Wolverine vs Deadpool first fight comes in the 2009 X-Men Origins Wolverine, a film that takes Hugh Jackman on a solo origin story with Victor Creed Sabertooth (Liev Schreiber), Team X, and Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson. Erik Voss revisits this X-Men movie to explain why it's considered one of the weaker X-Men films, and what details in this film could come back in Deadpool 3.

Good thing I didn't know who Deadpool was when I watched this movie
I was 5 when I first seen this movie in theaters, I ain’t know who Deadpool was but wolverine I knew
😂 Same, made the movie a fair bit more bearable when I was a kid.
Seriously lol!
I knew who Deadpool was and was pissed. I almost left the theater before movie was over
Really, I would have cried if I did, they messed up
Wades sword sequence in this movie was also called back to in dp2 as a joke LOL
yeah
Way funnier in deadpool 😂
I just watched Origins for the first time today, and I totally connected the dots to dp2! Funnily enough, the latter is more realistic in that a sliced bullet would still carry most of its momentum, and thus tinier bits of shaped metal would penetrate you. Plus, you don’t need a high school education to know that bullets cannot be deflected by sword (at best they’re ricocheted by shields and armor)
@@SomebodywithaCZcamsaccount bullets can be deflected from swords if they are durable and fast enough catch it.
@@chefdh Only deflected, not reflected though
That scene when Wade Wilson cuts a bullet into two pieces actually came back in Deadpool 2 when he was fighting Cable in the truck, Cable shot him multiple times, Wade acted like he was dodging the bullets but he actually ate them.
Yes I love that call back he even try to cut the bull in half too
I didn't even think about that!!!
I remember being really excited for all the origins movies that were supposed to come out like Magneto Origins
I really wanted a Cyclops Origins movie back then. Always seemed like the most overlooked X-Men in movies or animated shows. But maybe his origin in this movie is as interesting as it got 🤷♂️
There was going to be: beast, cyclops, magneto, Storm, iceman and professor x xmen origins movies but got cancelled, that would have been great as my favourite character is iceman.
I always assumed Magneto Origins got reworked into First Class since that's basically what that film was
@@tomasthenoob3435the beast, magneto and professor X origin was crammed into X-Men First Class. Then the Cyclops one was a really short part of X-Men Apocalypse. Then Iceman is cancelled
That Storm cameo is INSANE.
In what way?
They should've kept it in imo. It was dope af.
I'm STILL disappointed we didn't get more of Gambit. But despite whatever they tried to give us with Deadpool 😆, I love this movie.
Hopefully we'll get plenty more of Gmabit in the MCU lol. This film is acc great imo.
The actor Chatham Channing was going to do a Gambit Movie but they cancelled it.
@@sophiawilson8696 I know.
And the actor who played him did well and was well-casted!
Unpopular opinion, in the 2000s, this was my favorite X-Men movie. I just wanted to know Wolverine's origin story. I didn't find out until years later how much the screenwriters changed the story from the comics.
We're getting closer and closer to First Class.🙌 The best X-Men film in my opinion. Despite what happened to Darwin because that wasn't right.
I'm still not over it 😩
Darwin is cool and I was really looking forward to seeing more of his powers
I agree
One detail I like about the opening credits montage is while Logan stays calm and collective in combat throughout the years, Victor becomes more and more aggressive. Also, the whole "He wasn't your father" bit really caught me off-guard in theaters. The actor playing Logan's supposed father really looks like Hugh Jackman when you compare them side by side.
Note about Logan's father he was not a mutant but an Anomalous Human. In other words he a carrier of the X gene. I wish he could talk about what knew this,. I think he knew about what going happened later in son life. Victor knew it.
He looks even more like adult Victor too, great casting
@@nailinthefashionYeah, the resemblance is surprising. Startling, almost. Some might even say... Uncanny.
@@TitularHeroine XMEN, XMEN! (Cerebro podcast theme song plays)
@@nailinthefashion 😂nice
Honestly, I like this movie's cast. I think they did an alright job with some of the characters. I liked Taylor Kitsch as Gambit, and I liked Blob and Wraith. Lynn Collins is always a win and I also really like this version of Victor. Tyler will always have a soft spot in my heart as Sabretooth, but I also really like Liev's portrayal.
