- It's not easy to make a 10/10 video about all the single player games you love but try doing that very thing but with your bestie and you HAVE TO AGREE. We're Retro Rivals and that's what we had to do in this one!
A few rules:
-We gave each other ONE veto! Basically one game and ONLY ONE game the other hasn't played that you think should be on the 10 out of 10 list.
-7 we HAD to agree on

-The other one YOU PICK!
This wasn't easy because we don't play many games twice. With over 1500 games we've been dividing and conquering the backlog.
There will definitely be some no brainers on this list BUT I think we have a few surprises up our sleeves too!

Luigi's mansion 3 is a masterpiece. I've played them all and they are all great.
I don't hear enough people talk about A Way Out and it is legit an unexpectedly great game.

Well we both done a top 10 so we thought this would be an interesting way to redo it with us both having to agree. It's definitely not easy. It would have been super interesting if we would have had Denis as a third because some of the games on our list he hasn't played. Also, I don't think he's as fond of Castlevania symphony of the night as we are.
I love the movie “the wizard”, especially when they have the kid with the power glove. Super Mario 3 is definitely amazing.
I haven't seen the wizard in such a long time. I can't remember much of it. Scott and I should really watch it again. Super Mario 3 is probably my favorite Mario game, with 2 being a close second

Oh I think as soon as my mouth opens people can pretty much guess I'm from Canada's East Coast 😂 You're right, I enjoy hearing every different accent. Just like games, it would be boring if we were all the same.
Grandia has special meaning for us but that aside, I think anyone would find it a gem :)
FF9 and Legend of Dragoon are my favorite RPGs of all time. I've never played skys before but I need too.
OMG Skies is amazing. I highly suggest it.
I have ONLY played FF7, I eventually want to play another. I'd like to say I'll play all of them but there's like 827 games in the series 😂

Highly agree about FF9. It is my favorite final fantasy for sure, and probably my favorite PS1 RPG.

I'm eventually going to play elden ring because honestly that'll probably be my best introduction to the Souls Games without being completely overwhelmed. Bully is pretty high on my list to play too. I've heard many great things about it.

Love your list! So many of them I haven't played yet but all things considering, I just started playing games again about 4 years ago, there's lots on here that are a must for me. Especially Witcher 3, The rest of the Bioshock series, Dead Space 2 for sure and we start a ghost of tsushima before some reason we put it down.... Got to get around to that before the second one comes out.
I know Chrono cross is pretty high on Scott's list as well.
Some of my 10/10’s in no particular order:
1. MGS3 (psyched for the remake)
2. Super Mario (IMO the best 2D platformer ever made)
3. Baldur’s Gate 3 (The most recent on the list and my 2023 game of the year)
4. Tekken 3
5. Journey-PS3 (so artistically perfect)
6. Street of Rage 4 (the best SoR game and that’s a hill I’m willing to die on)
7. Hades (my game of the year 2021)
8. WipEout XL
9. Guardian Heroes (Treasure doing what Treasure does)
10. Panzer Dragoon Orta (the definitive on-rails shooter and one of my top 10 games ever)
Really love all your pics. Streets of Rage 4 was an amazing reboot to the franchise. We loved it so much I made a huge painting of it for our game room

TLOU on the PS3 is an absolute tour de force ❤ Oh my dude, Grandia 2 is God Tier, as is Suikoden 2. Two sequels that outshine the two 10/10 first games in the series.

Great list! My choice for your 10th game would be Red Dead Redemption. Great story, good controls… I feel you’ll be hooked. I’m currently playing through Red Dead Redemption 2 and it’s fantastic as well, but I haven’t completed it yet. Red dead redemption 10/10
You know what? Sadly, I still haven't played Red Dead redemption... eirher of them for that matter. I know I'll love them. I really really need to play it this year
I’m working my way through the 2nd one right now. So far it’s been good, really enjoying the story and gameplay. Of course the game looks beautiful also.

That's an amazing list honestly. I could see a reason for all of these. While I didn't LOVE Shadow of the Colossus I know it would have been best experience back when it released.

