I just wish Astruc had less influence. He, according to he himself, is the one who assassinated Chloe's character arc and any attempts to shine a light somewhere besides marinette.
One thing I wish they had done was to have Marinette start interning for the Gabriel Brand after Season 2, and this would've made everything so much better. It would've given a reason for Adrien and Marinette to spend so much time together without her coming off as a stalker, made her rivalry with Lila deeper than just petty anger, and created an exciting dynamic with Gabriel admiring civilian Marinette's creative designs while hating Ladybug. At the same time, Marinette slowly unravels the truth about Gabriel, putting her into an awkward position between her future and doing what's right.
ABSOLUTELY! I love this idea so much. It would have been so entertaining to watch that dynamic unfold and really would've made that finale fight much more interesting and reasonable
Miraculous is a show that has such a good concept. The Love square, backstories, characters motivations, the symbolisms, everything. But the problem is how Thomas handles it. How it's excuted. This show should get a reboot by someone who actually cares about his characters and plot.
A big issue I have with this show is how toxicity is portrayed and addressed (or not): 1. Gabriel emotionally abuses Adrien and everyone labels him as just being overprotective, and Adrien doesn't recognize toxic behavior as a result. I always bring up his "be nice or we won't be friends anymore" thing with Chloe; doing that more than once is no longer bargaining, but emotional blackmail--plus he was choosy with when he brought it up; in between the two times he did it, Chloe had done a lot of bad stuff. Plus he idolizes Ladybug despite her showing negative traits a lot, and he keeps harassing her even when she tells him no. 2. Marinette's a stalker and the show DOUBLED DOWN on it by giving her a reason to be like that with Adrien that everyone agreed with. 3. Chloe's family sucks and there are terrible double stamdards with her mom ignoring her and bringing in her half-sister (did she have Zoe right after she left Chloe and Andre?), and her father having no backbone to deny her and quickly form a bond with Zoe. Nevermind Sabrina.

Yes that's the real issue of the show the main pair don't work cause it's very toxic and another point is that Marinette herself said that she dislikes chat noir personality yet that's Adrien actual personality but since the girl has to be perfect they change that to both chat noir and the mask Adrien put to his father both being his real self and the worst part is Marinette only loves the mask Adrien uses Infront of everyone Plus Kagami and Felix is a complete red flag relationship

2: Marinette stalking never really causes harm and considering she rarely does i see why thet don't mind at first and as seasons go by it becomes more creepy and obssesive and The Season 4 finale Alya says it has gone too far and she puts an end to it
So... i am supposed to forgive Gabriel for: never spending time with his son, forced him to go to London and never saw his friends, puts him in a large room with no windows which is TORTURE! He also turns innocent people into villains and destroyed Paris multiple times. Nope, i can't forgive him! This guy was a terrible parent! I will never think of Gabriel as a good person 😠

