    There was such a huge difference for me between the 82 and the 85 injectorBarrel but I don’t really see that would make a difference but it’s really interesting to know why they changed it

      Yeah the dimensions of the injector nozzle housing did change but I'm pretty sure they're interchangeable

    Hey John I just did this yesterday with my 300 SD I did not have the Monarch tips to replace the Bosch tips because that’s all I could find at the time vehicle seems to be running much better. I have really enjoyed your videos on the 617 I just replaced the head and Believe me it has been a challenge I consider myself a good mechanic.

    I did this a few weeks ago on my W116. It gets better fuel economy and has more power. Number 5 is leaking though so it has to come out so I can lap the pieces again.

      Yeah I had to remove one and retorque also. Pretty normal to have to do that.

    The heat shield has a groove on top part because it has to fit nozzles that stick out just a bit and
    when screwing what should sit is the housing on the shield, not the nozzle or would damage it
    So before setting the shield into the motor test it on the injector to see if it sits properly
    if it doesn´t it will damage the nozzle and get full of carbon .

      On watching your video noticed older version is different than new one, the correct is the one with wider central depression !!!

      Yes , because mine is a 1962 version , and was never substituted , its not tin but steel and didn`t wear out.

      I think the total cost of the rebuild was a little over $3,500 but that also includes the purchase of some special tools. If you go to my website and go to the downloads section there is a spreadsheet showing the complete cost and parts list. www.woodsandbarclay.com

    Is it okay to put more than 1 shims together, to get the right pressure. Or only 1?

      Yes you can put five or six in there if you need to it often takes several different sizes to get to the right pressure.

    John there is such a big difference between the injector chambers diameter of the hole going into the block between each year it is really confusing

      You can order them from mercedessource.com I never tried to search anywhere else I just know they have them so it's pretty easy to just order from them

    all that work, kit is about what 450 ? injectors? you can get brand new injectors from bosch for 650 shipped from germany

      I own a professional shop and do this all the time. For an amateur like yourself it may be easier to just order a set of injectors. But for a professional shop it's better to be able to rebuild them. Also when you order injectors there's no telling if they're going to be pressure tested correctly and be good quality. I pressure test and pop test mine and I get them exactly correct. If you want something done right you really need to do it yourself. Doing this job yourself will save you hundreds of dollars and you will have a superior product.

      @@woodsandbarclay you dont even know me :D i have my master in mechanics. own a bunch of cars, and a real pro shop :D i get them directly from bosch and they are tested ;) iam doing that for 30+ years buddy

      @@mikki9644 Then you should know you save hundreds of dollars pop testing and building the injectors yourself. Bosch doesn't even do it right sometimes and they are producing their parts in Indian now.

    Why did you lower your injectors pop pressure?
    I'm asking because I just increased mine the other day to 2,000psi.

      Mine are set to the factory specified values they are not lowered yours are actually higher than the specified values by the factory service manual

      on the side of the injector, it said 135bar so I thought I was supposed to pop at 2,000 psi.

    Pressure should be about 1500 ps

      These are actually for a turbo motor so the PSI is around 1950 or 135 bar

    Can someone tell me the meaning: " the diference between any two injections nozzies within one engine not exceed 5 bar positive" thanks. Second, my pression is 115 + 8, whats is meaning? I imagines the meaning is inyector can arribe 123 bars? thanks

      It just means you need to get the pressure the same on all of them
