Strange referee, trying to tackle a player.
He should have redcarded himself.
That was the last game he ever officiated.
@@Heathen.Deity. good
@@Juanfcoglezf he realised what he’d done straight after the game and reigned before his association even looked into it.
He was a famous but very controversial ref
heyyy Absolutly agree ! I never seen that before ! Shame on him.
Two teammates red carded for fighting each other. Every manager’s dream 😄
funny 🤣🤣
There was a third hilarious Red Card for Newcastle in the same game, Stephen Taylor had a deliberate hand ball in the box in the 73rd minute and tried to act like the ball had hit his chest with a dive. It might be more remembered had it not been for the Dyer-Bowyer fight.
Hahahahaha

Absolutely hilarious. Pair of half-wits.
That missed penalty somehow completely destroyed Asamoah Gyan's carreer. He was never the same after that.
First time Ghana went so far in the competition and he had a chance for a qualifier. Psychologically devastating for him.

As a referee I would have given that goal to Ghana straight away...That was one of the saddest moment in football...

Tevez getting a red card for doing the chicken dance will always be legendary, "inciting violence" they said 😂😂😂
I can't throw stones, the chicken dance makes me violent as well. I'm no longer invited to any weddings

@@tanita6234 aaah damn, lol...
I'm not against setting a better example for kids etc who are watching, but sometimes political correctness does get out of hand, and that's only doing the opposite.
But refs simply make some crazy calls under pressure or when they wake up angry, as seen in this very video, maybe it's just that in the end. Let's not comment on them pushing certain teams in the past.
The pro/truly competitive part of football is causing such probs tho, when the atmosphere in matches is intense, many things get out of hand more easily.
3:08 - This red card is definitely legendary 😅

3:17 as soon as he grabbed the balls well ref changed his mind 🤣. Even the ref felt the pain
Some of these red cards, like that given to Rooney, are so absolutely outrageous, make it clear that VAR is badly needed. Sadly, the ref and VAR just 'choose' whenever they feel like it's needed, wheter or not it's actually needed.
Var didnt exist in most of those, and yes its true that some of them didnt deserve a red card, however something that people dont understand is that red cards are given when the foul is severe OR when the intention of harming others is clear, even if its a minor thing
Ronaldo should have been banned for several games after that performance, but Rooney was just as bad for making up with him when they went back to Old Trafford.
In that second red the red pretty much gave the guy a red card because the ref himself ran into the player
Beckham whispering "You Hero" after Solskjær's red card was legendary xD
makes me laugh Solkjaer could of caught the ball with an extra 5 yards if he kept running
@@digitalT83 couldn’t risk the guy shooting early though, plus it would’ve been in the box where there’s a higher risk of having a penalty
I would have done the same if I was Ole, just bring him down, try not to be violent. Safer to concede the freekick than a free run against the keeper
@@micheleferri2119 Yeah. You may be a man down, but at least you didn't concede. I got a red card in my younger days, in the dying seconds of the match, handling the ball on the line. They missed the penalty and we won. Coach was maaaaaad though xD
I dunno, i think it'd be better not to play a man down. The keeper CAN save it you know.

And the ball was way of target,so really pointless

Shouldn't they as per rule just give everyone a yellow card for that?
I don't get why they do it, has a referee ever gone "Oh, you yelled at me for a minute, sure I'll change my call".
They yell at referees to try and make refs reconsider. There's always the var. Some refs in the premier league don't check var most times and rely on their judgement which is wrong 90% of the time.

7:25 I have watched this clip dozens of times over the last two years and I don't think McKenna makes any contact. It's a red card for lashing out but as far as I can see, his foot doesn't actually make contact with Fredo's face. Morelos then spends the next 5 minutes on the ground receiving treatment and is surprised when he gets a red for stomping on McKenna's balls (which you haven't included for some reason).