I dropped the show after the season 4 finale, I was burned out after so many great concepts the show never followed up on and Astruc ruining his own characters and story. After season 5 ended and everybody was talking about how bad it was, I checked some review channels like Cyrus the Great, and lo and behold, it was even worse than I thought! I'm half heartedly looking forward to season 6 because I heard Astruc won't be involved, but I'm not holding my breath. But if they address the fact Adrien didn't come to know Hawkmoth's identity and later on create a rift between him and Marinette because she kept the truth from him despite them dating, then this might be worth watching!
Yeah... they can only do a fake reveal or a fake marinette akuma every so often, before it just gets old. With the way they stretch out story arcs.. after a certain point, you just don't care anymore. When Marinette and Adrien "finally" had their kiss, i felt absolutely nothing. I wasn't invested in it for a long time at that point. What the main problem of the show is imo, is its refusal to change and let go of the status quo. The first arc should've ended at season 2, or 3 at the latest. It just feels like the writers actually have no idea how to tell an interesting story without certain established elements. They stretch out the reveal because they just wouldn't know how to write a post-reveal character dynamic. Same reason why all the superheroes where only temporary. The biggest thing like this is with the main villain. We get the same Akuma a day plot for 131 episodes ( which is the exact length of Dragonball super in its entirity) with barely any divergence. And now that we've finished the first "arc" What's up next? More Akuma a day plots, just a different person sending them out! Why?? I mean look at how sailor moon did it. ( spoilers for that show ofc) Within the first season, it had: - permanent new hero additions to spice up the dynamic every few episodes - conclusion to the romance plot between the main girl and her love interest + identity reveal - defeat of the first major Villain. How long did it take them? *46 episodes* And there's 200 in total What's stopping MLB? When we actually do get the reveal.. why should we even care anymore? I was 13 when the show started and am now 21. I just can't find myself invested in any of the plot threads anymore. The only one that was paced very well was the Chloe arc.. until they decided to nix that out of nowhere. It's a shame. But that's why i'm so excited for awakening 2! We'll get to explore completely new dynamics. How do Marinette and Adrien interact post-reveal? How does Gabriel come to terms with what he's done? Considering he's still alive in this, he can make ammends and face his past. How will a non-akuma based villain work? I mean it's clear that Mayura will probably be the big bad, but maybe the peacock powers are different? Considering Ladybug didn't have a lucky charm, i think nothing is off the table. After all they are using the season 1 green and blue Design for the miraculous, so who knows? I love that this is all uncertain territory, which makes me so excited! Very refreshing from the very stagnant and repetitive show
Yeah, the story plot in season 1 of that Japanese anime was handled a LOT better than any parts of this show. ( also VIZ media did a better job at dubbing SM than DIC and Cloverway did) Imo MLB looks like a cheaply made and poorly written rip-off of the Sailor Moon anime.
Yes, yes, yes! I 100% agree. I think the writers don't know how to write a post- redemption Chloe hence why they hit her with that narrative reset and made her the bully again. Same case with the love square and not doing the reveal because they are unsure on how to write that dynamic and its uncertain whether the audience will enjoy the way the show is continued after the reveal. But at least we have the awakening movie to look forward too and i'm absolutely hyped for that too!!

For me, the real 'reveal' was Alya finding out Ladybug's true identity. She has always been a good character, often a fan favorite, and she's been there since the beginning. This didn't change when Rena Rouge came into the picture. While Alya herself didn't find out (as many suspected at one point), it was still insane to see her find out, as most viewers assumed it just wouldn't happen anymore (after the first few seasons). This reveal shook the show up, but only for a little while (I'm referring to the batch of Rena Rouge episodes in season 4). Still, after everything, it's always great to see Marinette now has a friend, a great one, who knows her secret.
I honestly left the show when they revert Chloe back to the bully role and nuke her character. But honestly this show can be summed up as 'wasted potential' considering there's so many good plot ideas but they just don't execute it well at all
Tey do some things well such the eps as motivations and Some of the characters are well done most of the time Like Marinette despite her moments of bad writing she is pretty well written as a whole and Nathalie too However there are eps where the writing isn't really up there like Desperada the only I'd ever watch that again is at gunpoint and Characters like Chloè and Felix are not done very well like at this point these 2 are just plot devices sorry if like them
I think one of the grand problems of Miraculous (as said in video) is it’s format. As soon as stuff picked up in S2 in character progression, the show should have stopped the part in the “villain of the week” trope where things reset after each episode. I think the villain of the week thing can still work without resetting established characters/lore developments. But because the writers (especially Astruc) was so fixated on wanting the show to be watched in a way you can jump in at any time, the resets stuck to the point where established lore got retconned and character development got wasted. The structure held the show back.
I still remember in season 1 how the Origins episode was the 22nd episode. Not aired out of date or anything. They just thought for some reason that it’d be a good idea to have the setup episode be right near the end of the season. When I first started watching it, I was so confused. I gave Origins a watch & was like “Oh. So that’s what these things are all about.” No reason it couldn’t have been the actual first episode of the show.
The thing with Miraculous is not that it doesn't have good episodes. I can acknowledge that even as someone who stopped watching during season 3. It definitely has good episodes. An issue with the show is that when you get to the bad moments/bad episodes, they are so terrible they tend to leave a mark on the show. Puppeteer 2 is the perfect example of that. I believe that was a season 3 episode, yet the wax statue scene haunts the show to this day, and no amount of excuses the show offered actually made the scene less awful.

