    Great update! Glad you are getting to the bottom of your health concerns: as someone with rest heart rate in the low 30s I totally understand your feelings while speaking to the GP! I’m a type 1 diabetic too, so massive congrats to your sister (I think?) for finishing the race!

    Nice summary Cole. It was such a weird day mainly thanks to the weather but atmosphere around the course was surreal. I was hoping for somewhere near my PB but fell 7mins short, it just wasn’t the day or course for it. It’s great to hear you’re in the Manchester Half to have another go. It will be really interesting to see how you go. I’m also doing Vitality on Sunday but they have put me in the Woman’s only wave, that’ll be fun!!!
    Lastly, glad to hear you’re getting a thorough MOT done and fingers crossed all goes well with the 24hr ECG.

    Nice to meet you at GNR Cole. I haven’t been running long just gone a year this week but 2 months into my running journey I was getting 15/20 heart palpitations per minute literally constant and didn’t go to the GP until a week later (stupid I know) they could not believe I didn’t go straight to A&E 😂 they gave me beta blockers and it returned back to normal after a week and I got similar checks to you and all was good. Came off the meds after 6 weeks or so and haven’t had one since. They ended up concluding it was the exercise (which I did go all in on). Just makes me think it could have been your intense block into the GNR. Anyway hope it’s all good which I’m sure it will be and I’m glad your sister is on the mend and doing well also! Keep up the good work 😎💪🏽

    My quads still arnt 100% recovered. I was actually concerned i must be running wrong. 😅 glad it wasnt just me.
    You did unbelievable getting so close to your goal pace. And the great north run ive found youre actually training for the day not just the run. Like you mentioned its hard to warm up and theres the whole getting dropped off and walking to start etc the bag drop was too far away this year imo.

    • @ColeRunning
      @ColeRunning  Před 10 měsíci

      The bag drop was a bit further than last year from what I heard so yeah not ideal! Definitely not alone on the quad DOMS. I’m unsure if it was the hills or the standing in a queue freezing for 4 hours that causes the achey legs 🤣

    Good luck with Vitality 10K and the Manchester HM. I've heard the Manchester Marathon course is very flat and a good PB course so I imagine the HM course is quick also and high unlikely you will be face temperatures you had to suffer in the GNR.

    Hi Cole congrats on the sub 70 that’s insane!! Just wondering you mentioned your heart rate should be 198 if you take 220 minus your age, have you ever gotten above that figure either doing a max heart rate test or a all out 5k or something like that?? It’s just cause my 220 minus my age heart rate would be 196 but I’ve hit over 205 a few times using a chest strap monitor

    • @ColeRunning
      @ColeRunning  Před 10 měsíci +1

      It’s just a ballpark figure mate, very rough estimate so I wouldn’t stress about being above it unless you’re in abnormal pain 😁

  • @_Tp__
    @_Tp__ Před 10 měsíci +1

    I don’t really have a low heart rate. Maybe it’s because i’m quite young but my resting heart rate is about average maybe a bit below and my max heart rate is really high (about 220 bpm). Sometimes I do get a bit concerned about it.

    • @ColeRunning

    2 mins 33 to take of when it's flat and cold? It's happening mate, just a matter of the right course and the right weather. I had a sip of water then poured 2 bottles over my heat..a little too much near the end as my alphafys were squelching, but what a power boost when you drench yourself. My soar vest felt very heavy though.

    • @ColeRunning

    I find that plated shoes are especially punishing for the quads on a downhill.
    Shortening the stride and higher cadence would alleviate the strain a bit.

    • @mikehobbs624
      @mikehobbs624 Před 10 měsíci +1

      I agree. I ran a race in plated shoes not so long back and there were some really steep downhills, I could barely walk for 2 days afterwards!

    Random palpitations...try cutting out all caffeine for a weak and see if it makes a difference. It sorted mine as well as sleeping issues, bloating and breathing problems. Annoying though as it helps you run faster.

    • @ColeRunning
      @ColeRunning  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Thanks mate, I’ve cut out the caffiene for the past week, sleep has massively improved but still getting the palpitations. Thanks so mate!

    • @MTBEAST007
      @MTBEAST007 Před 10 měsíci +1

      @ColeRunning well done. Its amazing how caffeine builds up in your system and messes your sleep up over the weeks. I could fall asleep but then wake up after 4 or 5 hours tired but couldnt drop off again. Mmm, palpitationx can be a pain to find the cause of if not caffeine. I've had them during a period of grief 5 years ago and 9 years ago during a period of stress at work. It did go away on its own though once the pressure was lifted so if you can find a way to live a life of as little pressure/stress as possible for a while it might just go away like mine did twice. I bet the youtube life can add pressure to perform.

    Poor form claiming you scalped Stephen Scullion regardless.

    • @Slayer-yy4tz
      @Slayer-yy4tz Před 10 měsíci +3

      Bruh this is just an L comment so when I show up on race day and beat people better than me I shouldn't be happy lol . Cole ain't trying to knock him down he's just happy regardless of fitness when you show up on that line to race nothing matters but that race and time. So silly to think he's having a knock at Scullion cos scullions knows when he trains well and puts it together he's great but still Scullion a pro and top class lad anyone would feel good bout finishing ahead. Anyway a singular race isn't that important I think your trying to deep smth that isn't there

    • @ColeRunning
      @ColeRunning  Před 10 měsíci +9

      Come on man I don’t seriously believe I’d beat Scully on a normal day. Just a small silver lining that came from a mad day. Same with Thommo. I know full well I couldn’t touch them on a normal day.

    • @jamie7838
      @jamie7838 Před 10 měsíci +16

      Of course you can be happy. But to me considering what Stephen Scullion is going through and his emotional video after the race it leaves a bad taste. Just because that fella says “bruh this is an L comment” doesn’t change my opinion that claiming you scalped him comes across as dickheadish.

    • @ColeRunning
      @ColeRunning  Před 10 měsíci +7

      I appreciate your point of view. It wasn’t about who I beat, more about the prestige they have. If I’d beaten an Olympic shot-putter I still would’ve called it ‘how I beat 2 Olympians’. It was just at face value, and I even reached out to Stephen after his video to check he was all good. I’ve always loved his videos and he did a bonkers workout the Thursday before the race. I know my place and was not intending to be disrespectful to Stephen at all.
