Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This song was performed in Wacken Open Air in 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for at least the Human :II: Nature tour] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

its always that look at the end. Just when Floor hits the second to last high note which is where most singers would have to end the song... and then takes it to the Floor Level...that look on their faces which make Nightwish reactions gold. Greg, Floor Jansen, the Queen of Valkyries, is 6,1 ft tall, exercises every day like an Apnoe-diver so she keeps up her stamina. That was song Nr. 12+1. She also is a certified master-class vocal coach and classical trained rock singer. PEACE
She got me with that note about 3 years ago. I’ve been a fan ever since. The lead singers name is Floor Jansen pronounced Yansen. She’s from the Netherlands. The band was formed in 1996 by the keyboardist, writer, and composer Tuomas in Finland. Floor is their 3rd lead singer and my favorite.
She has her own CZcams channel as well with some of her solo work and some covers she does. I’m a huge fan of her work and of Nightwish.

If you follow the "road map" Gabriel gave you you'll have a safe and pleasant journey, it's been tried and tested.
When this was recorded Floor had been the replacement singer of Nightwish för just about 10 months. She did her first show in Seattle Wa on Oct 1st 2012 after the band fired Anette, their second singer. This was recorded Aug.3rd 2013.
This song wasn't on the set list for the tour originally since Anette didn't have the vocal ability to perform it. But Floor had heard the song when her first band After Forever" toured with Nightwish when Tarja, their first singer, was still in the band, and she loved it. So Floor asked Tuomas (the guy behind the keyboards) if they could make it a part of the set list. And they did, it was song number 13 of a 15 song set. There's som minor variations in the backing between Floors and Tarjas version, mainly that the choir have been reduced in volume. There's a video on youtube from, I think, Argentina, recorded Dec15th 2012. And there's one of Tarja doing it too. Wacken Open Air is the biggest Heavy Metal Festival, so it is said, on Earth. In a very small town of about 2000 inhabitants. What you just saw is just a fraction of what this band and singer can do. As you will come to find out, every song is different. Different styles, feels, and singers. They've had a number of lineup changes over the last 26 years. Floor Jansen( Yan-sen) had only been singing with the band about 10 months at this show in Wacken (Vah-ken) Germany. All the songs here were written for one of the first 2 singers, Floor added to the originals and made them her own. 15 songs in this set (this song was #13) and they brought that energy for every one.

Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a spinto soprano with a range of around four octaves. Floor joined her first band (After Forever) at the very young age of 16. She also attended the Rock Academie in the Netherlands and studied opera and musical theater after that. Floor has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several Master vocal coaches (She is also a certified Master vocal coach). Floor can sing in multiple languages, styles and genres. She also speaks 5 languages. Floor often refers to herself as a vocal nerd. This Valkyrie goddess is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to Nightwish. The Band hired her in 2012 as a temporary replacement for their previous vocalist Anette Olson (2nd vocalist hired after the original Tarja) to finish out the North American tour. In 2013 Nightwish officially announced that Floor and multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Troy Donockley are now permanent members of the band. Welcome to the Nightwish rabbit hole. ALWAYS love people's reactions to this song. Whenever people are shocked at how many notes Floor can hit i instinctively yell at the screen "BOY WAIT TILL SHE HITS "THAT" NOTE LIKE A FUCKING TRUCK AT THE END" in pure anticipation. That absolute Aria at the end there quite literally Floors EVERYONE who hears it. I still get goosebumps.
Another thing i love about some of these live performances, is when the crowd starts singing along with it, that is always an amazing thing to see.
The note at the end. 'That did it brah. That did it.' Yep. It did it for us all. Every time we listen to it. It never gets old.
I think with every reaction I see to this performance, I can't help but feel the reactors miss the fact that this is live, deep into the set and they all play so smooth.

And this was Floor Jansen's first time singing with the band, in a big venue. The band had split with their previous singer, This was basically her first major test. I think she nailed it. She is also now married to the current drummer of a band named Sabaton (another one you need to react to). Both fan bases of these bands are loyal and amazing. And they love reactions to their music. Floor Jansen is called the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy. Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 5 octaves (Eb2 to F5)
She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. And she's also a voice coach and teacher to boot.
Floor Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. In addition to her activities at "After Forever", she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band "ReVamp", which was disbanded in September 2016.
From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020.
This was recorded at the 2013 Wacken ( pronounced Vahken) Open Air festival in Germany in front of an audience of 82,000 people. The fiery bull head is the symbol of the festival.

Like you, I had never heard of this band either. How a band THIS good could be out there and I had never heard of them boggles the mind. Their music is just so unique, it's classified as Symphonic Metal, IMO it's not......the addition of Floor and that voice takes it to another level.....and that level is one they occupy by themselves. Enjoy your Nightwish journey......every song is an adventure.

I always be reserved to an Degree, when some tells me nowatimes, he dont know Nightwish, and he didnt know, that we rush in in Force, and bring the Views with us. Your on 37 k Subs, got the political and mainstream Artist of the last two Years for USA in the Vidlist, so you know the Deal, i bet.
On the other Hand, thats somehow very conceited by me, bcs i already know of the Music Distribution System in the States. So, even if you know Nightwish in Fact of CZcams Mechanism, i am happy you really digged the Band, all on Front Floor. If they get to snap some Souls for their Music and with their Performance, i am Happy, and here we are:).
I would suggest Ronanticide with subtitles as next one, same Concert , Wacken 2013.

You can hear Floor's growls in "Your's Is An Empty Hope". My favorite track out of all of them. "Storytime" is another good one.

Seeing someone experience their first "Floorgasm" never gets old. I think Wacken Open Air had 80,000 people. They had a 16 song set list, of which, Ghost Love Score was #13. Hard to follow that belt she did.
All songs of this concert were sung in the studio by two other singers. The first studio album with her will not be released until 2015 and the second in 2020. There are significantly more live recordings with her than in the studio.
In the meantime she has started a side project with pop music. Two singles have been released, an LP will be released next year with a small tour in Europe. Take a look at her CZcams channel.

Greg, I'm glad you decided to react to Nightwish and their singer Floor Jansen. Floor is quite possibly one of the best, if not the best, female vocalists in the entire world. She is very versatile and can sing sooooooooooo many genres. I would recommend you react to Floor Jansen and Henk Port singing "Phantom of the Opera" on Beste Zangers, Floor singing "Shallow" on Beste Zangers, and Floor's performance of "Alone" on her own channel. You'll get an idea of her range and ability from those three performances.

I'm 51 years old so a lot of my friends are cowboys fans even though I'm in New Jersey and one of my really good friends actually moved from New Jersey to Dallas and he works at the stadium I guess it's AT&t..... And my neighbor is cousins of Jim jeffcoat who is from this area........ Small world and it keeps getting smaller I saw nightwish in New York City and I met reactors from all over the place it was really cool....... I don't really have a favorite NFL team I grew up a chargers fan so I kind of root for them but I will admit I'm definitely going to root for Pickett to see what happens I mean he went to my high school so and it's a good story and I know his quarterback coach really well so we'll see what happens I'm going to keep my fingers crossed