I’m one of those people who quit watching when the show Bible leaked, I didn’t even dare peek at it but I just had enough… drama after drama, episodes airing out of order and my own lack of patience making me watch new episodes in the languages they first aired in rather then waiting weeks or even months until those episodes aired in English, at least I was lucky enough that most of those premieres were in French or Brazilian Portuguese since I partly grew up with these languages and know them just well enough to follow a story but it was still quite exhausting! I still haven’t rewatched seasons 2-4 in English and have only seen the first 2 episodes of season 5 and don’t know when I will be in the right headspace to do so because I’ve experienced too much cartoon related drama (seriously it feels like not a single cartoon has been able to do anything right/had the time and space to grow and flourish since gravity falls ended!)
I absolutely get where you're coming from! At some point, you get so exhausted with how things are being handled. I even stopped creating for over 2 years because I was just so DONE with this show. I literally had to take a whole year after watching the S5 finale to recover before talking about it. When you find a good cartoon with no drama, please let me know😭
God I have such a love/hate relationship with Miraculous. I’ve been a fan since the PV days (2012 when I was a LITERAL PRETEEN). I would have stopped watching then and there I had known that over 12 years later we still wouldn’t have any sort of identity reveal/relationship. I gave up during season 5 and that breaks my heart. But I’m an adult in my mid twenties now (and with a much better understanding of animation/film/writing) I just don’t have the time or energy to really care about this show anymore and that hurts. I truly love these characters and the concept for the story. But over the years, I found much better written and compelling romance stories elsewhere so Miraculous just doesn’t do it for me anymore. I’ll probably still follow the plot at least since I’ve already invested 12 years into it. I did enjoy the movie though, so I know this series had the potential to be good! God I wish I lived in the timeline where they went with the original PV concept instead 😭😂

My main theory on why the ending is the way it is. Is cat balnc as maybe the writer thought if adrein found out it would trigger cat balnc and not victory against monarch. Which i can understand somewhat bug still a lot more was involved in the cat blanc timeline. And doing it this way just robs adrien of any true development for the season
Ohhh, i see. That's what gets me about this show though. Their bad writing decisions kinda make sense in canon but in the long term, it just doesn't work for the plot and story
I stopped watching this show years ago because Marinette was the main character and I HATED her, she was so creepy towards Adrien and often this would drag her in the mud when she is supposed to be the star role model for viewers. I've seen discussions about future seasons and it seems she hasn't grown at all besides being less clumsy (which didn't really affect her as Ladybug anyways).
As someone who's watched Miraculous since it aired on nickelodeon, im so disappointed with the show now. The plot and concept was so good but after the half of season 3 it just lost it's spark. I know 4th grade me had so many great theories and headcannons but unfortunately the creator cant properly write arcs
What i find most fascinating about the show is that, most if not all of the problems can be stemmed back to the first season. Sure, most shows first season can be rough around the edges, they can smooth them out as the show progresses. Yet, for some unfathomable reason, the show didn’t address these problems until they reached a boiling point. The foundation they set up was faulty and started to break. It is almost fascinating how the show not only dropped the ball, but threw it off a cliff