@@RetroRivals Yeah I played Shadow of the Colossus when it first came out on PS2, and it was such a unique, unforgetful experience. The graphics also looked amazing at the time. I had such an amazing experience with it that I refuse to play the remake out of worry I won't like it anymore and poison my good memories of it lol.
Oh, I will DEFINITELY be getting SH2. I should play a few Bloober games to get me better prepared.
This f’n rules! I agree with y’all on quite a few of these. TLOU 1, Symphony of the Night & RE4 are all damn near perfect imo. Btw dude, look up “Sky Oceans: Wings for Hire”… might be the only modern game out there that’s attempting to capture some of that Skies of Arcadia magic. Loved this damn video, and love that yall are still fighting the good fight, for the CZcams creator who actually plays games…. because they have a , you know… video game channel…. It blows my mind how many people create content about games, but never play or discuss anything about the actual games lol.
Well s*** I'm going to have to look up Sky Oceans: Wings for Hire for sure. I loved that game so damn much that I would totally jump back into a similar world.
If I wasn't worried about the backlash from the non-gaming gaming community. I would probably go a little bit harder at that topic but yeah LOL. I'm never going to talk about a game like I played it if I haven't. But then again we don't have this channel for Fame and Fortune, we're doing it for the Love of the Game and I think that's probably the missing piece for some of those channels.
It's hard to argue with any of those (except the RPGs 😂), what a great list. RE 4 is easily my favorite in the series, but RE 7 is a close second.
My pick for a 10/10 game has to be Streets of Rage 2. It I'd absolutely perfect in every way and I k ow both of you love it. I almost went with Adventure Island just for Jenn :)

Streets of Rage 2 was on our 10 out of 10 co-op game video although it could totally make it on this one too.

I really want to play ChronoTrigger this year. Scott has and it's one of his favs. I'm toying with the idea of playing it on the DS.

@RetroRivals , I beat Ninja Gaiden in 1989 when I first played it, I was 18 at the time, I haven't played it much since then, I've played it awhile ago, but couldn't beat it, if I play it non stop for a month or so, I'm sure I can beat it again
Quiet a few games I think were 10/10's were on your list! I still remember spending my summer playing Skies of Arcadia on my dreamcast. I would wake up and run down stairs and hop on the dreamcast before my brothers woke up so I could play. Some other 10/10's off the top of my head in no particular order

7. Hogwarts Legacy the combat sucks but that world and the exploring just made this a 10/10 to me

Loved this video idea from you two! Sounds like this should be a community challenge. I have only played four of your picks so I have some catching up to do. 😂 Those four games though are absolutely 10/10. A couple for me would have to be Legend Of Zelda Ocarina of Time, Bioshock, Spider-Man(PS4) & maybe even Metroid Prime. I only played the last two games over the last year and really loved everything about them. I would almost even say Fallout 3 because it hit me as absolutely amazing way back when I first played it but it is quite a buggy game (at least it was back on the ol’ PS3) and that takes away from being a perfect game. Awesome video! 🍻
Denis actually asked me why Spiderman wasn't on our list and at the time we recorded it, I hadn't yet played it. Now I can't stop thinking about it. We might need to do another 10 out of 10, spoiler....it would be on the next one FOR SURE!

Sleeping dogs is a hell of a game. I played about half of it and I need to play the rest. I don't typically only play half a game so that's sitting on my backlog nagging me!
So cool to see death's door on your list as well. That was another one. I sank a few hours into and was really enjoying it but I think we were playing a little bit of everything spooky or horror related for the Halloween season. It's a fun one for sure! Have you played Ghost Trick. They are not really the same but at the same time give me the same feel if that makes sense.

@@RetroRivals Another great game I´m playing is Sky Force Anniversary. The grinding pays off, the music is great, the power up system is tight; and is very exiting when by "chance" you can collect one of a collection of cards with special upgrades. The only game I can say is fun to grind.

Other 10/10 - Secret of Monkey Island, Tex Murphy FMV series (Specifically - Pandora Directive), Loom, Super Metroid, Sup Castlevania, Arkanoid, X-Files FMV, and NES Tengen Tetris

