    In this video, I talk about the Atlas headrest issues that I faced, hopefully it gives you a balanced view of the quality of this expensive headrest. The Atlas headrest is specifically designed for the Herman Miller Aeron and the manufacturer of the mesh model claimed to use the same source of material for its mesh as Herman Miller Aeron.

    [UPDATE] Atlas has reached out to me to offer a free replacement of the mesh frame, with me covering the shipping fees(25USD). Took up their offer and opted for the cushion model instead. For anyone facing similar atlas headrest issue/problem, and did not manage to get a replacement previously, I highly recommend that you reach out to atlas support to get assistance. It does not guarantee a replacement but it’s worth a shot.
    Since the release of this video, Atlas has updated their warranty policy to cover the entire headrest with 3 years warranty! The 3 months mesh warranty has been completely removed! *mindblown* This is a move that I did not anticipate from them, but it’s a good start putting consumer’s interest at the top of their priority. You can find the warranty policy at atlasheadrest.com/pages/faq
    So what does it mean for you now if you are watching this and planning to get a headrest for your Aeron? Head over to any local retailers in your area to try out the various headrest available in the market. I’ve tried the Engineered Now and Altas Mesh and I would say that the ergonomics and comfort of the Atlas is far better than the Engineered Now. Will i get the Atlas Mesh again? Likely not. For 250SGD/189USD, I would want to buy something that I know is going to last me a long time. The Atlas cushion headrest seems like a viable option for now. The downside i can see for it now will be cleaning it. I’ll test it out once i receive mine and will share my thoughts in the near future, if you are interested in that, do consider subscribing! Cheer!

      I have just reached out to Atlas and in all fairness, they have offered a replacement out of goodwill and I only need to cover the shipment. They also highlighted that some chemical can have an effect when applied to the fabric. Many of these chemicals can be found in everyday use items such as detergents, lotions, perfumes, cleaning products and aerosol sprays.

      That's good! But it happens, about 1 month after I made this video, the mesh on the backrest of my Herman Miller Aeron also disintegrated... But Herman Miller sent me a replacement with no question asked, within 2 weeks. I didn't have to a single cent for any shipping charges. I guess that's why they charge 1.6k SGD for a chair. That said I'm still very disappointed with the product(atleast the remastered version). I have used an old Classic Aeron before which has a different mesh weaving system and that took a ton of beating as it was for office use, and held up dam well.

    You got scammed by Atlas. Just about everything that Atlas does involves some form of consumer fraud. You only saw good reviews online for Atlas headrest because Atlas adds their own fake 5-star reviews on their own website and Atlas deletes most reviews that are not 4 or 5 stars. Atlas also uses the Ahnestly CZcamsr to promote their headrests. Anhestly pretends to be a reviewer who frequently praises Atlas headrest, but Ahnestly is good friends with the owners of Atlas so he is doing nothing but advertising and marketing for Atlas, but you are tricked into believing that he is just an objective reviewer.

    • @CJ-xv7oi

      @@kakilai Review fraud - the posting of fake 5-star reviews and the cleansing/deletion of 1/2/3 star reviews on the Atlas website are a scam, or fraud - which means deceptive practices designed to persuade you to purchase from the company. For example, Atlas already shows 31 fake 5-star reviews for their Embody headrest, even though the Embody headrest has never been released. Amazon has been trying to clean up and delete all the fake shill reviews from their website during the past 8+ years, but there are still many fake 5-star shill reviews on Amazon. These fake 5-star reviews are posted by the sellers themselves to trick you into thinking that their product is excellent. Atlas engages in this same form of review fraud.

      @@CJ-xv7oi Naise…thanks for the information! I did some further reading on Reddit and found that the relationship between Ahnestly and Atlas is true.(not sure if the reviews can still be considered honest, pun intended)
      Below is a reply from Atlas I found on Reddit, addressing other Redditors’ questions:
      “I shed some light on our relationship with HMI over the years above. I could write a novel. It can be complicated when you're in the same town depending on the same suppliers as HMI. I'm not going any deeper.
      Yes, Dan is friends with me, Andrew, co-owner and CEO.
      I believe it's apparent that Dan forms his own opinions and constructively criticizes all the products he encounters on the regular. I can tell you that he's careful and suspicious anytime we talk about Atlas.
      I'm sorry you think he's so biased. I see him as someone who is far from being brand loyal.
      He has one of our prototype headrests for the Embody in his possession. I have no idea what he's going to say about it until the video posts. He might say he hates it. We'll receive the feedback and get back to work to make it better.”