Miraculous Ladybug is one of those shows where the concept is good, but the execution is terrible. 1) I am okay with Chloe not being fully redeemed, but how they handled it was garbage. They could have made it where she was trying, but Ladybug or Cat Noir doubted her, and she allows that doubt to control here. Felix gets a redemption arc, but not Chloe? Felix who arguably did worse things than Chloe ever did? Like, if you aren't going to do a redemption for Chloe, you have to give reasons why Chloe fails to redeem herself, beyond "That's just Chloe's character!" Gabe even gets a redemption in the finale of his arc ... but Chloe doesn't even get a chance at one? Sorry, but Felix and Gabe are objectively worse characters. Natalie's redemption arc was the best in the series, so we know they can write decent ones. 2) Sidelining Cat Noir for the final fight was stupid. Now you put unnecessary additional tension between Marinette and Adrien for the future, if you want the couple together, they do not need to do on again off again bs and that is what I fear it will lead too. The movie was better where both characters mattered in the defeat of Gabriel, and arguably Cat Noir matter more than Marinette. 3) There were so many ways to handle Marinette and Adrien's "romance" besides having her being a stalker fan girl. It is just all the wrong messaging to be sending to young viewers. 4) I was fine with Season 1 being Villain of the week as that helped build the world, but as soon as they started to pull in other people to be heroes, the villain of the week goes out the window. You can't have an overarching story and villain of the week, you have to pick one. There can still be villain of the week episodes in an overarching story, but most episodes need to progress the narrative. A lot of the episodes still fall into villain of the week in later seasons. Miraculous Ladybug as is would have been a fine show in the late 80s early 90s designed to sell toys. But, children's media isn't like that anymore. It has evolved significantly beyond just the desire to sell toys. And I can't even say that if Miraculous Ladybug was released in the 80s to 90s would have made a splash or dent in the shows from that era.
In my opinion one of the biggest mistakes of the whole show was adding the "miraculous ladybug " ability that just rectones all the damage done by pretty much any villian of the week, no matter what they do. There are basically no stakes in seasons 1-3, because it doesn't exactly matter how many people are going to die and in what horrbile ways this can happen if a single spell that is ALWAYS used at the end of the episode can repair ALL the damage this is one of the key factors that cause the "nothing actually happened" feeling, as well as the absence of character development in a good portion of the show: if there are no stakes & no consequences, the characters just don't NEED to change. So ofc they don't.
I agree, even though they tried to show what happens without the whole "miraculous ladybug!" in the NY special, it would've been great to see such an event in the actual show.

Citing realism is a copout in my opinion as they proceeded to EXAGGERATE her worst traits in season 4 and treat her downfall as some sort of joke instead of a tragedy.
It’s really disappointing. This show had the potential if they went with the anime version they sure had a potential to be the next my hero academia or the next JJK have had a big influence if you only did it well.

I wouldn't say the Show is getting badder or that the final ending of Hawkmowths legacy was bad. I agree, that it's annoying to wait for an actual reveal but in Chat Blanc (as only one example) we get explained why this isn't a good idea. Of course it was sad, that he wasn't there in the final battle fight, but if he would have been there, the world would have ended like it did in Chat Blanc! With the moon destroyed too. Adrien is a Sentimonster, like his Cousin Felix. So it's just not possible to him, to refuse or stand up to his father, even if he wants too! Of course the writers have wrotten themselfs in this part in a croner which only could be solved by the fact that he just couldn't end up being in the final battle. But i for myself think, everything in this Show was well explained and with every season the Show got even better Episodes! I mean, Marinette as a Charakter alone got so much more likeable for me through out the seasons. In the first one she was a litterly annoying Stalker!! And the problem for me was that it's not just annoying and not funny go watch, it got normalized!! Imagine the sides would have been switched and Marinette would have been a Boy or Adrien would be a Stalker!! This would be just creepy!! Now she is fr just a normal girl and i like her much more as such than her as a Stalker. And to have the oppitunity open, that the final relationship of Adrien and Marinette, one thing we waited for ages to see them finally together, could be now destroyed by the fact, that Marinette lied to Adrien about his father, is such a great idea to work with, in my opinion! Of course it's sad, that they got completly rid of Luka, but i'm sure they will later on lean into his Story more and explain why he needed to be gone and what he did with this Master. Beside the fact that it was explained he needed to be gone, because he knew both indentities and Gabriel could have used him to get what he wanted.
Never watched the show but me personally if I was writing miraculous ladybug I would completely cut out all the romance in favor of more character development and advancing the story
I still plan to watch the series, even if I rip my hair out at every season that is out of order and every reveal that gets undone at the end of the episode

The Awakening movie might have had good animations and graphics, but the story was horrible, either if you are a miraculous series fan or not. Was I supposed to cry when Gabriel detransforms surrounded with butterflies while Marinette was forgotten and lying in a corner? Because I was feeling utterly embarrassed. Encanto did a good job with an emotional familiar ending scene with butterflies, unlike Awakening. I know this has nothing to do with this video, I just wanted to vent my frustation about the movie.

