Classic Tailback - Walter Payton - Jackson State Highlights

- Walter Payton, known by many as "Sweetness," ran like few tailbacks have during his four years at Jackson State. There have been bigger and faster players at the position, but I don't know if I've seen a player run with as much reckless abandon as Payton.

My Childhood hero Sweetness. Thank you Pocky! You've done it again!
I made this one for you! You've been requesting a Payton video for the longest time, and I finally got around to making it. Feel free to share it on social media and all that good stuff too!
@@PockyCandy Hahaha my dude PockyCandy. In such tough & uncertain times you just made my life that much sweeter. Always thank you my brotha!

@@PockyCandy Can you find footage of JSU WRs Jimmy Smith&Sylvester Morris!!!!!
The best running back to ever play the game, sweetness Walter Payton.
This has to make it's way into every football fan's life immediately. Great work!
We will miss you Walter
We have BEEN missing him. He has sadly been gone for more than 2 decades now...
As a loyal bears fan, and fan of Walter thank you for this upload!!! It's insane to me just how fast he ran in college, and knowing where to be, knowing when to cut back. Walter had the speed of a world class sprinter. Awesome college highlights!!!
Pocket Candy!!! Thee Legend!!! Sweetness footage had to be hard to get!! Thank you as always my man!!! Again you seem to be one of the few that knows there can be beauty in a 5 yd run when done right!!!!
Grew up a Cardinals fan, I remember his rookie year at Chicago, I was 9, that’s what I wanted to be when I grew up after that. Had the privilege of meeting him my Jr. year of high school, just an awesome human being is all I can say.
I ain’t never seen Walter Payton highlights from Jackson State. He is one of the greatest running backs to ever play football.🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
Walter Payton is a complete beast.
Amazing as always! This footage is almost like someone finding video of Sugar Ray Robinson as a welterweight. Props to you, sir.
Wow Amazing.. My Childhood Hero.. PockyCandy you have out did yourself on this one 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Sweetness was my hero also, always wore #34 when I played football.
love the music to Sweetness
Amazing footage! Thank you for this!!!
Sweetness!! One of the best ever!;) RIP
GOAT
That tune was good but Sweetness was great. #34 forever baby!
The Greatest!!!🙏👍🏈
Thank you💪🏿💪🏿
Excellent job with the video!
What a great yet sad story. Why must the people that lead us with such class always leave us sad alone to try to emulate the impossible.
The first tackler just wasn't bringing him down.
Longtime subscriber BreuckelensFinest has been requesting a Walter Payton video for years, so here it is!
While Payton had the talent to play for any college in the SEC, the South was still only a few years removed from segregation. Because of this, neither Mississippi State nor Ole Miss offered Payton a scholarship. That Jackson State team was still loaded with talent though, as his teammates included HoF tackle Jackie Slater and All-Pro Robert Brazille while he played Tigers.
As always, I hope you enjoy this video, and let me know what player you would like to see next!
And yes, I'm still waiting for COVID-19 to go away. Everyone needs to wash their hands, listen to health experts, watch your local news and read your local newspapers, and be smart.
Thank you!!!
@@PockyCandy Once again thank you with all of my heart & soul!
You're right @@PockyCandy . Thanks.
PockyCandy can we get a Steven Jackson from Oregon state?💯🔥🙌🏾
This video was sick! Nice intro 👍
Thanks! Finding even these highlights were difficult, so I'm glad the end result turned out to be watchable.
U R 'sick'.
How could SEC schools pass on him and Jerry rice that’s crazy as hell🥶🤣
AGREED SMDH
Never underestimate the power of racism.
I'm from Mississippi we are so happy proud they played for our people institutions
He didn't need to go to no SEC school, hbcus have the best talent

GOAT!!!🙏🏈💪👍😎
I just bought his college jersey I was young when he played in the NFL
The great
Picky, great work on this video. How can someone find full game films of Jackson State and Payton from this time period?
Never knew Walter Payton went to a HBCU WOW
WP score 6 TD against my school Lane College in 1974 😂
You should do levon kirkland clemson highlights
Who's the blues guitarist? Please credit them
I found the music on CZcams's copyright free audio library. You're right though, I should credit them.
@@PockyCandy interesting enough, from what I could figure out this was taken from music that is not copyrighted by a Chinese artist ( I use that term loosely, thief is more fitting) that takes Creative Commons music and Market's it as his own for profit.
@@toms.2551 I found the link to the music and credited the artist in the description box.

@@PockyCandy awesome dude! Thanks!
I bet this is all rare footage
Yup. finding video of Payton at JSU is extremely difficult.
@@PockyCandy I still can't believe that you actually found it. The vintage look of the video was mindboggling. 👍
thank the fb gods that playing vs these inferior teams didn't diminish his skills (or did it??)
Inferior? Those HBCU's could have beaten any of those so call top tier time in the early 70's.. You don't know history do you?
The team with red pants an yellow jersey…they got the ugliest uni ever and they gotta try to tackle Walter
That's Grambling State
Wtf is this music
It's the blues.
