There was a story just the other day about Moroccan strawberries that had been watered with sewage - with the inevitable consequences. Morocco has even bigger water problems than Spain and lower health (pesticide, etc) standards. So, no, I don't want to see more food from Morocco, rather I want to see less food from Morocco in the Spanish food supply.

Stuart the use of Moroccan lorry drivers may have a more sinister intent. Foreign drivers tend not to stage protests. With Spain's youth unemployment, it is "curious" that the government is not willing to pay to train them as lorry drivers. It makes no sense unless there are other motives. I hope the labor unions in Spain protest this attempt to undermine Spain's transportation. Cheers, Rob

Norway has found a stonking great phosphate seam near Stavanger, 70,000,000,000 tonnes and it could supply 50% of the World's needs, whilst Morocco currently has 43% of the World accessible phosphate deposits. Seems like Norway will undermine Morocco's advantages.

Hello all. In regards to “the market of…”, such positions hinge on water supply and rich soil as it that determines the growth. Truck and bus drivers from morocco because of a shortage? Is the field dominated by low pay? I would guess just like the late night restaurants and bars there are bad business practices that also go on. Immigrants will accept lower pay scales, but as they matriculate into society, they’ll realize a need for higher incomes too.

Hi Stuart. Don't think that crossing the land borders to France and Portugal by car goes unnoticed. The Spanish authorities can check your debit and credit card activities when outside Spain. You'll need to buy things in those countries and as soon as you complete a transaction the audit trail has begun.
The same applies to non-EU citizens who overstay their 90 day stay in Spain and non-resident EU citizens who overstay their 183 day stay.
We should never under estimate the extent to which Schengen area countries communicate with each other. If you play by the rules then there's nothing to worry about.

In order to up the salaries, you need to create more wealth. To create more wealth, workers need to be more productive. There's a direct relationship between worker productivity and salary. When Spanish workers's productivity will reach that of other European countries, the salaries will follow. Politicians CAN NOT create wealth by simply mandating higher salaries. They can only do harm by doing this as workers whose salaries are higher than what they bring to the company will loose their jobs.

@@paulfreeman1778 The profit margin is usually pretty low in most businesses. This is quite a popular response to think that the greedy capitalist is taking everything and leaving pennies to the workers. If this is the case then why are not every employers taking as much as Spanish employers and leaving them with nit a whole lot? After all, greed has no limits and exists everywhere right? American workers get paid more than Spanish workers and are more capitalist and "almost socialist" France workers get paid more than Spanish workers. There's no correlation...