Yeah... they can only do a fake reveal or a fake marinette akuma every so often, before it just gets old. With the way they stretch out story arcs.. after a certain point, you just don't care anymore. When Marinette and Adrien "finally" had their kiss, i felt absolutely nothing. I wasn't invested in it for a long time at that point. What the main problem of the show is imo, is its refusal to change and let go of the status quo. The first arc should've ended at season 2, or 3 at the latest. It just feels like the writers actually have no idea how to tell an interesting story without certain established elements. They stretch out the reveal because they just wouldn't know how to write a post-reveal character dynamic. Same reason why all the superheroes where only temporary. The biggest thing like this is with the main villain. We get the same Akuma a day plot for 131 episodes ( which is the exact length of Dragonball super in its entirity) with barely any divergence. And now that we've finished the first "arc" What's up next? More Akuma a day plots, just a different person sending them out! Why?? I mean look at how sailor moon did it. ( spoilers for that show ofc)
Within the first season, it had:
- permanent new hero additions to spice up the dynamic every few episodes
- conclusion to the romance plot between the main girl and her love interest + identity reveal
- defeat of the first major Villain.
How long did it take them?

What's stopping MLB? When we actually do get the reveal.. why should we even care anymore? I was 13 when the show started and am now 21. I just can't find myself invested in any of the plot threads anymore. The only one that was paced very well was the Chloe arc.. until they decided to nix that out of nowhere. It's a shame.
But that's why i'm so excited for awakening 2! We'll get to explore completely new dynamics. How do Marinette and Adrien interact post-reveal? How does Gabriel come to terms with what he's done? Considering he's still alive in this, he can make ammends and face his past. How will a non-akuma based villain work? I mean it's clear that Mayura will probably be the big bad, but maybe the peacock powers are different? Considering Ladybug didn't have a lucky charm, i think nothing is off the table. After all they are using the season 1 green and blue Design for the miraculous, so who knows? I love that this is all uncertain territory, which makes me so excited! Very refreshing from the very stagnant and repetitive show
Yeah, the story plot in season 1 of that Japanese anime was handled a LOT better than any parts of this show. ( also VIZ media did a better job at dubbing SM than DIC and Cloverway did) Imo MLB looks like a cheaply made and poorly written rip-off of the Sailor Moon anime.
Yes, yes, yes! I 100% agree. I think the writers don't know how to write a post- redemption Chloe hence why they hit her with that narrative reset and made her the bully again. Same case with the love square and not doing the reveal because they are unsure on how to write that dynamic and its uncertain whether the audience will enjoy the way the show is continued after the reveal. But at least we have the awakening movie to look forward too and i'm absolutely hyped for that too!!

For me, the real 'reveal' was Alya finding out Ladybug's true identity. She has always been a good character, often a fan favorite, and she's been there since the beginning. This didn't change when Rena Rouge came into the picture.
While Alya herself didn't find out (as many suspected at one point), it was still insane to see her find out, as most viewers assumed it just wouldn't happen anymore (after the first few seasons).
This reveal shook the show up, but only for a little while (I'm referring to the batch of Rena Rouge episodes in season 4). Still, after everything, it's always great to see Marinette now has a friend, a great one, who knows her secret.
And she still thinks that Lila is not a liar and does not want to hear/investigate her friend Marinette's version.
I honestly left the show when they revert Chloe back to the bully role and nuke her character.
But honestly this show can be summed up as 'wasted potential' considering there's so many good plot ideas but they just don't execute it well at all
Tey do some things well such the eps as motivations and Some of the characters are well done most of the time Like Marinette despite her moments of bad writing she is pretty well written as a whole and Nathalie too
However there are eps where the writing isn't really up there like Desperada the only I'd ever watch that again is at gunpoint and Characters like Chloè and Felix are not done very well like at this point these 2 are just plot devices sorry if like them

I think one of the grand problems of Miraculous (as said in video) is it’s format. As soon as stuff picked up in S2 in character progression, the show should have stopped the part in the “villain of the week” trope where things reset after each episode.
I think the villain of the week thing can still work without resetting established characters/lore developments. But because the writers (especially Astruc) was so fixated on wanting the show to be watched in a way you can jump in at any time, the resets stuck to the point where established lore got retconned and character development got wasted. The structure held the show back.

