      Bracelet… oh they didn’t give us that option.. bad move IMO… and while the Velcro strap colourway is nice.. it’s bulky and very casual that won’t go under a shirt.. again it limits the wearer . Big shame

      You are soooo right. The few who may have received one (which are probably the 2 guys on the promotional video) already flipped it to buy rounds of beer to the friends. And now, several thousands people wear a Velcro strap with a shirt thinking, “I look like French special forces”.

    Great video Harrison, and definitely on point! There’s something about the Matt blue dial of the pelagos that is just so appealing. I like the fixed spring bars also; the fact that it’s different and designed for purpose. Overall, great to see Tudor resuming, and building, on their legacy with the French Navy 👏👍👊

  • @macoyupadoodle
    @macoyupadoodle Před 2 lety +19

    Problem is even if it is thinner than the regular Pelagos , having a strap go behind the case not only negates this or makes it even thicker than the original .

      There are ways round this.

    • @josevasquez1781
      @josevasquez1781 Před 2 lety

      I agree, with the strap going under hung from the bottom it will increase its height, also the first thing that I see when flipping it over is NO sapphire case back to show off the 5602 "in-house" movement!

    • @josevasquez1781
      @josevasquez1781 Před 2 lety +1

      Thinner indeed but with fixed lugs that are thick and robust as people say they are, the height will increase with the straps provided as the straps are under hung. I like to see the 5602 in-house movement instead of a plain case back which brings me to this new Tudor having only 200 meters water resistance. Finally 52mm from lug to lug means it will take up wrist space. I do love the new deep blue color but not a fan of bidirectional bezel.

    • @simonbailey2151
      @simonbailey2151 Před 2 lety

      @@josevasquez1781 Looking at the side view it does look quite blocky. I would imagine it would wear better if those fixed lugs were more down turned.
      I personally don’t think a pure tool watch should have a display caseback.
      Finally, one could use an extra long Zulu strap with the fixed lugs as a double loop and wear the watch ‘on skin’.

    • @macoyupadoodle
      @macoyupadoodle Před 2 lety

      @@josevasquez1781 i agree it would be nice to have certain civilian features but i guess it would compromise the watch due to the military nature of the scope of work. And being a military contract extra aesthetic, and technical features would raise the price per unit. (200m is overkill for its intended use)

    Fixed bars are almost unique to military spec watches.
    The bars on my 1953 Omega RAF Pilots watch are fixed, and back in the day, the watch did not come with any strap, that was left to the new owner.
    That is probably something a watch manufacturer couldn't get away with today, but the Omega 1953 was specially ordered by the Gov, and only 5000 were ever produced.

    Didn't Yema provide an official wristwatch to the French Navy with the Yema NavyGraf and the Yema NavyGraf GMT ?
    Since World War II, the Marine Nationale must be the world's largest tester of military watches as Airain, Auricoste, Blancpain, Omega, Rolex, Tudor and Yema have passed the revue...
    These "expensive" watches will probably be given out "on loan" only... but it looks like none of these M.N. branded watches will be issued and this is only a pure marketing partnership with the Marine Nationale - French Navy.

    • @alexandrelarsac9115
      @alexandrelarsac9115 Před 2 lety +3

      You are very right. Yema is the generic Marine Nationale official watch. Tudor is trying to become the Marine Nationale official divers one. No, the Marine Nationale will not issue a 3650 € watch XD... In real life, french combat swimmers are issued a G-shock. A few years ago, RALFTECH did the same. They gave a watch upon graduation to every new combat swimmer. With the nice french combat swimmer badge on it. Nice gift but given for marketing not for real operations. What navy is going to give a 3900$ watch when a G-shock do a better job for 50$ ?.. The very large majority of soldiers go to war with G-shock, not an expensive mechanical watch.
      Nice one anyway.

      Yep! In 2021 a dive watch is an anachronism, especially for recreational diving, but a lot of people will tell you about the need for a manual back up system in case of a failure in a digital one.
      You'll often see military and professional drivers with manual back-ups on their other wrist or looped through their BCD's although it'll surprise nobody to learn they aren't seadwellers or subs! You're mostly looking at Citizens or Seikos etc but the principle remains.
      In many ways i applaud Tudor for completely ignoring the needs of the desk diver to produce a watch that is designed to fit a specific request, from a specific user group.
