. Really wish my lib would stock LaRocca 😫
Our Wives Under the Sea was my favorite book I read in 2022. I hope you love it!
I did really like it! Haunting melancholy vagueness. Perfect vibes 👌
Our Wives Under the Sea & We Spread are some of my favourites from this year! I especially loved how the last 2 chapters respectively ended in Our Wives Under the Sea, it moved me so much!
I read Penpal a few years ago as part of a bookclub, I think it started out as some Reddit (?) horror story and was then printed, it reads as such too but it is definitely unputdownable!
Ok ok ok Catriona Ward is one of my new favourite authors - I read The last House on Needless Street first which had my jaw on the floor and I followed it up with Sundial and Looking Glass Sound. This author finds new ways of crafting intriguing, twisty, dark literary fiction books with every one of them, 100% recommend!
For some reason, CZcams keeps deleting my reply to you. Hopefully, this one actually goes through!
I completely agree with you about the end of OWUTS. It was the perfect end for the vague melancholy of the novel. And heartbreaking. I also loved the disintegration of the body and relationship as the time slowly went on. If Penpal started on Reddit that's so cool. And I have yet to read a Catriona Ward despite having checked them out from the library 🙈
@@biblioobscura it went through! :)
Ah yes I’m glad you enjoyed it as well ☺️
Curious to see what you think of Catriona Ward as an avid horror reader!
I DNF'd Ghost Eaters, but I loved Chapman's other book Whisper Down the Lane, so check that one out even if Ghost Eaters doesn't work well for you!
We Can Never Leave This Place is still my favorite LaRocca to date!! And OMG The Laws of the Skies and Gone to See the River Man YES!!! Both are so grueling and messed up and fun. Hope you are feeling better!! ଘ(੭*ˊᵕˋ)੭* ̀ˋ
Hadn't even heard of Whisper Down the Lane! Thx!! I put in a request for my lib to order Laws of the Skies so 🤞 Hope you're reading something good rn ❤
Omg I missed you!!!
Awwww thanks! Was having a spicy menty b but feeling a bit better now 🤞
@@biblioobscura totally totally get it!!! I'm you took a break to take care of yourself ♡
We Spread was a 5 star for me. I read it 6 months ago and it is still with me.
Oooooh exciting! Hopefully my library has it! 💕
@@biblioobscura But I'm almost 60 so aging scares me! 😂