I still remember in season 1 how the Origins episode was the 22nd episode. Not aired out of date or anything. They just thought for some reason that it’d be a good idea to have the setup episode be right near the end of the season.
When I first started watching it, I was so confused. I gave Origins a watch & was like “Oh. So that’s what these things are all about.”

The thing with Miraculous is not that it doesn't have good episodes. I can acknowledge that even as someone who stopped watching during season 3. It definitely has good episodes. An issue with the show is that when you get to the bad moments/bad episodes, they are so terrible they tend to leave a mark on the show. Puppeteer 2 is the perfect example of that. I believe that was a season 3 episode, yet the wax statue scene haunts the show to this day, and no amount of excuses the show offered actually made the scene less awful.

I’m one of those people who quit watching when the show Bible leaked, I didn’t even dare peek at it but I just had enough… drama after drama, episodes airing out of order and my own lack of patience making me watch new episodes in the languages they first aired in rather then waiting weeks or even months until those episodes aired in English, at least I was lucky enough that most of those premieres were in French or Brazilian Portuguese since I partly grew up with these languages and know them just well enough to follow a story but it was still quite exhausting! I still haven’t rewatched seasons 2-4 in English and have only seen the first 2 episodes of season 5 and don’t know when I will be in the right headspace to do so because I’ve experienced too much cartoon related drama (seriously it feels like not a single cartoon has been able to do anything right/had the time and space to grow and flourish since gravity falls ended!)
I recommend watching amphibia. It's a nice cartoon show with lovable characters, an interesting world and an overall enjoyable story.
I absolutely get where you're coming from! At some point, you get so exhausted with how things are being handled. I even stopped creating for over 2 years because I was just so DONE with this show. I literally had to take a whole year after watching the S5 finale to recover before talking about it. When you find a good cartoon with no drama, please let me know😭

God I have such a love/hate relationship with Miraculous. I’ve been a fan since the PV days (2012 when I was a LITERAL PRETEEN). I would have stopped watching then and there I had known that over 12 years later we still wouldn’t have any sort of identity reveal/relationship. I gave up during season 5 and that breaks my heart. But I’m an adult in my mid twenties now (and with a much better understanding of animation/film/writing) I just don’t have the time or energy to really care about this show anymore and that hurts. I truly love these characters and the concept for the story. But over the years, I found much better written and compelling romance stories elsewhere so Miraculous just doesn’t do it for me anymore. I’ll probably still follow the plot at least since I’ve already invested 12 years into it. I did enjoy the movie though, so I know this series had the potential to be good! God I wish I lived in the timeline where they went with the original PV concept instead 😭😂

My main theory on why the ending is the way it is. Is cat balnc as maybe the writer thought if adrein found out it would trigger cat balnc and not victory against monarch. Which i can understand somewhat bug still a lot more was involved in the cat blanc timeline.

I stopped watching this show years ago because Marinette was the main character and I HATED her, she was so creepy towards Adrien and often this would drag her in the mud when she is supposed to be the star role model for viewers. I've seen discussions about future seasons and it seems she hasn't grown at all besides being less clumsy (which didn't really affect her as Ladybug anyways).
As someone who's watched Miraculous since it aired on nickelodeon, im so disappointed with the show now. The plot and concept was so good but after the half of season 3 it just lost it's spark. I know 4th grade me had so many great theories and headcannons but unfortunately the creator cant properly write arcs

What i find most fascinating about the show is that, most if not all of the problems can be stemmed back to the first season.
Sure, most shows first season can be rough around the edges, they can smooth them out as the show progresses.
Yet, for some unfathomable reason, the show didn’t address these problems until they reached a boiling point. The foundation they set up was faulty and started to break.
It is almost fascinating how the show not only dropped the ball, but threw it off a cliff

