Earl Campbell - Saints Highlights

- Earl Campbell, like so many great players before him, did not get a storybook ending to his career. Following six amazing years with the Houston Oilers, Campbell was traded to the moribund New Orleans Saints, where he spent two lackluster seasons before retiring.
All video and music are property of their respective owners and the NFL. I'm not profiting off this video.
Song is called "Angelic Gas" and was composed by Alan Moorhouse and found on Dave Volsky's channel: • Video - Sport
In honor of the Saints losing yet another heartbreaking playoff game (Go Vikings!), I've put together this short "highlight" video of Earl Campbell in his final days as a New Orleans Saint.
Calling it a highlight reel may be stretching things a little bit, as what you see here were the only five highlights of him I could find on CZcams (and one of those involved him fumbling the ball). I used a clip from his "football life" documentary for the title montage, but I consider using those highlights to be cheating, if that make sense.
But in all seriousness, I was working on a Warren Moon video and I ran into some technical difficulties that will delay the video for a while. So I started working on an Earl Campbell video, since people love Earl Campbell. All of the highlights I found came from his Oiler days, and i was going to stop there anyway.
But then I became curious and started looking for Saints clips to add to the video. I thought I'd find at least a couple minutes worth of footage. In reality, what you see in this short video is all that exists of Earl Campbell in black and gold on CZcams/Vimeo/DailyMotion (at this point in time). I decided to just make those highlights their own special video, since it would be sad to see a broken-down Campbell alongside clips of the Tyler Rose in his prime.
So within the next few weeks, you see one of my usual 10-minute videos highlighting the Earl Campbell everyone remembers in Houston. But for now, you'll have to make due with this 50 second montage of Campbell still throwing out a semi-mean stiff-arm.

Just keep 'em coming bro as you're led to💪👍
To be honest dude these highlights could have been added to the Oiler ones. The part where he pulls his hamstring and gets the ball hit out of his arms from behind can be cut. I liked the saints as well but anyways great 👍 job
@@Sldumas1983 I seriously considered just adding them to the Oilers one. But I also thought that if someone searched for "Earl Campbell saints highlights," then this video would pop up, and they wouldn't have to sit through or skip to the Saint section of a longer video.
PockyCandy hey your doing one hell of a job man keep it up
Earl was my favorite all time player.
I remember watching him after he was traded to the Saints and I remember watching one afternoon and he was running great looking about like he did in Houston.
Poor Earl though on that last play.
Early Earl would never get caught from behind.
I think that's the play Bum said they booed him and he'd never been booed before.
Earl was a beast of a player but a class act all the way as a player a man and a person.
He pulled his hamstring on that run against the Falcons in the Dome. I was at that one!
Thats when he realized it was time to hang them up. he'd never been caught from behind before. legend
I would love a video on Reggie white in philly
Good to see these clips; it confirms sadly, what a mistake it was to trade for Campbell, who was clearly on the decline by then as seen here. That last play with the ball taken out of his hands was a perfect example of that, he said that himself
I had no clue. Thank you PockyCandy.
I kind of wish I didn't know about Campbell's Saints stint after seeing how much he'd declined (I also looked at some actual games from 1985). But thanks for enjoying the video! You're probably going to really enjoy the Earl Campbell video, and the Walter Payton vid (whenever I can get around to finishing it).
Great stuff Pocky..
That last plays I use to always see that on the NFL Bloopers on VHS the Oilers Campbell would of score with ease and not get caught..
Yeah, that last play was hard to watch. A few years earlier, he would've breezed into the end-zone. I believe that was the last carry of his career too.
@@PockyCandy you got to be kidden me if that was his last carry..
You should do a compilation of RB at the end of they career with other team highlights..
I think LT & Emmit would be the best..
@@38kal I don't think I want to do that. Watching LT play for the Jets at the end of his career was sad enough. I don't want to relive it lol.
Anyway, compilation videos like that aren't really my thing. I feel like Highlight Heaven or a channel such as that would be the better-suited to making that kind of video.
If you have suggestions for a single-player highlight video you would like to see, I'm all ears though.
@@PockyCandy Herschel Walker NFL highlights would be dope!
FYI: my 1st video i watched of yours was E. James
Miami Canes highlights such a great back and very underrated..
@@38kal I'll look into Herschel Walker highlights. I've already done his college and USFL highlights, so I might as well complete the triforce and do his NFL ones too.
And wow, that was, what, four years ago? James' is one of the videos I could stand to re-do, since his complete career is now available on CZcams in the form of full games.
This video is as short as the saints in the playoffs this year
...and when you finally make the Johnny Johnson vid, the background music should be "Walk of Life" by Dire Straits! (for nostalgia purposes)
Infact Poc, You gotta promise me to have "Walk of Life" by Dire Straits in the back ground of the Johnny Johnson tribute video...hit me back. I wanna hear it from u! ~TBK (p.s. Just have stills and backfield stance shots until the drums hit, then BAMM!!!!!!!!!! The runs start.
Can u do Eric Bienemy and Tim Biakabatuka?
That last play needs to be deleted from historical record out of respect.
Actually I think it's good to include it; it really explains sadly, what are huge mistake it was to trade for Campbell and why he retired so quickly
@@hardcorehouse he was running on fumes
There were bits of what he was left but his body just couldn’t handle it anymore and looking at what happened as the years have passed it really shows the damage
So.....you can make a short vid like this, but can't make a short for Johnny Johnson??! C'Mon MAN! Your video career won't be complete till you do!!! ~TBK
I'm saving that for the anniversary of this channel.
@@PockyCandy You better be!
Bruh do a oilers he not even good with the saints