This was another fun one! I'm not going to name any of your picks so to not spoil it for the other viewers but 1: The Last of Us. I rage quit that game and I've tried to play it 3 separate times and I can't do it! Everyone and their moms told me how good it was and how I absolutely had to play it but I just can't! It's rage inducing for me lol! I can't wait for your review of your last one at the end! Such a fantastic game! The Wizard was such an iconic movie and what I would consider a classic for us old people lol! Yep I'm one of the commenter who keeps talking about Suikoden 2! You should play them all in my opinion but if you have only time to dedicate to one in the series, Suikoden 2 is the one! It's hard for me to do a top ten as it fluctuates on however I feel that day but my top 3 is always the same: 1- Suikoden 2 on PS1, 2- Dragon Force on Saturn, 3- Parasite Eve on PS1! And a modern game that would probably be at number 9 is Witcher 3 and here's a new game that released this year that I would put at number 10: Unicorn Overlord! This is still my game of the year so far and it will be hard to dethrone! Great video and keep up the good work!
Same. I liked to a point, got pissed, stopped playing, and have tried 4 times to play it. I understand the draw....just not for me.
You know what, TLOU while an amazing game is not going to be for everyone. I totally get it. That's how I feel about BOTW.
The review of the last game is coming soon. We have to refilm it because my damn mic cut out half way in and I only noticed it once I started editing it. Planning to do it again this weekend.

Yes Super Mario 3! Oh my god The Wizard... I saw it in the theater. It's so bad! haha The Last Of Us and RE4 absolutely 10 out of 10! I've started Grandia this year and You've both got me wanting to skip all of the games on my "to play" list and start Skies Of Arcadia. I started it on Gamecube back in 2003-4 and after a few hours my memory card corrupted and I've never gone back to it since. ok a new batch of top 10s from me:
Okami - best Zelda game that's not a Zelda game
Skyrim- Cmon it's Skyrim! Exploring is so fun.
Puzzle Quest- I've been playing since it's release. Finally beat it last year
Fallout 3- played and loved when it released, interest renewed from the fantastic show
Mushihimesama- I love shmups and this one is soooo good.
Returnal- Housemarque just make great games
Journey- incredible style and fun gameplay. short and sweet.
Gris- so artsy and moody with a beautiful watercolor art style
RE2 Remake- Capcom is on fire with these remakes!
Elden Ring - Jen, Scott you guys gotta try it. I think at least one of you will love it! haha
I cannot tell you how much I love Skies of Arcadia more than to say, as soon as you get the chance...DO IT!
Skyrim was a blast. Believe it or not it was my very first dual analog game. I picked up EVERYTHING. I had no idea how those games worked at the time 🤣🤣🤣
Returnal has been on my radar. I think I would love it.

You are so lucky you picked it up randomly. I can't remember what I had equipped but everything was the best weapons and armor I had at the time and that sword makes that final battle child's play.

I know you said in no particular order, but seeing Chrono Trigger in number one makes me think that's probably pretty close to the top. If not your number one. Chrono Trigger probably would have been in this list had we both played it but I haven't played it yet. We both played Halo and had a lot of fun with it and the tales series is something Scott definitely wants to dig into. He played Tales of arise and loved it.
@@RetroRivals yeah Chrono Trigger is a masterpiece you should really try it you won’t regret it. Tales of Arise is a great game still need to finish it though. Tales of symphonia remastered is very playable on ps4/5 after the update. But if you need 60 fps gameplay you need to play the GameCube version(all other versions are locked at 30) The GC version has less content though.

For my picks I have tried to pick ones that haven't already been said in the comments as well
1: Mass Effect (2007, PC) This was my first foray into Action RPG's (I'm not that young, just hadn't been exposed to many games and still kinda haven't) and I absolutely adored everything about it
2: Life is Strange (2015, PC) Just love all the characters and the emotions this game invokes in me!
3: Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (2004, GameCube): My first turn based RPG on a console and again it was all about the story and characters and gameplay!, Nintendo really made something special with this one and I am super excited about the remake coming up!
4: The Longest Journey (1999, PC) I played this game for the first time only a few years ago, and while the graphics are definitely dated, I looked past that because the writing is stellar!! the story, characters and setting really drew me in and I have got to play the sequels at some point haha. The gameplay is point and click adventure, with lots of puzzles but thankfully when I got stuck it was easy enough to find a guide
5: A Hat in Time (2017, PC) I'm not really one for platformers but this game was too irresistible with how adorable and snarky the writing, characters and story are, plus the gameplay is super fun and can get really hard at times! I would put this game down in a list of best boss fights for sure!
Thanks so much for the amazingly thoughtful comment and I love that you added some new ones not already mentioned with a quick overview. Of the 5, Life is Strange is one I really want to dig into. I've always been intrigued by it and I've heard great things.

