I loved this game when I played it as a kid on the dreamcast. I remember waking up before my brothers and running down stairs to be the first one to get on the system. I remember thinking the ship battles were so cool, being excited getting the new limit breaks, the story and how great the music was when I was younger. Their are a few games that I have this level of nostalgia for. I would love a remaster, remake and follow it up with a sequel. Theirs so much they could do with this world on a modern console.

I still need to play this game, but it was cool seeing both you and Scott talking about the game. It's a testament that an older game can still captivate people despite the graphics.
That's the thing, even the graphics were good on this one. There's nothing I didn't love about it. My biggest problem was my ability to follow a map but that's on me 😂

We've only played through it on the Dreamcast as well, but would love to be able to get our hands on the GameCube version at some point as it adds a little bit more. It's a game that needs to be played more than once, absolutely!
Writing this before watching. I played Skies of Arcadia on the Dreamcast in early 2001, a few months after it was released. I thought it was a really good game. I do remember it having some flaws / things I found annoying though. I also remember thinking that I would give it a 9 out of 10 at the time (I am and was a huge JRPG fan). But to me it isn't even the best RPG of the 6th generation of gaming consoles. Still a very good game!... Okay, now I'll watch. Thanks for making this!

And it has a very special play send my heart and I will always pick the Dreamcast version over the GameCube version all day everyday only because that's where I first played it on

I think desk discussions are good for most vidoes but for a review it really didn't vibe with me. I suppose the common direct voice over direct reviews are more my thing rather than shooting the shit while reviewing a game it tends to drag the topic too long too. The reviews you did before were top notch though.
I never mind constructive criticism and I really appreciate your honesty. I like to do a more structured review like the ones you've mentioned before, but sometimes Scott and I like to mix it up and do the table discussions simply because it's harder to do a structured review for us two person and it's something we like to look back on and enjoy listening to and reliving the story again. Realize it went a bit long and we'll try to keep that in mind for the next one :)

I’m really hoping that Skies of Arcadia is part of that “and more in development” from SEGA’s recent announcement of remakes/revamps. A remake/rerelease would be so cool!
Oh my God, when you do have a chance to play you're definitely going to have to tell me what you think. The GameCube version is supposed to be really good and my fingers will be crossed to the point of cramping hoping that this is part of their enhancement for remakes. It would be amazing!

What a fantastic review for a phenomenal game! It's been so long since I've beaten that game (it was a Day 1 purchase for me on the Dreamcast back in the day) that I've forgotten a ton of it and now I'm going to replay it! My friend found a discs only copy on the DC at a pawnshop in Texas and knew I've been on the lookout to get it again for a while so he'll be sending it to me in a future box! And I will bring out the DC from the closet, plug it in and play it again! When Sega sent a survey about which games we would want to get a port or a remake, Skies of Arcadia was mentioned so maybe one day we'll get our wish come true! 2 games that gave me a similar vibe about the story, character interactions and awesome music that you absolutely should try (I think you already have both of them) are Sea of Stars and Unicorn Overlord. Trust me, they will hook you in! Thank you for the memories! Great video and keep up the good work!

There wasn't a lot of RPG choices on the Gamecube, so in 11th grade I saw this behind the glass and picked it up. The game changed my life. Just can't believe in 20+ yrs there hasn't been a sequel. I feel like it's the type of game that not a lot of people have played, but anyone who did has nothing but great things to say about it. It's better than Final Fantasy. I believe members of the same team made Panzer Dragoon Saga, another awesome game, where you can see some small similarities. Also if you didn't know, there is a GC hack of Legends that lets you hold B to avoid random encounters, makes the game a little harder, among a few other changes. Just started playing through it again.
I literally said the exact same thing to Scott about this game versus Final Fantasy 7. I just think it's way better in my opinion. That being said, I obviously played this one well after release and Final Fantasy 7, I only played a year and a half ago. Had no idea about the hack for the GameCube version, but that would make those random encounters so much more tolerable if you could skip some. My biggest concern would be I'd skip a whole bunch of them and be really underpowered by the time I got to the end LOL.

I don't know if you have a GameCube, although the GameCube version is a bit more expensive. It is actually apparently the definitive way to play it because it has more content. The cups were made by Denis's girlfriend ❤️ It was a surprise gift from her and we are so thankful for her kindness and generosity.
@RetroRivals ,unfortunately I don't have a GameCube, after the N64 I stopped buying Nintendo systems, but I do want to buy a switch, or possibly the new switch 2 when it comes out, but after i see reviews
This is one of those games i always wanted to try out but it was on the pricier side and i already sold my Dreamcast and most of my Gamecube and i'm not collecting for those anymore so unless they hopefully remaster or even remake this to Switch or something, i'm just going to have to live with the fact that i ain't gonna play this ever.
