The One We've Been Waiting For? Pelagos Owner Reacts To The Tudor Pelagos FXD Black US Navy

  • Tudor unexpectedly released a new watch, the Pelagos FXD Black US Navy, just a few months after releasing the special edition Carbon Pelagos FXD for Red Bull. That said, the US Navy version is a release that just makes sense given the incredible milsub/1680 aesthetic with the black dial, black bezel, and red writing. Now alongside the original 2021 Marine Nationale Pelagos FXD, we now have two amazing colors to choose from: navy blue and black, and I am loving both of these watches.
    So in this video I’m going to get into my reactions to the new Pelagos FXD Black from the perspective of a Pelagos owner, and I will see whether or not I’ll get one and if I do, which version I would get. And with these two awesome options, it's a tough choice.
    (Original FXD Background)
    The Marine Nationale holds a very special place in Tudor’s history because in the 1970’s Tudor produced military spec (milspec) watches for them. These are amongst some of the most coveted vintage watches, right up there with other Rolex watches and Omegas. Instead of recreating the original watch or just making a Black Bay 58 in a new color, Tudor has created a watch that embodies what a Marine Nationale watch would actually be in 2021. That is why the Pelagos was the perfect platform to create this momentous watch.
    The Tudor Pelagos is Tudor’s purest tool watch and is one of the absolute best dive watches on the market. I would go so far as to say that regardless of its price the Pelagos holds its own against the venerable Rolex Submariner and Sea-Dweller. I have owned my Pelagos for almost 6 years now and I am absolutely in love with the brutal tool watch feel and the air of competence. The use of titanium is perfect and the effect it has on the overall wearing experience is immense. The titanium bracelet feels silky and deceptively lightweight and finally the clasp is an absolute marvel. The microadjustment system is easily the easiest system to use and I really do believe that it is better than the much lauded Rolex Glidelock system.

    This black dial compliments the blue dial greatly and gives buyers a choice. I am primarily a bracelet guy and would likely purchase the pelogas 39 or 42 . I do love the color choices of the FXD line they are striking and pleasant to look on. Too bad they don’t come on bracelet . Great channel sir, keep up the great job

    I really like the black dial FXD US Navy version. The red Pelagos on the dial is the chef's kiss. I also really like the blue Marine Nationale FXD. These are my 2 favorites in the Pelagos line. They wear very nicely and both look incredible. Cheers!

    Great video bro! I have the 42 and FXD MN22. I love them both for different reasons. The blue is striking. It’s my first blue watch. I love the matte finish on both watches. The 42 is very utilitarian. This new black FXD is super versatile because it’s thin, black, matte and you can pair it with so many straps. I know many have claimed this to be an underwhelming release but I believe it’s a perfect everyday under the radar driver.

    Great video! It's been a while since Tudor have gone with green and I would not be surprised at all to see the next iteration in green. Hopefully more along the lines of Harrods green rather than any other shade. How about a bronze FXD with green! That could be stellar if executed right. We all know the relationship of bronze in diving history, so again I would not be surprised to see that either. Maybe alongside a green dialled regular Pelagos 42

    I just picked up the blue MN today. It was a tough choice between this and the black FXD, as they had both in stock for me to try out. I did have them order me the green strap with the red line off the black FXD since I think it works with the blue. If anyone is having issues with the strap length, they have the shorter strap models as well. They can order it for you.

    I've been a big fan of the Pelagos Line-up ever since buying the Big Blue version when it was first released. I still love it!. I wanted to get the blue FXD but felt it was too close in color to my OG. But now with this newest black dial version I might have to go for it. But I feel the same way about waiting a bit to see what happens at Watches and Wonders. Why not wait. This newest black dial Pelagos will be hard to get for the next 6 months or so. Time for patience.....

    I think this is a really cool release (although a bit over marketed), but I already have several great black dial watches so I still plan to pick up a blue MN24 next year to celebrate my 30th birthday. I think the actual military tie in for the MN version is really cool whereas the black is more of a historic tie in than a modern collaboration

    I'm not a bracelet guy, so this new FXD is right up my alley. I've never considered buying a watch over 1K but I really like this black version with the red text and matte dial/bezel. I'd consider putting down the $ for this one.

    • @thewatchidiot
      @thewatchidiot  Před 9 měsíci

      Yeah when it comes to higher price point I like making sure that I'm getting something unique and worth the price and the FXD is just that! I'm in love with my original Pelagos 42 and it's experience can't be replicated and the same thing goes for the FXD. If someone wants the FXD experience they pretty much need to get the FXD

    I love the original Blue Pelagos - it is one of my favourite watches and I wear it a lot. This Black FXD just feels like a marketing stunt and it is starting to feel that Tudor is running out of ideas. Releasing different colours of the same watch like they did with the new Burgundy Black Bay 41 a couple of months ago - they will release the blue and black bezel ones early next year of that watch just to keep the marketing hype up. Come on Tudor, you aren’t Rolex, give us something new!

    I'm a huge fan of the Pelagos line. I love my LHD and the Pelagos 39. I love the look of the FXD but when I tried it on what must be nearly 2 years ago I didn't find it comfortable on either strap which was a shame. If I were in the market for a new one I'd have to have a serious conversation with myself as to which version to consider. I love the blue dial but I'm less of a fan of the bezel, the new black dial ticks the bezel box that I'm used to but is another black dial..... Anyway for now I'll stick with what I have. To be honest if I was considering another Pelagos it would be the 42mm blue dial over the FXD as I know it has a super comfortable brilliant bracelet. I just can't justify it though.
