Well I also desperately waited for them to kiss when I watched the movie first time 9yrs ago.. It's just that, after some time you just forget they're animated..
fun fact: the reason flynn is so charming is because the writers brought all of the females working on the movie together and had them describe their dream guy

I never thought of that either until I read this comment. I always assumed the townspeople just didn't hardly go anywhere the posters were, and because Eugene and Rapunzel were careful to not let the guards see them.
one of my favorite things about Tangled was that there were no undying promises of love after a day of meeting. i found the whole " you were my new dream" and "did i ever tell you i have a thing for brunettes" so cute and it was more of a happy beginning to a cute romance rather than like most movies calling it true love and all that shit. and even at the end we get to know that they got married after many happy years. that was my favorite
This! It's not "Hey I just met you hours ago but we survived a crazy near-death experience so let's kiss and get married!" but "I kinda like you now after spending a day with you so let me just confess, see if you feel the same way, and take it from there" 🥺

I hate it when people say Flynn cut her hair too short. Yes, realistically, he was stabbed and had to cut her hair fast but it was also symbolic that Flynn saw Rapunzel for her good heart and loving nature not her magical hair (which is also furthered by parts throughout the movie of Flynn moving Rapunzel's hair out of her face when he kisses her etc contrasted to Mother Gothel kissing Rapunzel's hair, calling her flower etc). Even at the end, Rapunzel is loved by all because of her pure sweetness. If her hair were longer and more stylish, I would argue that it kind of takes away this message that being loving is enough to help people and be loved.
The people saying it's too short are people who know how important hair can be to a woman, so they simply express empathy knowing how they'd feel if someone cut their hair and it would never grow back. Regardless of the length he cut it, the magic would fade and her hair would turn brown. It wouldn't take away from the fact that what matters most is how kind and caring she is. The message wouldn't have been lost if he cut it a bit longer.
What I love about Flynn Rider aka Eugene Fitzherbert, is in the end, it wasn't Rapunzel who changed Flynn. Flynn became Eugene, became a better person, because HE wanted to be that better person FOR Rapunzel. And that's really how it should always work. And it's WHY they have such a strong relationship-which is seen in Tangled the Series. They have their problems, sure. But he listens to her fears, her doubts, and tries to alleviate them. He comforts her, he allows himself to be comforted. They help and support each other. Out of all the Disney couples in their lineup, honestly Eugene and Rapunzel are the realest of the bunch, and should be what people aspire for when it comes to "couple goals".

It even confirmed she hardly spent any time with her either aside whenever she needed her hair. Legit Gothel is probably my 3rd favorite Disney villain because of how manipulative yet chilling and truly terrifying she is. Legit nearly EVERY Disney couple before, their love came from their beauty before it was about their personality or how they were similar In struggles. Legit the only 2 I could think of that don’t have this problem is Pocahontas and John Smith because while they were definitely attracted by their looks, it was ultimately because of how different they were physically, heck Pocahontas even ran away the first time he tried to get closer because she was frightened he was going to kill her. Other one is Tarzan and Jane. He didn’t even know other humans existed, and was immediately drawn to how Jane looked exactly like him, and he finally wasn’t the black sheep gorilla cub anymore. And he simply showed her so much of his world she chose to give up her fancy life in London just to be wild and free with him. But Rapunzel and Flynn have such a sweet yet hilarious relationship, and it felt real and genuine to the point I was so mad they didn’t kiss on the boat. Legit that’s the only problem with I See the Light.
No, Mother Gothel was pure evil. She kidnapped a child because that child had magic hair. Any compliments she gives Rapunzel are actually to her hair. She calls her "Flower." When she caresses Rapunzel, she runs her hands through her hair. She doesn't care at all about Rapunzel. Only her hair.
I truly believe that the only reason dylan was so concerned about flynn's injuries was because he identified with him, each blow was like a hit to his own head 🤣
Right?? How could he play kingdom hearts without knowing what her name is? I haven't played KH3 yet but I mean... it's the name of the main character??
In addition to being pigeon-footed, Rapunzel also has crossed eyes, an overbite and a lisp. It's all done so subtly that most people don't consciously notice, but subconsciously, she feels more like a real person than if she were model perfect.
literally when I watched this movie with my family my mom was mad because they made mother Gothel so evil and how dare they yada yada. when she goes "great now im the bad guy" My mom was so mad, she was like "Look! this is what you do to me!" im like mum she's literally the villain sit your ass down
I'm sure those little girls thought they were in heaven because Rapunzel let them braid her hair. Little girls love playing with long hair/"grown ups" hair
She's a manipulative narcissist, and doesn't even think of Rapunzel as a person is more like a object, it's her flower she is her flower. So she didn't even bother to change her name and birthday because she never thought of her as a person in fact she was probably begged by the daughter to know her name after the woman kept calling her a bunch of different pet names... she calls her -dear- pet -flower, probably kid and child. So as a kid Rapunzel probably asked which one it was.
Totally agree. As time has passed I've cared less and less about Frozen actually. But Tangled is something I just find myself liking more and more with each passing day. Tangled is still on my top 10 Disney List. It's actually quite high up. Frozen went off the spectrum entirely.
I feel like if you watch Tangled as a kid you don’t really understand how deep it is, which is why people tend to appreciate it more as an adult. I always loved it tho, the songs are amazing😂 but now I like it even more as an adult.
i adore this movie because it’s SUCH a good representation of a toxic parental relationship and god it’s so nice to see. also yk, it’s just generally really good and funny
@@parksophie8854 they probably would’ve found her a suitor to take over more tbh. But who knows, Queens have had sole rule in the past. It is endearing to see they weren’t desperate for a male ruler though, especially since she’s proven she can be capable of many things.
Tangled is easily one of my favorite Disney movies. Flynn Lowkey being the most handsome guy in all of Disney movies, the music was absolute chefs kiss, and don't even get me started on Rapunzel after she cut her hair, I legit turned gay for a second after seeing her with short brown hair.
“her hair doesn’t heal, it reverses time...” that actually explains SO much. as a kid i always wondered how the *healing* magic made mother gothel young again.
There’s one thing missing from recent Disney movies that tangled and Aladdin just nailed… and that’s bromance: Aladdin and Abu and Flynn and Maximus. Newer movies just try and make either romantic male relationships, or toxic ones, and it just doesn’t work😂😂
dylan every time he sees a kid in a movie: shut up. kill it. get rid of these little monsters. dylan the second he hears mini rapunzel: CAN I ADOPT THIS CHILD
No, it's cuz he was faking a persona of a character in a book he really liked as a kid. The characters name was "Flinn Rider" so when he ran away from the orphanage he used it as his name. In the book "Flinn" is a notorious thief that is good with women too. Eugene becomes this character. After meeting repunzel he no longer felt the need to fake a persona and went back to his real identity as Eugene.
@@Didi-qc3vc The post you replied to is definitely a joke to not take seriously with, but I like your point here too, it makes good sense, thanks for sharing
Nah he's super nice all along but he seems douchey in the beginning only cause of the character he was portraying. Even after Rapunzel found about the real him, he keeps his humor and everything. He just switches into his real character.

