I will never forget how upset and sad I was when the Greeks scored against them at the last minute in semifinals.

I remember that referee Colina helped a lot. With his 'special' whistling, he basically trampled the Czechs' taste and combativeness into the game. It was clearly visible at the end of the match. Then came one well played standard situation from the Greeks and that resulted in to a goal, after more than 90 minutes of a constant defense.
So congratulations to Greece for winning, and huge thanks to the Czechs, who played the most beautiful football of the whole championship. :)

I remember that match. I am from Poland but in my opinion it was the best football match I've ever seen (and I've seen many of them in last 30 years). Absolutely phenomenal.

One of the most unforgetaible matches was ever played. Chances for score 7:7, big players, big goalkeepers, big coaches. Both teams were great in this match.
I really wonder if there are more matches with that many full chances for both teams. Watching it back then, i felt like every attack by both teams was dangerous.

What a tremendous match this was. That squad of Czechia was really talented with some household names like Koller, Nedved, Rosicky, Poborsky and Smicer. Baros even managed to end Euro 2004 as topscorer with five goals.
Every time i see the highlights or the goals of this match, i remembers how Czech was a power house at that era and wished Nedved shot never hit the post, it would have been a gr8 goal like the one Figo' scored in England in Euro 2000!

I started the tournament suporting the Netherlands after they missed out on the world cup but after seeing the resilence and tenacity of the Czechs, I began supporting them. Poborsky was awesome. Nedved, Rosicky, Baros, Smicer they were so good and I was furious to see them lose to boring Greece.

That was my experience as well, supporting Netherlands but I was amazed by the czech football. Watching Nedved, Baros, Rosicky, Poborsky, Coller was incredible
These Euros were the first tournament I actively watched as a kid. I was on holidays in the Czech Republic when this game was on, and after the match I got a Czech shirt with Nedved's name on it. On the camping site where we stayed, Nedved became my nickname. It's funny that even though we lost, this is one of my favourite Holland games, with the breakthrough of Arjen Robben, the battle of the giants Stam and Koller, a Czech side with Cech, Baros, Nedved, Rosicky and Poborsky, and plenty of scoring chances and attacking play all around.
Now that I watched it again, I do think the referee should have awarded two penalties, one to the Czechs and one to the Dutch. Ujfalusi has his arms wrapped around Van Nistelrooy's waist (5:10), and Van Bronckhorst clearly hits the ankles of that Czech winger (9:37). So 3-4 would have been the fair result, though the expected goal ratio was probably more like 4-6. So many missed chances: that Smicer attempt was a sitter, Seedorf not even hitting the target with that effort at 3:09, and then that late Nedved thunderbolt against the crossbar, that would have been goal of the tournament.

I watched this game at the time and it was one of the best games of football I have watched. Two fantastic teams playing great football.
Also, Poborsky demonstrates to the likes of Beckham that the byline exists and a wide player can reach it if they try.

Fun fact : Czechs all goals in this group matches came from behind!
First game won 2-1 against Latvia
Second game won 3-2 against Netherlands
Third game won 2-1 against Germany!
It is also the only team to ever be knocked out by a silver goal rule!
Silver Goal Rule only applied in 2004 and bad luck it fell to Czech vs Greece!
It was that if the teams went to extra time and one teams lost in the very first half of extra time then the second half (15 minutes) of the extra time will not be played and the game will officially be over!
Czech conceeded the goal with zero minutes if not one minute before half time of the extra time!
Greece were lucky that the rule favoured them otherwise the Czech with their spirit of comebacks from the group matches would have pulled it of maybe to win it all together before penalties or to the penalties!

This was the game of the most infamous substitution in Dutch football history: "Robben off, Bosveld on". Bosveld then proceeded to 'guard' Nedved by following him everywhere without ever hindering him in any way or taking the ball of him once.

Best match of that tournament apart from England 2-2 Portugal and Greece 1-0 Czech Republic. Czechs had a great team and played the best football in that tournament with Nedved, Baros, Rosicky, Koller, Smicer, Poborski, Cech. Even Jankulovski who went to that great Milan team in 2005. Them losing to Greece in semifinal was heartbreaking. I remember that Roteiro ball, it was a very heavy and hard ball and wasnt my favourite. Teamgeist in 2006 was much better

I'm not saying this because I'm Czech, but this was one of the best football matches, I've ever seen. I remember how sad I was, when the Greeks scores in last minute of extratime and the dream of gold medal faded away.
I just remember I slept after two Dutch goals and got up to admire the insane result