Unpopular opinion but I enjoy this movie
Taylor did really well. I wish he would get more rolls. Or more challenging rolls... He nailed David Koresh in the Waco series. I would definitely be happy if he joined the MCU
@@JacobDean88check out Savages
@@JacobDean88Taylor kill just about every role he gets. He was also a badass in Lone Survivor, Savages,John Carter, the Terminal list and Battleship. Ok I know I went on too long with that but u get the picture lol. He's a hell of an actor
The movie isn’t good, especially the last third (it has moments before then). But there was nothing wrong with the cast. Liev as Sabretooth especially was unexpected but was so good I wish he could return in the role.
He did that bullet move in Deadpool 2
The bullet split move he did "Attempt" to do hilariously in Deadpool 2 fighting against Cable😂
something that always bugged me about Origins is when Logan is breaking out of the Weapon X facility, when he carves the X in the metal wall, there's four pieces of metal right in the center of the X that literally float in place when they should have fallen out. They really did not want physics in this movie.
It stresses me out every time I watch this movie lol
Also, the adamantium caused him to almost blow the tires off the motorcycle from his weight, yet Wolvie jumps out of the tank and runs around like it was nothing. I don't think his healing factor would have made him stronger to accommodate all that metal.
Bradley's powers were used in Deadpool, thanks to his powers Stryker was able to control Wade with a computer.
I... don't think that really makes sense but good catch!
Wraith’s teleportation looks similar to how they did the temporal/time slipping/spaghettification for Loki 👀
Damn. I didn't notice any spaghettification on wraith or Loki's skeleton showing
Funny how Victor looks the most like his father even though he tried to distant himself from him
So glad you guys are doing these for the older movies 🎉 I barely remember any of that stuff!
Thank Marvel for only releasing a single MCU movie in this year. If 2024 was packed with MCU stuff like last year then we wouldn't be getting these videos at all.
I loved this movie back when it came out! Gambit was by far the best character in this film. Such a pity we never ever got to see more of this character.
It’s really good to watch a positive and enthusiastic video about this film
Also that bullet slice shot goes hard 👊
I first saw this movie when I was 10 years old extremely sick with the flu. I was in and out of consciousness on the couch and my dad put this movie on while he was taking care of me. I just remember seeing the screen and seeing Logan’s sprinting to the barn bare ass naked and I always thought it was just a fever dream until I rewatched this movie.
An adamantium bullet, while silly, would actually be an acceptable way to remove Wolverine's memories. It would destroy the neurons and the information stored in them. While his healing factor would regrow the neurons, the information that they stored would be gone forever.
Why does the bullet kill the Wolverine clone in Logan? But here just deletes memories
@@Vidaluko caliber of the round? Or just lazy writing.
@@jasonsmith2759 plothole
Blade isn't half Mutant. He is a Dhampir, Half Human and half Vampire.
About 80% of Wade talking, is just Ryan Reynolds doing improv with his own humour and sarcasm. He was the perfect cast for it, considering that's what Ryan Reynolds is pretty known for.
Blade origin was changed from human that could resist Vampire bites to turn into Dhampir his mother was bite while pregnant with him.
@@sophiawilson8696 Still doesn't make him a Mutant, though
34:00. If that's not Head- pool in Deadpool 3, I'm going to be sad, just imagine that interaction.
When I first watched this movie, I don’t think I had even seen any other X-Men movies, I had never read a comic, I never seen any CZcams videos about them, this was my introduction. And while I didn’t love the final appearance of Wade in this movie, his scene of spinning the blades around, was one of my favorite movie scenes of all time. And I was really big into Lego mini figure customization at that point, and I immediately made that version of Wade and had it for a very long time
20:39 fun fact Viggo was also one of the cast list to play wolverine in 2000 x men
I had watched this film from the infamous leaked unrendered version, and my first introduction to Deadpool was from Ultimate Alliance. Seeing him here, the only thing I recognized that they got right was his teleportation, I can’t believe Fox were so happy and proud of this portrayal of the merc with the mouth 😂
lol saw this movie originally the same way 😂😅
Factsss ultimate alliance was a goaty game too
my brother showed me and my dad a copy of the unrendered version as well
Logan also said "I'm the best there is at what I do, and what I do is not very nice" line in this movie
If you ignore the crappy excuse for Deadpool we got in this movie, this one is not actually that bad. It had some very good moments.
agreed
No, It’s still bad
Oh nah Buddy, this is BADDDDDD
That and the pretty horrible CGI
They definitely fucked up a lot of things in this film lol (i.e. Deadpool & the continuity), but I acc really enjoyed the film overall tbh.
