The Wolverine remains one of the most overlooked X-Men films from the Fox era, with Logan (Hugh Jackman) venturing to Japan to reunite with a man from his past during the WWII bombing of Nagasaki. But with the inclusion of the Silver Samurai and Viper, this remains a Marvel X-Men movie through and through. We revisit The Wolverine scene by scene to break down the film for its Marvel references, its bizarre post-credit scene, its alternate ending, and its connections to the other films of the X-Men saga, including the upcoming Deadpool 3!

The Silver Samurai drilling into Wolverine's bone marrow will forever be engrained into my brain. That was hard to watch.
It was hard to deal with since Wolverine had that mental running through his body. Logically he would hitting that first.
@@conniecarroll747 I guess you watched a different film, the adamantium was sliced to expose the bone and marrow
Shredder*
The body Charles transferred his consciousness into at the end of The Last Stand was his brain-dead twin brother - thus, he continues to look exactly like Charles. The only thing not really explained was why he still needed a wheelchair, but I suppose that could be explained by the fact the brother's body was bed-ridden his entire life since he was born without a consciousness. Charles mental abilities were so strong he wiped his twin's mind in the womb.
That was explained in the recasted XMen, when McAvoy was only able to walk when he didn't use his telepathic powers, and vice versa.
We deserve Cassandra Nova in the MCU
@@nailinthefashionHopefully in DP3
I don't think Logan is an alternative timeline
@@PritamKayalno it wasn’t cuz in first class it also explained that he lost his ability to walk because a deflected bullet magneto moved and ended up hitting Charles’ back
I’m tryna sleep and y’all upload I guess I’ll be up for another 30 mins
Same here. 3:05 am pst
Good Evening 4:30pm India ✌️🙏
Happy night, 3:23am here
Here with y'all waiting to Clock In💯
Same lmao
I love how Magneto calls him by his mutant name and Charles calls him by his human name.
The Wolverine is underrated honestly Wolverine with a Katana is just a cool visual
X of Swords was such an epic run because of that lmao
@@nailinthefashionFr its one of my favorite comic runs
When Yukio told Logan "not on this plane" all I could think is perhaps on another plane of existence. Food for thought
I think Wolverines’s bath scene is an homage to the 1980 TV mini series Shogun. If I remember correctly, there’s a pretty similar scene where the protagonist gets forcefully put in a bath
I think the Patrick Stewart appearance in the airport, whilst confusing at the time because of the timeline, can kinda be explained with some form of mental projection. Sure, his consciousness might not be in a body that looks like him, but with how strong Professor X is, it's not hard to assume he could just be using a mental projection of himself, at least to Logan (and the characters we see in DoFP before the timeline change) so they can understand it all easier.
It was his twin brothrr
His twin is a sister@@francissobotka8725
It’s confirmed the body his consciousness is in is his brain dead twin brother.
@@Kevmaster2000 confirmed where
The Wolverine as a film was just unexpected for me and I kinda love it
Such an underrated film. 🔥🙌
Its terrible
@@LezMackrel it's really not. If you thought it was, you really need to watch more movies.
I'm sooooo hyped for DP3
Same
Me too
Yes... good.. let the hype flow through you..... mwuaahahahahahahaaaa
Yeah!!!
Me 2
I love the wolverine vs shingen fight. Especially when his regenerate is back
That robotic parasite reminds me of the kill switch that was inside of Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. Both of them are similar, being experimented animals( or in Logan's case animal adjacent)
My favourite of the Wolverine movies.
same
over Logan?
@@zeusodinson1381Love logan, but the wolverine is a little more wolverine
One of my favorite films of all time. Specifically because after a horrible day, my mom randomly took me to the cinema to see this film without me knowing. I loved every second of it.
Can't wait till you guys cover Logan ❤
Favorite Wolverine movie
I just wanted to say the captions called Yukio "Yu-Gi-Oh" and I just love it 😂😂
Yo. An upload this early is ridiculous. I’m at work right now. 😂 Now I gotta take a break and I just got here.