2 games I say are top 10 for me Chrono Trigger and Lunar Silver Star Story
Oh hell yeah! Scott loved Chrono trigger and it probably would have been on the list but I still haven't played it.... I know, SHAME! Then again the same can be said of Lunar Silver Star story. I really want to play it now since I spent many hours with the characters painting them.
Agree on a few here, LttP, SOTN, S. Metroid. Laci agrees on TLoU as she has me play every re-release as we generally never replay games, no matter how much we love them.
Pretty sure most know my untouched Grandia tale.
Still never played any version of RE4. We want to start the series from.the beginning but I just can't get into them...
See the problem with starting the Resident Evil series is that first one is ROUGH. I still haven't played it all the way through because those damn controls make it impossible. RE2 however OMG, so good. I've played all the mainline titles except for the first one and nemesis. Still need to finish Village.

There's an easier way to get your save data back on your PS1. Just press and hold all four of the shoulder buttons at the same time.

Excellent list! Although you can play SMB 3 as a coop game just one person at a time. I really need to pick up RE4 remake. Skies of arcadia just made an appearance into the game room. I love these style of videos. We are trying to do something similar playing through the collections.

I've heard it's great! We've tried Tiny Tina's but didn't love it but that won't stop me from giving the borderland series a go.

@@RetroRivals Witcher 3 was so good I changed my career because of it 😂 I started playing Skies of Arcadia on Dreamcast because I wanted that authentic sega experience but the encounter rate was so frustratingly high I pretty much immediately switched to the Gamecube. I think it would be a great game to play through again just on it's own, so if he does decide to go again, for sure play Legends. I'm not sure which parts of my playthrough were part of the extra Legends content but I can't imagine any piece of what I played missing. Hope that helps! 😁
Bioshock for me is 10/10
Bioshock probably would have made this list as well had Scott played it. It definitely holds a special place in my heart because I got to make a painting for a friend as a wedding present from his wife. It was only after that that I played the game. I loved it so much.
I started playing the last of us and loved it up until it started making me sneak around without being spotted by other enemies. I can't stand games where you have to sneak around.
I'm surprised Scott loves it as much because he hates sneaking around too. He gave up on Days Gone for the same reason. I totally understand that

I know we have killer 7 on ps2. It's not really been on my radar to play but maybe I need to put it on my radar. As far as Witcher 3, it's one that I've really been trying to talk myself into playing and it's that huge time commitment that scares me.

You guys aren't alone. Denis is playing SOTN as we speak and he admittedly finds it a bit frustrating. Honestly if you can't get into SOTN just play Bloodstained. It is a more modern equally amazing game

I never played TLoU. Guess i should give the remake a go. Part 2 i totally pass on. Best games i ever played in no order... Witcher 3 for sure, MGS2 one of my favorites, Killzone 2 for the multiplayer, Mass Effect for story, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Uncharted 2 and 3 loved the online coop and i guess GTA IV and V.
I loved TLOU part 2 but I totally understand it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea.
Witcher 3 has received some amazingly high praise in the comments. I'm going to need to play it.
Loved RE2 remake, I've played through the entire uncharted series and really enjoyed them all. Surprisingly I've still yet to play GTA...any of them

There is a way to get ps1 saved games but it would be someone's else saves. It requires you to access from gamefaqs, dex drives and a ps1 memory card. Usually the save files have max of everything like money, superior armor and weapon and often at the last boss. I
MY 10/10 pwould be Street of Rage 2, Mega Man X, Suikoden 1/2, Ff7 original, Wild Arms, Contra 1/3, and Jackal.
Presently, I am off 1 week since last Thursday due to a Tbone accident and am very weak. An older gentleman ran through a red light and hit me. My chest still hurt and I can only do less labor and it really interrupt my sleeping due to having chest pain Everyday is busy like talking to lawyer, doctors/chiropractor, insurance, cops, vehicle dealers, and rental cars. So in some painful situation, I went off to play games. It's to get my mind off of the pain. Helldivers 2 and FIST are the 2 games I play. Also watching movies as well.
I was so sad when I lost that save of Castlevania symphony of the night, but it was well worth playing part of the inverted Castle again and even better that Scott played it as well. Denis is currently playing It on PS4 but I don't think he's loving it as much as we did.
