    Keith Moon, the drummer, died three weeks after the Who Are You album was released. Coincidentally, the album cover pictured the band standing back stage on top of piles of various stage equipment, with Moon sitting in a folding chair turned around backwards with the message "Not To Be Taken Away" stenciled in white on the back. The music in this video is a tad rough compared with the final version, but it's still great as your reaction shows!

    Keith Moon, the drummer, was known as "Moon the Loon".
    Crazy would be putting it mildly.

      He was actually autistic, which made him hyper focused on the drums. He ws obsessed with the drums because of his disorder.

    @MrCbaldwin Před 2 lety +12

    The late great Keith Moon is the name of the drummer. A brilliant talent, he was known as ‘Moon the Loon’ because of his crazy lifestyle and outrageous behaviour. There is simply no one like him in all of music. Guitarist, Pete Townsend, tells a particular story of touring on the road with Moon. One night Pete found himself sitting alone inside his hotel room wondering what the rest of the band were up to. No sooner had he thought this when suddenly he heard a loud scratching on the opposite wall coming from the next room. It got louder and louder until suddenly a vodka bottle burst through a hole in the wall, then Moon stuck his head through and asked Pete, “Fancy a drink?” This was a common thing with Keith - destroying hotel rooms and hurling TV’s out his hotel balcony, etc. Because of this, The Who were eventually banned for life from ever staying in a Holiday Inn hotel.

    • @bigsky3072
      @bigsky3072 Před rokem +1

      Keith was actually autistic, so this disorder made him become obsessed with the drums. He had a specific order on how to do things. Once, he made the chauffeur drive back to the hotel because he had forgotten to throw the TV out the window, which was a tradition for Keirh.

      Shhh...you'll draw in LZ fans with that proclamation, and they'll proceed to tear Moon apart and put Bonham way above him! Seriously, like both drummers, but like Moon, better than any other rock drummer because of his style, flair, and originality - however, in my opinion there is no "best"...they all have their particular idiosyncrasies, styles, and habits. I love Moon, as I love Hendrix, because they both were groundbreaking for the instruments they played. When Keith Moon first appeared on the stage in 1964, there was nobody like him. His unorthodox approach, his double-bass mastery, his octopus-like ability to play all the drums, all the time - and make it sound great -... that is why I think he's truly "great".

    If you liked this version of The Who and their drummer, Keith Moon, watch some of their live concert material. The Isle of Wight concert 1970, the Tanglewood Concert 1970, Charlton 1974, their concert at the Summit in Houston 1975. You will be able to truly see the genius showmanship and talent of Keith Moon during these concerts and others concerts as well.

    "In case of Keith Moon, break glass." I will never forget that hilarious sign from the movie "The Kids Are Alright." Keith was unique, one of a kind - and a huge loss to the band. One of my favorite drummers EVER. That said, the band eventually proved they could go on without him (it was different, of course, and no slight to Keith intended here) when Zak Starkey came aboard. Not so for John Entwistle, though. The day John died, The Who died with him as far as I'm concerned. Again, not saying Keith could be "replaced", but the power and the fury were back when Zak became their drummer. As for Entwistle? Having seen The Who both with John and after he died, I can honestly say that a huge part of their sound is gone forever without John. Best rock bassist of all time; such a singular talent, so powerful....and The Who as we knew them are gone with him. They're still really, really good, but they will never be the same. I call 'em The Two now.

    If you never watched "The Muppets" you never saw Kieth Moon's alter-ego - in their pit band - your loss on one level - but; to see Kieth 'on song' with the Who, more than makes up for it... The man was a flawed genious, tragic and magic - burning the candle at both ends - taken too young - but leaving a legacy few can come near to equal...

    One of my favorite songs. The mix on the promo video is a little different than the album track, but what a fun behind the scenes video!. My friend Candy is great friends with the lead singer Roger Daltry and once picked her up in private plane and they flew to Las Vegas so she could watch him perform with The Who and she took videos! So cool.

    I love this video because these guys are fun to watch. This song is about Pete being extremely drunk in public. A cop finds him and tells Pete (guitarist) if he can walk, he'll let him go home. He finds the underground station and starts spewing his wows or grievances on the ride home. If you really like them here, you'll LOVE 🥰watching their movie 🎥The Kids Are Alright🎶. It's clips from concerts, tv appearances, interviews, etc. Great fun. ✌🏻🖖🏻

      Keith Moon was actually autistic, which made him completely obsessed with the drums. Sadly he died a few weeks after this song and album was released. From an overdose of alcohol and barbiturates.
      He had about 26 undigested barbiturate pills in his stomach when he died.

    I scanned a few previous comments and saw lots of well-deserved love for Keith Moon. It should not be overlooked that The Who was one of the most influential rock bands to come out of Great Britain in the 1960s. The Who gained prominence throughout the 1970s until Moon's untimely death in 1978. They experienced a resurgence in the 1980s but failed to regain the "it" factor they had with Moon - props to Kenny Jones for being the first post-Moon drummer and doing fantastic work, but he lacked the showmanship factor. Each member of The Who is uniquely talented and has produced some great solo work, especially Townshend, but the band is another example of the whole being better than the sum of its parts. "Long Live Rock"!

    Moon was autistic😢 plus drugs, plus alcohol. A GENIUS DRUMMER, but even if i liked him, even if he seemed sooo gentle, he's beaten his wife,mother of her only child,a daughter, several times, He broke her noise with his head very violently and he "killed" his best friend also bodyguard coz neo nazis wanted attack Keith and totally afraid he has accidentaly roll on his head's friend who is dead😢😢. An accident of course, Moon has been devastated but he was drunk, and he insulted neo nazis so he put him and his best friend in grave danger...
    I do understand everybody loves Keith, he had his adorable smile and face but... Not a saint at all