      @@kakilai Atlas is just telling fake lies with that reply. If a good friend of yours operated a company that made headrests, would you ever recommend another brand of headrest on your CZcams channel? Of course not! And Atlas is NOT the best headrest brand for Aeron anyway, and they are definitely the worst headrest company with respect to corporate ethics, customer support, and standing behind their mediocre products. Atlas wrote in that reply: "I see him as someone who is far from being brand loyal." Dan may not be "brand loyal", but he is definitely friend-loyal, as you yourself would be too. And friend-loyal is identical to brand-loyal if he keeps recommending Atlas headrest on his various CZcams videos.
      Have you ever noticed that Dan never reviews all the other brands of headrests? And even if he did review all the Aeron headrests, he would definitely still recommend Atlas even though they are far from the best. Don't be naïve and too trusting with the lies that Atlas tells you.

      @kakilai  Před rokem +1

    • @atlasheadrest
      @atlasheadrest Před rokem +5

      The authorized dealer in Singapore that sold this can replace or repair at their discretion. We weren't involved in that conversation. This customer escalated it to us. We explained the warranty situation and offered to replace for minimal cost, basically our raw part cost plus shipping from the US to Singapore. The last we interacted was 6 months ago. We still want to make it right.

    • @kakilai
      @kakilai  Před rokem +13

      Let me set the record straight.
      [ Fact 1 ]The agreement I had with the authorized dealer, was that he will be the one assisting any warranty claims with Atlas. Whether he decides to replace or repair at his own cost, is none of my business. No where did he make this promise and I am well aware of that at the time of making the purchase.
      [ Fact 2 ]The Authorized dealer did make a claim with Atlas and was rejected by Atlas for the same reasons that I mentioned in the video. That was when he suggested that I file the claim directly with Atlas. I even cc-ed him to keep him in loop for our discussion. Since you are well aware that this email exchange happened 6 months ago, the least you could do is to get the facts right. Don't force me to make a follow-up video just to prove the facts. It's so uncool coming from a large corporate like Atlas.
      [ Fact 3] You did explain the warranty situation BUT no where did your colleagues offered any replacement for a MINIMAL COST as seen at the 3:00 timeline of my video. 89.90 USD for the Mesh frame is what ANYONE could have checked-out off your website back in May 2022. The price have since increased to 99.95USD (thanks to inflation). Excluding shipping, the cost of your proposal here is already 50% of what would cost me if I were to buy a brand complete set of headrest. At this point, its not even about how much I am paying, the real question is how long is this replacement going to last me?
      My email is always open, let me know how you want to make things right.

    Hello Again! This very rarely happens to Aeron chairs as well. You can see an example of a chair with the same issue here: czcams.com/users/shortstjvnjnxo1cU
    We would caution that whatever caused this issue with the headrest is likely to do the same to your chair mesh. It may be a cleaning chemical or hair product that is part of your daily routine.
    We use the same material as the chair. We match the performance of the material chosen by HM and produced by their supplier.
    The Dupont Hytrel in the mesh material is very robust. It's the same material that has been used in the Aeron chair mesh since its release in the early 90's. However, exposure to sharp edges (like the metal on headphones), lots of sunlight, and some chemicals (stronger acids and bases outside of 6-8 pH) can shorten the lifespan of the material considerably.
    With tens of millions of Aeron chairs in use and hundreds of thousands of our headrests out there, this issue is incredibly isolated.
    We are always looking to rectify issues like this and make things right. We are still more than willing to extend the solution of a significantly reduced price replacement that we offered to you previously.

    • @kakilai
      @kakilai  Před rokem +18

      Well first of all, Thanks for acknowledging that it such failure DOES happen under normal circumstances. That was definitely not the reply I got speaking to your customer service representative who kept insisting that such failure was due to customer's abuse and subsequently denying all responsibility to rectify ANYTHING. There is really no need to bring Aeron chair into the picture. Herman Miller is backing their product with 12 years warranty. Is Atlas ready to do that?
      Both products were bought together, cleaned and maintained with the same methods, but the disintegration only happens on the headrest. The facts speak for itself. Consumers deserve to know that the quality is far from "Herman Miller" standards, by how your company choose to market the product to be. I spent a year using your product before creating this review, I believe it packs more punch than some other CZcamsrs who gets offered to free products and subsequently sugar-coating their reviews to mislead consumers. Besides, I would love to not have the need to do this review. I just want a nice chair to relax on.
      Enough about how robust Dupont Hytrel is, watch my video(if you haven), and you can see how the fibre just pulverized over the slightest touch. Rather than spending time here debating and defending your product, you might want to take this feedback to the product team to improve and enhance your offerings. Don’t simply ride on the “Herman Miller” branding.

Whatever it is, you should take responsibility for not considering those while offering this product which meant for the head (with hair) at such a premium price matching Herman Miller but not equivalent in warranty offering by that 90 days cover. Your MAIN product is that mesh and the frame. What is the purpose of 3 years warranty. Truly misleading customer. Luckily I'm a not of any hair product styling user.
