One interesting aspect is when Nightcrawler was teleporting, his flesh colored make-up coming off with each "teleport" in the White House. Eventually showing his blue skin.
That small detail was always something I loved.
28:34 When Pyro basically says to Magneto, "I can't create the flame only manipulate it" he's oblivious to the fact the very mutant he's speaking to and highly respects, Magneto, is in fact essentially the same as him. Magneto doesn't create metal, he "merely" manipulates it. In replying, "you're a god among insects," he's subtly hinting at how much alike the two of them are.
I thought that was so good when I saw the movie
The opening scenes with Nightcrawler is one of my favorite scenes in a superhero film.

I love the idea of the actors actually stepping up together like to call Singer out on his BS (granted, we didn’t know just how dark his BS was at the time…).

@@neonclouds9295 Bryan Singer is a film director, he directed 6 X-men movies including this one. He has been accused multiple times of sexually assaulting and raping children, and is infamous for his awful behavior on set including drug use and tantrums.
X2 isn’t only the best X-Men movie but it is up there as one of the best super hero films ever.

My mom took me to see it after the dentist on opening day when I was 12, that nightcrawler scene blew me away and still remains one of the best sequences I've ever seen on the big screen
Alan Cumming was Floop in Spy Kids two years before this came out! I remember my mind being blown when I realized Floop was Nightcrawler
going to the movies and experiencing the nightcrawler scene for the first time not knowing he was going to attack the president was one of my greatest movie going experiences... i was an adult that grew up on the comic books and animated series, but right there, i was in tears... never thought i would ever get to see something on the big screen that only lived in my imagination...
I completely agree. This was an amazing experience in the theater. Last stand when professor x was torn apart by Jean also blew my mind.. I may have also been enhancing my mind at the time of watching that part... These are all great movies.
Nightcrawler was not only my favorite character in this movie, but in all xmen films tied with Wolverine. I loved everything they did with him, the scars, the back story, his personality, the accent. It was all so perfect n that opening was the best the series ever had.

The Once and Future King is also foreshadowing Jean's death and return, as Arthur takes a fatal wound but is taken to Avalon with the promise to return when he is needed again.
I’ve seen this movie multiple times. I’m 25. Deadpool 3 comes out on my birthday. X2 is one of my favorite X-men movies. And I’ve never, ever, in my life noticed the green star and humanoid figure in the beginning credits. I’m speechless 😂

That scene with Jean and the dam -- if only there were a mutant or two who possibly had the ability to quickly freeze water. Oh well...
Ice man's museum scene in freezing the bully is an homage to his origin comic in 1963 "the iceman cometh" where bobby freezes a bully thus outing him and causing him to enroll at prof.x school
And in the first X-Men movie he did a similar thing in a comedic scene to pryo's fireball

I'm not gonna lie, I loved Alan Cummings as Nightcrawler, but I can't unsee the actor as Floop from the Spy Kids films. I just can't, he will always be Floop to me.

It must've been great for Alan Cummings to star alongside his Goldeneye
co-star Famke Janssen. The Janus operative characters Boris and Xenia
were an absolute delight. Their deaths, (Dowsed In Liquid Nitrogen and
Shattered Spine respectfully.) were up there for me in the list of Bond
movies "Henchmen" deaths.
Admittedly, having Gambit as the assassin would be really cool. It could have brought in the Thieves and Assassins feud down in the Bayou.
Jean reciting the opening monolog at the end is like at the end of star trek II when spock recited, space, the final frontier. Giving hope that they would both return
17 minutes in, and the folders on Stryker's computer: Graymalkin does NOT refer to Jonas Graymalkin, given that the movie came out in 2003 and Jonas wasn't introduced in the comics until 2008. It probably refers to Cable's orbiting space station, which is also called Graymalkin - both the space station and the character were named after the street address of Xavier's School, which is in Graymalkin Lane, Westchester County.

Fading to that wolf just fueled people's confusion over what a "wolverine" is.
The metal in the guard that Magneto uses to break out isn't molten, it's just small. We naturally have iron in our blood, he just had too much, allowing Magneto to use it. Although I suppose Magneto's powers could easily enough allow him to super-heat metal if needed.