Hey Dylan! If you liked Tangled, I would highly recommend watching the movie Anastasia (1997)! I swear, Dimitri and Anya from the movie are just like Flynn Rider and Rapunzel, except with more adventure and a lot more scheming! The songs are great as well, especially the villain’s song in the movie! Just thought I would recommend it! Love your videos!
You really have to appreciate that Flynn actually spent time with her, they learned stuff about each other, they started as "think ur pretty/handsome, but that's all" and after they got to know each other more, saved each other, experienced crazy dangerous shit and celebrated the shit out of a festival - They realize that they fall for each other. You gotta admit that the characters of Flynn and Rapunzel actually have much more depth and storyline than most of the other disney pairs. I think that these two are the most believable and likable of all the disney princess couples. They just stumbled upon each other. And learned over time to appreciate each others company. Get what I mean? It did not start with one of them only looking for true love, yearning for it or seeing someone the first time and suddenly being all over in love, risking everything for a stranger cause they are hot, royal or singing a song about deep feelings. Both of them followed their own path which did not base around a romantic relationship or had the goal of marriage and happily ever after only being possible x2. Their paths just went into the same direction long enough to actually develop feelings for one another. I really realized that know. And love that movie even more. :)
tangled is one of my favorite movies ever so i am sooo happy that dylan actually loved this one. he got so invested in it and couldn't really find too much to make fun of which i loved.
Notice the difference between Gothel's "love" for Rapunzel and Eugene's genuine love for her? Whenever Gothel is talking to Rapunzel, especially when she talks about how much she loves her, she's always stroking and/or kissing Rapunzel's hair, which is meant to show that she's saying "I love you (most)" to Rapunzel's hair instead of to Rapunzel herself. On the other hand, once Eugene realises he's fallen in love with Rapunzel, he's always brushing her hair away from her face, signifying the hair and its magic don't mean nearly as much to him as she herself does.
@@mariaprieto4517 true but mothers do sometimes call their grown children a flower because they bloomed into someone beautiful. But mother does mean it LITERALLY LOL. Whats even more messed up is if you watch the series she leave her daughter to go kidnap rapunzel.
The most amazing thing about this movie is the play of light. In the happy scenes, the light is pleasant and warm, and the further you go and the action becomes sadder or more serious, the light fades slowly.
19:36 *Mother almost dies from sickness while pregnant, and ONLY survived because of a flower from a drop of freaking sunlight.* Dylan: "Why didn't they have another kid??"
When I was younger I would literally complain to my parents about how I hated how they cut her hair so short but now I actually think it's really cute. Plus he had no energy and was dying so it's realistic that he cut it that short
same! it sounds so much cooler too. not that healing isn’t cool but like, reversing time so that you can heal? like imagine what other cool stuff could she do with that and the fact that dylan watched this for the first time and got it right away and i watched it so many times
i love how she is locked up in a tower her whole life and makes friends w legit every single person and animal she meets and i’ve been in the public school system for about 12 years now and i can’t even talk to the lunch lady tf
26:35 Put yourself in their shoes. You'd be so happy in that moment that you would hug EVERYONE close to you. I mean, a police officer brings a missed kid back to their parents, pretty sure there have been many hugs.
have watched this video a dozen times now and neither does the movie losses its charm nor does dylan. Love his reactions and how such hopeless romantic he is from heart.
It also kinda adds to Dylan’s time reversal theory. Once time is reversed, as long as the person doesn’t put themselves in that situation again, the injury won’t reoccur. That’s why it appears to heal Flynn’s hand. It runs time back to before it got cut and he didn’t get it cut again. As long as the queen doesn’t get pregnant again, she will likely not re-encounter the sickness she had.
Thank you for making videos every Monday, these videos make me feel excited about Mondays and are so funny I just rewatch them. You've literally helped me so much in the past few years so thank you Dylan :)
and the romantic tropes make sense with the plot too so it’s not super cliche. like in a lot of movies and books the main character meets someone and they’re immediately the love interest. with this one yeah he’s the first one she meets, but he’s also the first person she meets other than her mother so it’s reasonable that she would grow attached to him. and they start out more as friends and then the attraction grows i think which is nice