I have no basis for this, but Ryan was crazy about playing deadpool. It wouldnt surprise me in the slightest if the post-credits scene was 100% his idea. Like imagine being so excited to play a character who's literally your dream role, and then the writers / costume design rams your dream into the ground (honestly he was killing it when he was part of the strike team). he probably ran it by some of the higher ups like "Hey so uhhhh this merc with the mouth... he doesnt have a mouth. Oh and also he's kinda got this thing where he breaks the fourth wall... any chance we can squeeze some of that in?" and they gave him one reshoot as a post-cred because they didnt wanna change the plot
Or they were planning for him to return with the full bodysuit to cover his deformity in a future film
Anyone remember the leaked version with the unfinished vfx that was crazy to wach, probably why they rushed the vfx to get the movie out finished
Wolverine suddenly not able to know Stricker is lying to him...
Origins takes place in 1979
Wolverine fought in Vietnam in 1973 then 6 years later pass by, so it’s 1979.
*3 mile island incident also happened in 1979
Good to have you again Erick Vos
So excited for this series
The opening sequence of Creed and Logan going through wars is actually still a pretty cool scene.
Absolutely loving these recap / explainer of my favorite movie series.
Been looking forward to this video 😂❤ truthfully
Jason Striker is shown frozen in Striker’s facility, which foreshadows his fate in X2 when he’s frozen by Storm in Cerebro 2.
This movie was so filled with emotional hurting moments it didn't serve other purpose
Not a revisit, but I'd love for them to break down the Mission Impossible series
Im wondering how wolverine isnt super intelligent since he lived 150 years, if you live long enough like this you accumulate a huge knowledge and wisdom
he spent most of the time fighting and doing physical work and stuff so you can say hes superinteligent in that field in a way
Doesn't hus mind keep getting wiped
he also accumulated pain ,suffering and bad experiences. He is intelligent but has also lots of issues.
one of the best scenes in deadpool 2 is when ryan "recreates" the bullet slicing bit, but instead of blocking every bullet he just gets shot a bunch
i also dont remember ryan saying anything when he unloads the clip on the dead deadpool variant in the disney version i watched recently
@@nickmagwood9200he says “you’re welcome” to the camera or something like that.
You are helping a lot
Im in the minority on this but i like this movie
the only things i dont like is the weird Deadpool and that it gets maybe a bit too whacky in the second half
10:47 Wade actually did the same move during his fight with Cable in Deadpool 2.
Like Brian Cox (X2 Striker), Danny Huston (Origins Striker) was also in Succession as Logan's financial advisor, Jamie Laird.
Loving it
This movie is my favorite one in the franchise as it answers the significance of his dog tags and the iconic brown jacket that he wore for the original trilogy.
I desperately needed that jacket in my collection.
For the memo I like this Alternate version of Deadpool it was interesting. I think if they continue making origins movies of characters they would have made more Deadpool in line of version in the comics.
It was originally intended, in later films he would have turned into the familiar Deadpool. This would have been the initial situation
Dang. You guys hiring? $77,600 isn't bad? That's amazing. I make half that...
i don't care what anyone says, this movie helped produce one of the greatest superhero games of all time (titled the same, X-Men Origins: Wolverine). That game was so much fun. Seeing Wolverine take so much damage like all of his skin being burned off from an explosion, but still fighting was amazing!
I kinda wish Hollywood would release games along with their films like they used to in the early 2000's
The game was so much better than the movie !!!! Wasn’t mystique in it too ?
I love that game too!!
Definitely should do Karate Kid and cobra Kai!! I love what you guys do on the channel keep up the awesome work!!
If Wolverine can smell lies, why didn't he realize Striker was lying to him.
Maybe it's like alie detector machine, and he only detects signs of stress. Some people don't feel any stress when they lies
Pretty sure he can sense the heightened stress hormones and if you’re an emotionless sociopath then I wouldn’t be surprised there’s no physiological indicators.
The reason they were bad the claws was because they leaked the version out that wasn't all CGI finished and then they had to rush because everybody had that version including myself.... It was hilarious
Cool guys dont look at explosions
They blow shit up and just walk away.