One of my favorite red cards was for John Guideti for Feyenoord Rotterdam, who took off his shirt after scoring 1-0 from a penalty kick against RKC Waalwijk, and got his 2nd yellow for it. 1:30 He should be red-carded for that dive. Justice of a sort.
If you watch clearly, before he dives he is actually the one that goes in with his forehead and then jumps as though he got the head-but. Good theatrics awarded with a red on the opposition.

Its embarrassing to be fighting your own team
Honestly if I was the coach I would have kicked them out of the team or put them on the reserve team. Imagine being dumb enough to fight each other during a game.. thats just low
its all about jens lehman's red in the 06 champions league final. manuel almunia thought he'd have front row tickets to the game, but the look on his face when the red card comes out makes me think he didn't think he'd be THAT close to the action :D
2:43 lookin like a couple of convicts going at it with the pinstripes 🤣
My favourite sending off is Josip Simunic at 2006 World Cup. Because he was booked three times in a single match.
I hate that cost Australia a win. Yes we got through in the end. Glad that ref got sent home.
Same ref also went to give an Aussie a yellow for something one of the Australian born Croatian players did because he got confused with the accent.
Unbelievable how pervasive flopping is in this sport. It’s crazy how it’s just their go to move even after committing a clear foul themselves
Right......at this point its almost a tie between Soccer, NBA and MLB for biggest babies.....makes a lot of the games, matches just hard to watch.
Unfortunately it gets rewarded a lot. Even worse is when a player gets fouled but stays on his feet, then doesn’t get the call from the referee. It basically punishes people for NOT diving.
@@bccbaron12 Yup, the players on my team got slammed in the media for a couple years for diving (when in reality they were no where near as bad as half the league but such is English media). They then stopped going down basically ever even when it is a blatant foul that has stopped them scoring a goal and now we receive statistically the least penalties in the league by a landslide. How the ref association doesn't take note of this and figure something out I couldn't tell you. They are exactly the cause of diving in Football.
Too much benefit, not enough risk/downside. You can't really eliminate the benefit because if a foul is actually there then a free should be paid, but they can definitely do more to increase the risk if the player is found to be acting too much.
VAR is cutting it down these days. The players can't con the referee when he can go to a screen and watch it.
0:55 Just love Van der Gouw's reaction. Probably doesn't have that much faith when he goes up to the ref
3:07 When you get called for a handballs.
The one at 7:57 makes my blood boil. I know you can't take off your jersey while on the playing field, and until he gets off for the sub he's still considered an active player, but this ref is following the rules to an extreme degree. Just let the player take off the jersey while jogging off. It's a dead ball anyway, it's not like him removing the jersey changes anything.
Shit ref.
Is THAT what that was? I was trying so hard to figure out what he did wrong and I came up empty. That is so stupid. One of the main things they teach you when becoming a ref is when to let things slide for the sake of making the game easier on everyone involved. That's the whole point of advantage plays and such. No one is supposed to take the rules this seriously. That's why referee discretion is still considered so important despite having all this new technology that can do most of the job. Only humans know when NOT to follow the rules.
@@ClaimedMinotaur Yeah he's like a videogame ref. Just a robot following the rules to the letter without thinking about things like advantage and ensuring a fair game.
There's a huge difference when a player takes off his jersey to celebrate after a goal. Everyone knows this is a yellow so when players do it, they don't even complain when they get the yellow. You could see it on the player's face that he was not expecting the ref to card him for this.
@@MistaZULE so the guy had a yellow card before that tho right? That's why he got the red? That ref was terrible tho that's a dumb reason to give a card at all if he was jogging off the field already
@@kaye8324 Yeah it was second yellow. Exactly, such a shit ref. Ruining a game just because the guy was technically breaking the rule. No thought, but give the card.
Ppl r gonna hate me for saying this but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the ref is just a little bit... racist. Black players often have really hard times in eastern european leagues and refs being racist over there is legitimately a thing. Regardless there's definitely some form of bias going on here, you don't make such predatory bookings when you're being fair