One of the best X-Men Films and Comic Book Film Sequels. Takes everything that made The First One good and builds upon it. The Opening Scene is one of the best comic book scenes. Hope Cummings's Nigtcrawler comes back for Deadpool 3.

That has to be my favourite line and moment in the film. I love the dynamic Magneto had with Pyro and that its the start John’s journey into The Brotherhood. Also another cool and one of my favourite details is that when Magneto first takes John’s zip lighter he uses his powers but then he hands it back he dose so without them symbolising him building and gaining John’s trust and showing him he’s not the enemy, which is just brilliant filmmaking and writing imo

You said Jason Striker was mutant 143. Do you think that is a morbid reference to the meaning of 143 being “I love you” and since Striker is in charge of his son, he’s trying to say “I love you” to his son even though he’s the villain?
I love how Kurt instinctively saves his little sister ( Marie, Rogue ) without anyone telling him
The three action set-pieces in this movie are still, two decades later, absolutely top-tier.

i like how they reinforce that he's not always a straight-up villain; in fact, i think he's even actually been an x-man at one point in the comics

Having grew up with not just the comics, but cards, and other memorabilia, it was cool to see evolution play out from what we thought the most powerful mutants were, Professor X and Magneto as level 4, but then Jean Grey into Phoenix as level 5, true omega level
In the novelization, it is hinted at that the secret service agent who stops nightcrawler has mutant powers and doesn't know it.
Yeah, IIRC they are conscious and awake during the final scene in the Oval Office when Prof X freezes everyone who is human other than the President…

This film was such an evolution (pardon the pun) over the first movie, taking everything that worked and then building on it superbly.

You're wrong about Greymalkin. The character wasn't introduced yet. It's referring to the road the mansion is on, which is also where the character got his name.
3:42 4:53 6:50 27:09 Nightcrawler was such a badass in this film, but he's even more impressive in Wolverine & the X-Men imo. I can't wait to see him in the MCU - hopefully they'll do him justice.
I’ve always loved that there’s a connection to Highlander the Series here with the actor who plays Methos being Striker’s second in command. Methos had many many lives, being the oldest immortal, and I love the thought of him seeing the rise of mutants too.
I think this is easily the best and my favorite x men film. (As a team at least since Logan is #1) this is also just an amazing piece of cinema I think anybody could understand and follow the plot enough to be invested

Salem Centre isn't another reference to the Xavier School. It's the closest population area to the town, and where the young mutants go to hang out. Also the Massachusetts Academy is a reference to the Hellions (it's the Hellfire Club's version of the X-men school), not a reference to the later location of the Xavier School.

The Massachusetts Academy became the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters in the mid-90s around the time Generation X was formed. The Westchester school became the Xavier School for Higher Learning and shifted to having older students like a university.

I have always thought that Jean's 'DEATH' could easily have been avoided IF only one of the X-Men on the plan had possessed a power that could transform water into something that could have sealed the breach in the damn. You know, like maybe transforming it into something like an 'ice wall'.

@@randomspiel I don't know because A) he built (fashioned) a solid ice wall across the corridor in the school to say Logan. So, even as a teen he was pretty powerful. Also, as I envision your idea Bobby would be positioned as Jean was--out in the open--but with Kurt there the two of them could have teleported to the top of the dam and Bobby could then have laid hands on the wall--thereby increasing his power--and then just used ice to plug the hole giving Jean the chance to lift the jet out of danger. You know, working as a team which is the idea behind the X-Men (teamwork) as opposed to George R.R. Martin's Wild Cards.
@@WilAdams I don't feel like a wall a few metres away and stopping a barrage of tons of water the size of a lake spewing out are that comparable imo! He's also still quite young and inexperienced here, he doesn't even get his ice body form until the end of the next movie years later, let alone close to the Omega level beyond that. I like the idea of the teamwork to make up for it, but he just doesn't have the raw power to handle this to me.
Everyone likes the first drop on x2, but I think the best part is the view from the lift hill and the superman flying section after the big drop.

The fox X-men franchise deserves its flowers and I hope Deadpool and secret wars does so. As a kid, seeing the first X-men film in theaters basically introduced me to cinema not just comic book films. To this I am film geek and the first film I ever saw in theaters was X-men.

Ωmega Red made a cameo in Deadpool 2 in the prison scene. A fight scene w/ Wade was filmed but unfortunately it was cut from the film.
