Parts availability is not a threat they made hundreds of thousands of these vehicles and parts are readily available. As soon as they stop becoming available the market will step in and start reproducing them exactly how it happened for classic American muscle cars. For example you can build a 1968 Camaro from scratch every single nut and bolt and part is available in the aftermarket. We are already starting to see this happen with classic Mercedes.

I am seeing a wide range of prices for similar vehicles. One seller is asking $44,000 for a ‘91 with 26,000 miles and another wants $24,000 for a ‘91 with 29,000.

Yes prices for classic cars are all over the board. Each car is totally unique and two of the exact same models can be tens of thousands of dollars apart in price.

And even so, many of these have been parted out and junked for small things like fender benders and other mechanical things that could have been repaired for a reasonable amount. Unfortunately, many older mercedes have fallen into the hands of people without any appreciation for them.

This video is about a valve adjustment and Hood pad installation. There are no parts other than the hood pad and the glue. So I'm not sure what you're talking about.

@@woodsandbarclay the fuel primer you installed, the switch to a different pre fuel filter, the parts replace on the throttle.

​@@erico1603 I don't know the part number offhand but you can just go on Google and type in 300D primer pump and it will pop right up. 300D pre fuel filter and it will also pop right up.

@@woodsandbarclay I tried to adjust my Bowden cable the way you did but mine doesnt spring forward the way yours does. Maybe I need a new spring and a new rubber boot part

​@@erico1603 is your throttle return spring is missing or broken then yes you'll need a new one. However most likely the little lever that the Bowden cable attaches to is on the wrong side of the tab. There's a little tab the lever bumps up against and if it's on the wrong side of that lever it won't return.

Well a 300D really will never be as quiet as an SD because an SD has way more insulation. What you could do is remove all of the interior and lay down insulation all throughout the car and then re-install the interior. We use dynamat to do this on an old muscle cars.

@@woodsandbarclay that was indeed my second idea. Insulate the floor and doors. Do you know if the roof is insulated on the SD? Because if you hit the roof on a w123 from the outside, it resonates a lot.

I have never checked by removing the headliner but I'm sure there is insulation on the roof. That is where all the heat from the sun hits.

No we specialize in the diesel Mercedes we have only had one 600 in the shop. There's a gentleman in California that rebuilds wiring harnesses by hand and if you have one of those cars just look them up on eBay.

These are definitely "around town" cars. The bigger 300SD and 300D models are your highway cruisers

I doubt Mercedes has the production numbers based on options but it is definitely extremely rare in this setup.