Stanley’s Whiskey is a great touch
Listening to this while working out in my Wolverine shirt 😎🩷
I've been waiting for this one 😊
Good videoo this is one of my favourite marvel films
I always took Charles body transfer looking like his old self to mean that Charles is projecting his own face and appearance into everyone's mind
Because he transferred his mind into his brain dead twin brother.
Been waiting for this
Sometimes these come out on a Sunday but in general this series has been making Mondays better!
I love this channel break downs
Didn’t expect one this early but I’ll watch it none the less
Thanks for another upload
If I remembered correctly, we learned that the body without concious to which Charles transfered his conciousness, was his twin brother. I guess in the world of comics that makes sense.
In the DVD commentary of the Last Stand its revealed the body Charles transfers his conscious into is his brain dead twin brother.
Yup
I believe that the airport scene is a timeline split where two apocalyptic event's happen.
The one where we see in the event's in Day's of future past.
And the others we see in Logan. I believe the sentinel program change to incorporate the tech into humans making them sentinels while doping the Mutant cure into the food supply slowly to weaken the mutants and x gene. getting rid of people's powers and making there bodies incompatible thus makes it easier to kill them. On top of that it makes sense why Professor X develop the condition due to his mind not being is own and effects of the cure destroying his Brain.
These are awesome. I hope i can watch them all
I enjoy this movie alot more than I should, proabably the most rewatched between the 3xWolvie movies (and X-men, sans DoFP). I really liked the solo story aspect and while some of the dialogue was wonky, still liked his relationships with Yukio, Mariko, and Japan. You're right, it's criminal how underutilized Hiroyuki S. is used, I admire his acting and presence. Also, very good in 47 Ronin.
What do you mean than you should*
these xmen rewatches are always fun to watch.
heres hoping a deadpool 3 trailer comes out tonight
Just when I lay down 😒😂 been waiting on this
To answer that Yukio query, it'll be a multiverse-related thing. Yes, we know now. Two Yukios for the price of one.
I always catch this movie at the beginning or the ending. I've never watched it all the way through this. It makes me wanna check it out. I love the videos, guys. Thanks
Charles appearance after swapping minds into another person can be explained that Charles is projecting his old appearance into everyone’s mind looking at him now. Which is simple enough and easy to fit in the realm of his powers 🤷♂️
Bru its 6AM...
The bullet train 🚄 scenes are the best all time! I still catch myself watching it to this day!
That pin bed was cool
I love you all thank you!
Such an underrated movie
Most underrated X-Men/Marvel movie IMO.
11:50 you call him Logi lol
4 AM NR video?? Im down for it
3am for me
6 pm here
Love it.
@4:38, hearing those people screaming is haunting.
I always thought to explain Professor X looking the same is his power, making the other body look like him and the reason he's not walking around because the guys body is paraplegic too
Assuming the rumor mentioned at the end is true that Rila will be returning as older Yukio in Deadpool 3, it's not as impossible as you may think. Due to it being a Multiverse movie it could easily be a Yukio from an Earth different than the one Deadpool is from. Not to mention most things from what I see have the Wolverine taking place in Earth-10005, the same Earth as the first 3 X-Men films and everything prior to the DoFP "reboot" and the Deadpool movies taking place on Earth-TRN414, the same Earth as everything post-DoFP, excluding some of the time travel/Multiverse stuff in Deadpool 2 and arguably excluding Logan. All that to say as far as the fans and the Marvel Multiverse and such itself is concerned the Yukio in Deadpool and the Yukio in the Wolverine are 2 different Variants from across the Multiverse.
I also like that you included the mention of what most agree Yukio's prophecy about Logan was meaning, that being the ending of the Logan movie. I was curious if you were going to include it here or hold off on it until the Logan rewatch, or perhaps both.
Love from Belgium 🇧🇪 ❤
Nice
Ive always used the head canon of Professor X not being in his own body but using a form of psychic projection so every one sees him as himself. Like the character Missy Peregrym played on Heroes.
You can never have too many Yukios.
This is my favorite of the three Wolverine movies.
