  • At his peak, there was no greater power runner than the Tyler Rose. With legs bigger than most tree trunks, he could not be tackled by a single defender. Earl Campbell won a trio of MVPs (only one "official one") and as many Offensive Player of the Year awards and rushing titles in his first three years with the Oilers.
All video and audio are property of their respective owners and the NFL. I just enjoy making highlight videos.
Video was taken from Kevin Reidy's now-defunct channel and Sports Odyssey. Music was found on Dave Volsky's channel.

Why do these people use the most annoying background music? It's like they don't want you to watch. Sheesh.

I remember watching local sports back when I was in middle school. Arlington Heights was playing John Tyler in the playoffs. The only reason I remember this is because Earl was playing for John Tyler and would drag half the Heights defense into the endzone with him. He was a man among boys.

When Tony Dorsett threatened Jim Brown's rushing records, Brown threatened to come out of retirement. When Earl got close, Brown stayed quiet

If you consider the blocking rules favored the D then it very amazing. He was feared and my goat at rb and I'm from Baltimore.

Notice the distinct lack of end zone celebrations. Earl generally looked exhausted after he crossed the goal line. Then he would be back destroying the defense the next time the Oilers got the ball. He personally wore out defenses. His college highlight reels are fun, too. One of my favorite plays from when Earl was a Longhorn is when he knocked a Rice defender up in the air and ran almost upright under him.
