This is when Nightwish was Symphonic Metal :) . In my humble opinion, this was when Nightwish was at it's best
Well, Tuomas definitely moved on from one place to another. Many of the older songs have this beautiful metal rumble with the operatic voice floating on top with the occasional operatic stabs And Marko completing the beauty and the beast theme. I really enjoy those songs.
On the other hand, Tuomas would not get away with repeating the same trick over and over. I disagree with the suggestion NW has moved on to something that is no longer Symphonic Metal. There is plenty of room within the realm of Symphonic Metal to move around.
As many have mentioned now this is symphonic metal. This beautiful woman is Tarja Turunen the original singer of NW and the voice by which symphonic metal was created. She has an amazing solo career as well. I'd recommend Supremacy from Woodstock 2016 and Victim of Ritual from the same concert. She and the crowd go wild during that concert
Tarja and the original singer of Faun both are my favorite female singers for how they defined their genres.

Yes, Tarja has a very operatic style! If you really want to hear her go off, check out Phantom of the Opera from the same concert. She and Marko are an absolutely superhuman duo.
Some other amazing and quintessential Tarja songs are Ever Dream, Sleeping Sun, Planet Hell, Nemo, She Is My Sin, and Supremacy and Victim of Ritual from her solo career. She’s also collaborated with many other artists including being featured on the song Paradise by Within Temptation, one of the other “big three” symphonic metal bands. The live performance from M’era Luna is fantastic to hear both her and WT’s frontwoman Sharon den Adel!

Sort of Opera. Operatic vocals combined with metal and orchestral parts. And the result is called symphonic metal. Nightwish helped to define this style.
Original lead singer , Tarja Turunen, is the most operatic of the 3 Nightwish frontwomen. You've heard Floor, the 3rd and most versatile. The second singer was Anette Olzon with more of a pop/rock style.
This video is from the 2005 concert in Helsinki. The DVD is called End of an Era because it was the last show with Tarja.

Don’t let the people who slam one singer get to you. Most of the fans are awesome and loyal. You may end preferring a certain style, but you can’t go wrong with any of them. Anyone who tries more than one era gets an automatic subscribe from me. I like them all, so I appreciate the variety.

I recommend making a reaction to Diana Ankudinova (19), one of the best vocalists in the world, who has a unique voice - a dramatic contralto with polyphonic overtones. Many CZcamsrs have made more than 12 thousand reactions to Diana over the past couple of years. Nightwish music has always been spectacular no matter who is singing. Three suburb vocalist have fronted this band. Each one brought new sounds/styles to the mix. The evolution continues.

Great reaction. Usually the first song reacted from this End of an Era concert is Phantom of the Opera and also High Hopes. Also their radio hit Nemo is one I recommend as this has my preferred epic ending. Then theres The Siren, Planet Hell and Slaying the Dreamer.
Nice that you continue to follow Nightwish. Here you could experience the first lead singer Tarja. She and Floor are close friends and both are truly exceptional artists.

If you really want to hear Tarja go ham on them high notes, check out her live performance of Stargazers from Buenos Aires 2011. Technically it's her as a solo performer but it was originally a Nightwish song and it's easily the best rendition.

I mean no offense but there was symphonic metal bands before them, then they came, with Tarja on vocals and it set a new bar and what you could do. They were truly special. Now I don`t think so because they very generic metal, but that my opinion. They do have one of singer in Floor, but I feel in love with Nightwish and Tarja`s Voice. But i would never compare the two. They both are great.

As you say, this is from a while ago, 2005 to be exact, with their original singer Tarja Turunen who was sacked right after this concert! Check out any of the songs from the "End of an Era" show which this was taken from but most reactors focus on "Phantom of the Opera" and "High Hopes"....be ready to be blown away by the vocals, and no, not from Tarja!!

A more operatic vocal style was the comfort zone for first singer, Tarja (pron: Tar-Yuh). Some beautiful, powerful pipes!

The First Singer Tarja is more of a classical singer ...The 2nd singer Anette is more on the Pop side and Floor .....well shes " EVERYTHING"
This is older than 13 yrs. Tarja left in 2005 😱🤓 Btw nightwish is still symphonic metal🤗. However i did not like NW in Tarja era. I found her to teatrical. And she did only operatic. No diversity. I actually liked Anette better. And ofc love Floor ❤️
Huge props for checking Tarja the 1st singer for Nightwish and the older music, I almost recommend you do normal Wacken 2013 live songs then sometimes mix the older music that Tarja did. Will you give you more appreciation for the band and not just the singers =)
Tarja is a trained opera singer ger which turned many people off to nightwish. Tarja would not expand outside of her operatic style ,don't get me wrong she has a beautiful voice just not my style.
Tuomas did want operatic way of singing from Tarja during that in that era. I have never really cared about opera, but when I heard this band for the first time back in -98 it was a match made in heaven. Tarja has more versatile way of singing in her solo stuff, mixing lyrical and rocksinging. Im really tired of comparing who’s better. Floor and Tarja are both awesome in a different way. This was the era of symphonic metal, nowadays the style is more rockpopmetal.

Man great reaction I will say that thier best singer is Floor Jansen but that is my opinion and if you like Floor's singing you should check out her solo stuff as well she has 2 origianl songs Fire and Storm they are both great also check out the phantom of the opera with Henk Port it will blow you away now I see alot of people telling you to check out my favorite singer Diana Ankudinova and if you do you should start from younger to older her appearances on you are super when she was 14 and 15 "wicked games" and "human" and then Deniere Dance (this one is in french) after these do "renchenka" a russian folk song she did at 14 and then do the ones when she was 18 on showmasgoon elvis cover "cant help falling in love" depeche mode cover "personal Jesus " "crow" ( a russian pop song) and then check out her music from her albumn a duet with Brandon Stone called "side by Side" and a song called " closest soul" with sand art video it is the story of her life and how her now mother came to adopt ber she was an orpahn before that because her real mother abused her and left her at a bus stop with a broken collar bone in the winter in russia where it get extremely cold Diana was 3 when that happened that is enough for now I will tell you that your other comments will tell you about her voice a little bit any other questions just ask me in message I will answer what I can
