- I'll Take Manhattan is a 1987 American television miniseries, adapted from Judith Krantz's 1986 novel of the same name. Screened by CBS, it tells the story of the wealthy Amberville family, who run their own publishing company in New York. After Zachary Amberville, the patriarch of the family, dies, the company is taken over by his unscrupulous brother Cutter. Zachary's children, especially his energetic and intelligent daughter Maxi, begin a battle to regain control of their father's company.

Love these Classic Mini Series with loaded casts🤩However 90% of costuming was stuck in the 80s when it was supposed be the 60s and 70s era especially Maxi’s wardrobe😂
Fun to relive the 70’s

This miniseries is so awesome and I mean that.
I read her book ; this was not a happy time period for Valerie ...she was working all the time, Eddie was touring all the time , rumors were getting around, the press was always bothering them .
You can see the stress in her eyes , tho she is effective as Maxi, it still shows.
It's a nice mini -series , obviously they had a pretty large budget . In the 80s , people loved this stuff (Dallàs,, Dynasty, , Knots Landing )

This scene reminds me of Dynasty where Dr. Nick Toscanni blamed Blake for the death of his Brother Johnny in a Third World Prison because he was a drug addict. He killed himself in his Cell. Yet Blake reminded him that it wasn't "his" fault that his Brother was an Addict.

Zachary should have said "You and Cutter are more alike than you realize, you use folks for your own selfish gain, were it not for me, you'd probably end up as a third rate dancer in some two bit Ballet Company. Cutter scammed, schemed and lied, to get what he wanted and he didn't think twice about living off of the fruits of my labors. He doesn't even treat that Jumbo Booker Friend of his properly.
These actions are very common in my social circle, especially regarding siblings.
You see more of the wife/husband falling into bed with the 'best friend' more than anything else.
However, brothers (boys) will be BOYS, know matter how old they are.

Amber was pretty bright, but by Jove was she spoilt. How would she expect a proud Italian-American man to live on her father's money?
Compromise
I think they both should’ve compromised. It was unrealistic from her to expect , that Rocco will live of her dad’s money, but it was also unrealistic from Rocco to expect, that his young wife, who grown up in enormous luxury, will not struggle in small, overheated apartment. Perhaps he could’ve accepted some money for a nice flat or some help for Maxi, nanny or cleaner.
@Turefu2 Better yet, she simply could have paid for new air conditioning in their apartment.

What's up with the white streak in her hair? Was that supposed to make her look older??? It's seems so out place for her character.
I think it means ´punky´. Like the ´Punks´ had? She is supposed to be ´rebellious´. But then still the hair in a ´rich´, ´neat´ way.
Apparently, it was a family feature. Her father Zachary had it too. It's in the book.