Yeah, it also shows the flower was pretty much the thing that kept both of them alive. Y'know, the magic flower that there's only one of? They likely didn't want to risk it again since, if it went south, there weren't any more flowers to rely on.
@@eaglefan2569 Agreed, but another thing is that if her mother dies at child birth, then her father would just be in shambles. If her mother was gone, her father would just be losing it most likely or just be a wreck.

*FUN FACT* Mother Gothel's dress is inspired from the fashion of the Renaissance, 400 years older than the rest of the sets and costume in the film, which were instead inspired by the 1780s. This is meant to emphasize Gothel's immense age; so, when Rapunzel's hair is cut off and Gothel falls from the tower she experiences the centuries of aging she'd avoided within a few seconds turned into nothing but dust before touching the ground. Gothel did not fall to her death but died of old age, the first Disney villain to do so.. The iguana thingy is innocent your honor!
He was thinking Rapunzel has cleaned and cleaned and cleaned that tower top to bottom her whole life, he didn't want Gothel's ashes to get everywhere is all.

In addition to being pigeon-footed, Rapunzel also has crossed eyes, an overbite and a lisp. It's all done so subtly that most people don't consciously notice, but subconsciously, she feels more like a real person than if she were model perfect.
What's pigeon toed? And which scene is it obvious that she's cross eyed

Don't call out my mom like that, bruh.

Thankfully my mom never treated me this way, but I had cousins who did.
Narcissistic parents dude...
literally when I watched this movie with my family my mom was mad because they made mother Gothel so evil and how dare they yada yada. when she goes "great now im the bad guy" My mom was so mad, she was like "Look! this is what you do to me!" im like mum she's literally the villain sit your ass down

I've watched this movie a few times and never saw it as child labor until now lol

I'm sure those little girls thought they were in heaven because Rapunzel let them braid her hair. Little girls love playing with long hair/"grown ups" hair
I love how enamoured Dylan was with this film from the very start. He was so hooked on the story of the prologue and the delight never stopped.

Literally me I used to love frozen but as I got older I realized that tangled is WAY better.
i adore this movie because it’s SUCH a good representation of a toxic parental relationship and god it’s so nice to see. also yk, it’s just generally really good and funny
They didn't have another child because the queen almost died giving birth to the first one.
Also they at least hoped their daughter was still alive, so they didn’t want to replace her.
I love how they don’t care that their kid is a daughter and not a boy...love how they trust her to reign a kingdom 😌

Cause when you get older, your body deteriorates. So the healing powers would “reverse time” by healing all that has deteriorated over the years.

I think the reason why flynn had so much character develepment was cause he got hit by the pan so many times that he lost his old personality

Lol Anastasia and Tangled are my fav animated movies

oh god yesssss also once upon a december is one of the best disney songs

Heal what has been hurt

Beeba K Smith VERY GOOD POINT

"I see the light" is THE best romantic scene in Disney
The way that Eugene looks at Rapunzel when she isn't looking!
I think the reason they didn’t have another kid was the fear of the queen dying like she almost did with Rapunzel.
yeah and maybe also the trauma of having their child kidnapped, just saying
That’s actually a pretty logical theory and makes a lot of sense now that I think about it
* slow clap *
Issues with Rapunzels birth/pregnancy might have also made it so she couldnt conceive or carry a child.

*FUN FACT*
Mother Gothel's dress is inspired from the fashion of the Renaissance, 400 years older than the rest of the sets and costume in the film, which were instead inspired by the 1780s.