The actor who played Yoshda also played my favorite character from John wick 4
I gotta say this movie was the craziest Wolverine movie I've ever seen. The heart parasite scene goes crazy alongside the train action scene, it's just good.
five minutes into this video I ended up putting on the Wolverine. It’s the opening scene for me
Professor X transferred his consciousness into his twin brother's body, it wasn't a clone.
He was born with low brain functions, so basically Professor X had an identical spare body just incase.
Since his twin brother was bedridden his whole life, he had muscle dystrophy, which is why Professor X had to use a wheelchair again.
This is pretty comic accurate, like you mentioned in the video, Professor X was transferring his mind to clone bodies and stuff.
He also has a twin sister in the comics.
The reason Wolverine has metal claws in Days of future past is because Magneto reforged them. They were fighting sentinels so Wolverine had to be at his best.
Possibly Charles is using his powers to make everyone see him as his old body, he does have that skill set🤔
I’ve noticed Spike Lee tends to criticize every big movie in some form or fashion as long as it’s not his… but then turns around & cries about the people who criticize his movies! Go figure
The design of the silver samurai in the movie reminds me of another Hugh jackman film, Reel Steel
Good video
18:57 - The last of the original bullet train fleet was retired in 2008; the name doesn't really fit the later models of shinkansen because they don't have the rounded ends. Maybe the 100 and 200 series would qualify, but they were also gone by 2013.
No shock that Mangold made two of the best Wolverine movies.
Impossible; you cant break down the Wolverine, he's made of adamantium
I think wolverine and yukio partnership is the stand out part of the movie
the two Yukios have wildly different powers. It could just be that they share the same first name by coincidence.
In 22:04 the plane that is seen is a Boeing 747 not a 737, this is one of my favorite Wolverine movies, as the more vulnerable he gets, the more dangerous he becomes
31:10 I think Charles is projecting an image of himself into Logan’s mind here.
This film is underrated!!
The metal from the bed looks kind of like adamantium. But also reminds me of vibranium, like Tony’s suit and other tech that molds around people’s bodies. 🤘🏽
8:37 respect
Greeting from Canada
Am I the only one who felt like Jean was reaching out from the White Room?
"The resilience of Loki's memory" 😆
Kate and Leopold is SOOO good
around 2:39, he is not able to escape with his bone claws. He is using his bone claws to help him look out because otherwise he just be at the bottom of the well.
this healed my indigestion
The 3rd Act aside this is a very good and underrated X-Men film. A Apology Letter For Origins. Can't wait for The Deadpool 3 Trailer today and hope to get McKellen's Magneto.
It makes sense if you think about how the professor powers work he can more then likely appear how he wants to people mentally . I’m sure that is a big strain on his powers to keep it up all the time but he is one of the most powerful psychics
Aside from the final battle, I really like this movie.
Might be one of the best intros to a superhero movie
I love how you gave a shoutout to the scriptwriter! Well done @NewRockstars!
The starkness of seeing an atomic bomb go off - with the haunting screams, even if in a fictional superhero movie, should really be a listen to all humanity
The way Wolverine acts in this film reminds me a lot of Hugh Jackman's character in Real Steel tbh
Personally I always liked Wolverine's Yellow and Brown costume.
Rn on my X-Men rewatch I'm on X-Men: Apocalypse. So far X-Men, X2, The Wolverine, X-Men: Days of Future Past and Deadpool has been my favorites
Never need this early before. Insomnia for the win
18:23 No, it felt AWESOME. It’s the best scene in that movie lol.
My favourite Wolverine movie.
31:10 I always assumed that Charles, being the powerful telepath that he is, just projected his face into the minds of the people he wanted to recognize who he was.
Now I gotta watch this lol
Not like im trying to go to bed or anything ❤
I am just waiting for them to release x men days of future past rewatch because I love that movie
I waited all day for you to be
Lets goooo 3am nr video
I love the yellow suit in this movie! Even though we never got to see it in action I can just imagine Hugh Jackman would have looked amazing in that suit!!
19:16 bruh ts had me dead in theaters 😭
I just watched this movie on a coach 10 seconds ago and now find this uploaded 10 hours ago lol