What about a rewatch series of saw? !
Love the channel(s)
Keep it up ! 🖤
I love everything about this ❤
Please cover the monsterverse one of these days, I love the lore in it and you guys covering it would be awesome 😊
I second that! I'd love for them to go through all the Kaijus and lore and stuff
I really like this x men movie.
Love from Belgium 🇧🇪 ❤
Here in Italy the post-credits scene we got in theaters was the one in the bar in Japan. I didn't know Deadpool was still alive until the DVD release.
Farmers! Never let Wolverine into your home. You always die
Lynn Collins is super pretty!
There are 2 details I wish you caught. I noticed this on my last watch. The barn doors foreshadow fights that are coming up.
When Logan goes after Victor at the bar, the bar doors have. “V” and an “X” for both of them. Having Logan slam through the “V” with his intent, and a warning sign above the “X” about trucks coming through.
Then at the elderly couples farm there’s a “Z” for Zero.
Your Gimli voice is on point!!
"The relationship between Wolverine and rogue was obviously meant to be like Big Brother, little sister."
I don't know. I always got the feeling from the first 3 films that rogue was a daughter figure to Wolverine, not his little sister.
I always found it funny the Hudson’s(I believe that was their name) treated Logan like their son not knowing he was much older than both of them 😂
Soon as Gambit entered the screen 🔥🔥🔥..🐐🃏
I remember after getting my wisdom teeth removed typing out on my phone to my mom that we should stop by Blockbuster on the way home to get this movie. The wisdom teeth procedure was not the worst thing I experienced that day.
Is it monday lol jus kidding im happy its out early
I remember when the film came out, i was stoked about the first maybe 30 mins... And then it just went off the rails...
33:00 "That character from Gen V" lol
Loved this movie 🍿
First: Thanks for these videos, they are the only thing maintaining my enthusiasm for marvel in the last few years... them and Loki of course. Even the duds you make more enjoyable!
That said: Have you considered doing a watch of the 1994 Fantastic Four movie? It was probably the best story of a FF Movie so far, though obviously they had no budget or if you watch the documentary, no intention from the creators to ever be released...
watch it yesterday evening and night was my first x men film
This X-Men movie is one of my favorites and it could’ve been a whole lot better but it’s still top 15 in Marvel movies for me
Good video
The blade scene he did with the blades was repeated in Deadpool 2 when he was facing off against Cable on the bus but that time he didn't manage to deflect many of the bullets as they just kept hitting him lol
thanks for not yelling at us so much.
They made a joke about the bullet scene in Deadpool 2 when him and cable fight on the prisoner transport scene
Liev Schreiber was awesome as Sabertooth, one of the best parts of this movie imo
It showed the video was uploaded 6 seconds ago so I clicked on it lol
I'm just getting into The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and its awesome. A rewatch of that would be cool!
The game for this movie was so dope
Better than movie
I loved the Videogame and The movie
I think we need an Xmen 90s rewatch!
That subtle jab at Ike was good lol
Did you not notice that when the power goes out in the film that shuts down the carnival the electric bus nearby also shuts down.
Danny Huston and Brian Cox in Succession, the former serving as financial advisor to the latter, named Logan
In the sepcial features they had character intros and wades was his twitter bio from the 1st movie
As someone who wached them all good and bad i really wanna see you guys do the cw dc series or the animated dc movies u do such a good job with marvel and everything else
This film is one them films at the time we didn't think it was the best but its kind of a classic now with brilliant moments in the movie and better than most mcu movies or series nowadays
Im glad they (maybe, maybe not I haven't watch all the movies) ret-conned this version of Deadpool.
Pretty sure Bradley's powers are how Stryker can send a signal to control Wade. Not sure if its brought much attention in the movie and doesn't make too much sense but pretty sure that's why they kill Bradley
No, you’re right
Wades early sword play was mentioned and seen in Deadpool. 2. Future bullets are just faster
He parodied the bullet dodging in DP 2 lol
My home! Northwest Territories Canada! 1:04
only movie i had on my ipod for years, no matter what the take is on this movie it’ll always hold a special place in my heart
Revisit the Blade Trilogy !
@16:10 My wolverine backstory uses kuekuatsheu as a source of power and guiding voice! this movie is my all time favorite ⚔️
Idr the video but it was talking how the electric powers were used to control Weapon 11
