The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse

  • The final book of the Christian Bible details four macabre beings riding upon variously colored horses that are said to bring about the end of the world. They are known as the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, summoned upon the breaking of the first four seals. As they ride off into the world, they spread anarchy and chaos everywhere they go. Conquest, famine, bloodshed, and copious amounts of death and suffering are left in their wake as they gallop across the land. Of all of the figures spoken of in the Bible, these horsemen are no doubt among the most cryptic and chilling!

I guess I've read (and re-read and re-read some more!) too much Discworld by Terry Pratchett. I always instantly think of his Death of the Discworld when anyone mentions a personification of Death. That's the one I want to come for me when my time is up!

We know from the story of Moses that there is an Angel of Death so if Death is one of the horsemen then all four of them might actually be in service to god himself who is the one passing judgment.
One theory left out of this video is that the first horseman is actually Jesus Christ himself and the poisoned arrows represent the gospel which would smite away sin. Angel engage in War as seen in the Bible. And the story of Moses also called forth pestilence and famine over Egypt thus the Four Horseman aren’t doing anything that God himself wouldn’t allow. The final judgment comes from God himself so I strongly believe that the four horsemen are not evil nor demonic.

The 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse were the 4 seadonal priesrs. The priests would teach in the Vestry House in Qumran. Each priest carried a colored banner signifying which season he taught in. The banner would be placed on the chair (horse) he taught from in the vestry house. The priest for Summer carried a white banner (associated with noon and south). He taught June, July and August. This was Theophilus Annas. 'LION'. He taught Mark's Gospel. The priest for Autumn carried a red banner (associated with sunset and west). He taught September, October and November. This was Ananus the Younger, the Samaritan, the Sariel. 'CALF' He taught Luke's Gospel. The priest for Winter carried a black banner (associated with midnight and north). He taught December, January and February. This was Ananias the Samaritan, the Raphael. 'MAN'. He taught Matthew's Gospel. The priest for Spring carried a green banner (associated with sunrise and east). He taught March. April and May. This was Atomus the Cypriot, the Gabriel, (Death). 'FLYING EAGLE'. 'Hades' was Herod Antipas. Atomus taught John's Gospel. Here is the meaning of Rev.6:6---At 4pm, the time when Gentile fees were given, I heard James Niceta, head of fee paying Gentiles, on the Chancel step before Apollos, say, "Initiated Gentiles are to pay a denarius entrance fee. They are to pay over 3 years, a third of a denarius each year, from Grade 9 'barley' to Grade 7 'wheat' There are also Gentile celibates. Do not exclude Gentile celibates who drink fermented wine". Revelation is not about some terrifying, supernatural future. Itis about the events of the 1st century AD; from 1 AD to 114 AD. It is about what went on in the Vestry House in Qumran & in the Cathedral of Ephesus, about Bernice, the crowning of Agrippa II, the destruction of Jerusalem & the Herodian establishment. Revelation was written in 4 parts by 4 people. Part A was written first and placed 2d. (Rev 8:6 to 14:15). It was written by James Niceta (Annas). The time period is from 1AD to 50AD. Part B was written 2d and placed 1st. (Rev. 1:1to 8:5). It was written by John Aquila (Annas). The time period was from 44AD to 54AD. These 2 parts are about the history of the Herodian mission to Gentiles. Part C was written by Tychicus. (Rev 14:6 to 19:21). The time period was 54AD to 74AD. It was the history of the mission in Ephesus & Jerusalem. Part D was written by another seer named John. (Rev. 20:1 to 22:21). The time period was 100AD to 114AD.

What I'm about to express should not be taken as disrespecting the Bible or any persons who derive their faith from biblical text. On the contrary, this expression could be taken as a constructive criticism of what is perhaps a blasphemous inclusion to the Bible. Allow this explanation: the Book of Revelations was written (as noted) by John of Patmos, a man who was living in exile due to Christian persecution during the rule of the Roman Empire. The book was written by a man who was likely extremely angry at the ruling powers of the time, and so conceived this idea of divine retribution for those who persecuted the Christian peoples. It can be comparative to the modern manifesto written by the "exiled" Ted Kaczynski, aka "The Unabomber." Kaczynski's own manifesto described a collapse of society, or "end of the world (as we know it)." Is modern society likely to view Kaczynski's manifesto as biblical prophecy? No. Modern society, in general, viewed the manifesto as the rantings of a "mad man," who had his own personal agenda in heart and mind when he wrote his manifesto. As Kaczynski's manifesto is understood to be, so too should the Book of Revelations; a manifesto written by an angry man living isolated from society.
Bottom line is that the Book of Revelations has questionable integrity and therefore cripples the integrity of the Bible by its inclusion. An inclusion that was decided by Christian authorities (at the time) who's own agenda was, from a historical point of view, often self-serving to the higher authorities and reasonably questionable.
Thank you for your patients. If you do wish to offer any counter to this opinion, I do ask that the counter be made with respect and intelligence. Thank you again.
