I really love the story behind this watch and as a prior military guy i am drawn to the military watch culture and the watches designed for and used by various units. Read the blog Watches of Espionage where they give an indepth background of this watch. Created as a unit watch for Development group and worn by them, Tudor then commercialized it. I think this will be a big hit in military circles as the watch culture continues to grow.
Yup, it would be nice if Tudor released a smaller version of the FXD; something like a Pelagos 39 FXD.
I'm sure that you can find a watch that fits your dwarf wrists somewhere.

I'm actually wearing this very watch right now. I have both this and the blue MN variant and these are two of the most comfortable watches I own.
MN22 is my go to! I do like the colour and the pop of red, but I have become addicted to the countdown bezel…

Tudor is the best brand for quality and variation below the big boys and Rolex, i love them, my newest is a proper sleeper, never seen, never spoken, its an awesome piece, the 43mm Bronze on black leather. ❤

Wearing a Pelagos 39 that I was lucky enough to find at a Tudor Boutique while traveling on my honeymoon ❤❤. I just don't expect the black fxd will overcome the 39 in sales because of the fixed lugs. even though I love this characteristic of the fxd, I believe it is a limitation a lot of people don't want to have on a watch.
Why not both or in my case collect them all
If this version of the FXD’s availability (or lack thereof) is similar to the MN, popularity is irrelevant.
@@2K9s great point. ITR I asked at Tudor Boutique about the fxd (the blue one at the time) and they confirmed that those come just once in a while...something like 10 or 15 a year, if so.
The clasp on the 39 was kinda of sharp and scratched my wrist enough that the rubber strap was more comfortable. It was close, but I’m swapping this guy for the new FXD
Great review. Just wondered why this 42 too large when you wear the 42mm 300 diver? Is it the fixed spring bars/thickness?
IMO the FXD actually wears pretty small or well for a 42mm because the „fixed spring bar“ portion in the lugs sit lower than the case and allow the nato strap to hug your wrist well, even if you don’t have big wrists. So don’t write it off without trying it on. My wrist is 6.7“ for what it’s worth

I think putting a sapphire caseback on this model would be the least logical change you could make to this watch.

I have a modded, by me, Seiko SKX007. A double dome, AR coated ‘Crystal Times’ sapphire crystal with a Sub style ceramic bezel insert. Not particularly accurate, but built like a brick out house. Second note, hasn’t the black and white FXD got a unidirectional bezel

Watching this with my new Pelagos 39 I picked up for only $2770 USD over the weekend.
Why does Tudor even make these watches (Pelagos FXD) if customers cannot buy them? I have called almost every authorized Tudor Dealer within a 200 mile radius of my home and none of them have received one (so they tell me when I call).

I’m wearing the Bulova Lunor Pilot chronograph on a black leather strap.
What I don't get about this watch is why they went with the elapsed time bezel. The MN version has a countdown bezel because it is useful for underwater navigation. Now that divers use dive computers, a countdown bezel seems to make more sense than elapsed time. By the way, Watchfinder did a good video explaining why a countdown bezel is still useful for a frogman wearing a dive computer.

The new Tudor is a great watch but the build up just left me underwhelmed

4:30 - have on 69 Tudor Submariner 7016 transitional.
I like the FXD a lot but when I tried one of the Marine National versions I just didn't find it comfortable, now that's just me. I have the Pelagos LHD on the bracelet that fits like a comfortable pair of old shoes and the Pelagos 39 that fits pretty close. I love the FXD but if I didn't wear it I would not enjoy it. A great watch just not for me unfortunately.
It's definitely you. And I know because I also own the 42 and FXD (minus the 39)
I have MN FXD and I find it incredibly comfortable - I forget I’m wearing it.

Chewdoor (Tudor) FXD diver specs vs Seiko LX diver, Seiko Titanium 5 i think is better than Tudors Titanium that looks grade 2 that is non polishable, Seiko LX diver is a better diver than Chewdoor FXD diver, they are almost identical in prices at chrono 24, Titanium 5 even 2 is so much nicer on the flesh instead of the rough straps on the wrist in the case back, that design is not the smartest, cmon Chewdoor.
anyway, what do you think about LX vs FXD specs side by side? What do you think? I really appreciate if you could reply to a fellow watch nerd, thanks.

Love it, and Seal Teams have been using it for a year. That said, fixed lugs will keep this one from being the new best seller.
Better than a Luminox, that’s for sure.
42mm on strap is like 40mm on bracelet
This is a very practical watch. Does what it says on the tin and is functional for divers or outdoor enthusiasts. Having said that, there are other manufacturers which can do equally as good and probably much more for a much less price. If you are into brand worship, then this is for you, but for those of us who are more sensible, go for something cheaper.
for British ex-Mil you cant really go far wrong with a CWC RN or SBS Diver - that's what i actually use for tech diving!

I wouldn't even mind the price. If they would make the indices bigger like my Tactical Frog FX then i would consider one. Right now my Frog homage looks better imo.
Now they need to release the Pelagos GMT with bracelet, date, Coke Bezel, Thin formfactor, 41-42mm size, stainless steel. Pelagos GMT in red where the Pelagos text sits. muah!

Boring. Why not throw a dark green Bezel on it? Even a grey/ghost bezel would be cooler than just black. Why choose this over the 39?
39 looks busy and is on a bracelet, rather have this as a compliment to my bb58 than the 39. But youre right, if I didnt own the 58 id go for the P39
Rocking my OG FXD MN21 - the FXD in its purest form.
IMO the USN is a meh release...I also have a Submariner 124060 and last November, I purchased a Pelagos 39 - I really liked the P39 however I was wearing my Sub or FXD more so I moved the P39 on.
Would love Tudor to make a FXD USN in 39mm - that would get my attention. This USN release is a hard pass for me.
I like it, but, it just doesn't 'speak' to me i guess.
Blue FXD wasn’t selling so they’ve slapped another dial and bezel hoping to recover losses. That’s my bet.

Still to big. Dial looks very big aswell since the hands are painted black in the base. Beside from this it's perfect. Tudor is such an 'almost' brand
"Kind of" five minute markers? "Kind of" indices? They are genuinely five minute markers, and they are genuinely indices. Neither is "kind of." For whatever reason, someone told you that randomly adding the phrase "kind of" to things, as you do DOZENS of times is helpful. Well, they were wrong. It makes you sound wishy washy and it waters down meaning. When you go to a restaurant do you order a "kind of" hamburger with "kind of" fries? Sounds weird, right? Exactly. That's how it sounds every time you do it.
The fixed lugs turn it from a nice daily driver into an overpriced beater.