Miraculous Ladybug is one of those shows where the concept is good, but the execution is terrible.
1) I am okay with Chloe not being fully redeemed, but how they handled it was garbage. They could have made it where she was trying, but Ladybug or Cat Noir doubted her, and she allows that doubt to control here. Felix gets a redemption arc, but not Chloe? Felix who arguably did worse things than Chloe ever did? Like, if you aren't going to do a redemption for Chloe, you have to give reasons why Chloe fails to redeem herself, beyond "That's just Chloe's character!" Gabe even gets a redemption in the finale of his arc ... but Chloe doesn't even get a chance at one? Sorry, but Felix and Gabe are objectively worse characters. Natalie's redemption arc was the best in the series, so we know they can write decent ones.
2) Sidelining Cat Noir for the final fight was stupid. Now you put unnecessary additional tension between Marinette and Adrien for the future, if you want the couple together, they do not need to do on again off again bs and that is what I fear it will lead too. The movie was better where both characters mattered in the defeat of Gabriel, and arguably Cat Noir matter more than Marinette.
3) There were so many ways to handle Marinette and Adrien's "romance" besides having her being a stalker fan girl. It is just all the wrong messaging to be sending to young viewers.
4) I was fine with Season 1 being Villain of the week as that helped build the world, but as soon as they started to pull in other people to be heroes, the villain of the week goes out the window. You can't have an overarching story and villain of the week, you have to pick one. There can still be villain of the week episodes in an overarching story, but most episodes need to progress the narrative. A lot of the episodes still fall into villain of the week in later seasons.
Miraculous Ladybug as is would have been a fine show in the late 80s early 90s designed to sell toys. But, children's media isn't like that anymore. It has evolved significantly beyond just the desire to sell toys. And I can't even say that if Miraculous Ladybug was released in the 80s to 90s would have made a splash or dent in the shows from that era.
In my opinion one of the biggest mistakes of the whole show was adding the "miraculous ladybug " ability that just rectones all the damage done by pretty much any villian of the week, no matter what they do. There are basically no stakes in seasons 1-3, because it doesn't exactly matter how many people are going to die and in what horrbile ways this can happen if a single spell that is ALWAYS used at the end of the episode can repair ALL the damage
this is one of the key factors that cause the "nothing actually happened" feeling, as well as the absence of character development in a good portion of the show: if there are no stakes & no consequences, the characters just don't NEED to change. So ofc they don't.
I agree, even though they tried to show what happens without the whole "miraculous ladybug!" in the NY special, it would've been great to see such an event in the actual show.
12:42 The character had so much room to grow and showed sign of depth we’re yet to witness… Until the finale and season 4 rolled around. Citing realism is a copout in my opinion as they proceeded to EXAGGERATE her worst traits in season 4 and treat her downfall as some sort of joke instead of a tragedy.
It’s really disappointing. This show had the potential if they went with the anime version they sure had a potential to be the next my hero academia or the next JJK have had a big influence if you only did it well.

I agree, that it's annoying to wait for an actual reveal but in Chat Blanc (as only one example) we get explained why this isn't a good idea.
Of course it was sad, that he wasn't there in the final battle fight, but if he would have been there, the world would have ended like it did in Chat Blanc! With the moon destroyed too.
Adrien is a Sentimonster, like his Cousin Felix. So it's just not possible to him, to refuse or stand up to his father, even if he wants too!
Of course the writers have wrotten themselfs in this part in a croner which only could be solved by the fact that he just couldn't end up being in the final battle.

Of course it's sad, that they got completly rid of Luka, but i'm sure they will later on lean into his Story more and explain why he needed to be gone and what he did with this Master.

The Awakening movie might have had good animations and graphics, but the story was horrible, either if you are a miraculous series fan or not. Was I supposed to cry when Gabriel detransforms surrounded with butterflies while Marinette was forgotten and lying in a corner? Because I was feeling utterly embarrassed. Encanto did a good job with an emotional familiar ending scene with butterflies, unlike Awakening.
I know this has nothing to do with this video, I just wanted to vent my frustation about the movie.
