Yeah playing them in that order is definitely going to knee cap Trails to Zero. Its a totally fair criticism as the devs themselves made Cold Steel 1/2 stand alone from previous entries for a reason. The best part of Zero though is honestly the B plot which is tying up a major loose end from Trails to the Sky 2/3, and the scenes related just dont have near the impact if you dont understand what happened to a certain character.
Yeah, I can see how that would be a draw.
My list
tales of arise. Fun gameplay. Meh story. Bad item system.
Super mario rpg. Fun gameplay. Fixed late game and post game bossed are fantastic. Definitely a must play
Kirby and the forgotten lands. Fun game. Fun story(especially the deep lore) and i like how it doesn't rush you and let's you explore.
Sonic frontiers. Great for future sonic games to take note on how to use your past stories to your advantage to expand on everything.
Fate samurai. Good story. Gameplay is alright but cluttered as most of the systems aren't needed. New game plus unbalanced.
Shining refrain resonance. Annoying how you need to level up everyone directly. Gameplay fun and cast cute enough. Good designs at least.
Fe engage. Great gameplay. Bad story. Alright characters.
Currently playing Valkyria Chronicles 4. It's very fun as i like that type of game style

@@locloudanerpg currently I'm enjoying vc4. Just started on chapter 2 but I think I'm getting the hang of the play style.
I played codename steam a while back and while I like that way more with steam letting you take as much action as possible one attack each turn makes things more stragety.
Wish this sub class of stragety games got more attention. It's very fun and every battle teaches you how to play with the area and reactions

If I start with the first game like when I played Xenoblade Chronicles sure or god of war but I'd rather just focus on what's most current when I can.
Oh forgot to mention Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Played it. Story meh. Gameplay fun with 7 units. System ok. Sometimes it's messy but when it's fun it's super fun

Re2 remake is an amazing game I play it several times for fun and with mods it's like play with different characters. This year Atelier Ryza 3 was my big surprise, the first game was ok and I jumped directly to the 3rd game, but I reeeeeaaaaalllyyyyyyy enjoyed the game. I am not a person of crafting and pick materials but somehow Atelier Ryza 3 manage that in a way that I could not stop playing, even I fight some boss areas with OP weapons and item, something that I don't usually do
I agree on the co-op in Yoshi’s Wooly World not being very good. Great game solo though. The 3DS version is almost the same game
I will have to play Shadow Hearts at some point. I have heard such great things about the games
Yeah, I soloed a few of the harder levels and it was a blast. Def try out Shadow Hearts. You won’t regret it.
I cant believe you didnt play through baldurs gate 3. I think it would be right up your alley since its turn based combat

@@locloudanerpg yeah, being able to switch to action combat for quick victories will make farming for items and money much faster. I believe metaphor refantazio will have the same thing
