- Spain update and with the Balearic Islands cracking down on street drinking, the fact of the matter is that it has been illegal to drink alcohol on public streets in Spain since 1992.

This topic of public drinking and purchasing alcohol is interesting. You mentioned the difference between States in the US, but there are even differences between counties. Ohio, where I am from, for example, has "dry" counties where you can't even buy alcohol. It's prohibition laws that are still in place.
Here in nyc, thereâs no drinking on the streets including no drinking on your own front property as long as the public can see you. But, cafes with sidewalk tables drinks are allowed. Mixed enforcements.
Luv Spain but the political division and bureaucracy are simply overwhelming
I think that the problem is back in the 1970's and '80's we were dirt poor, but didn't KNOW it. No handheld media to reinforce what we didn't have, or made to think we couldn't do without. Lucky if we had a friend with a car. Lucky if we could afford fuel for the oil burner stove in winter. But it also was a time you could quit one job for another, better job. Though we always had beer and weed money. Go figure. And a trip was to the public park. Times are sure different.
Interesting. What country are you talking about buddy?

Castelldefels es un pueblo muy grande con una playa magnifica, puerto deportivo enorme , un castillo. Lugar de residencia de muchos deportistas a 23km de Barcelona .
Hi stu. Retirees being the highest income group, is that report based on pensions the spanish government is paying out or is it all pensions including expats with foreign country incomes? Foreign income would not drain the spanish national wealth.
In virtually the same breath you mention the spanish govt refusing to acknowledge cataluna independence, and itâs territorial claims on Gibraltar. Well, if they wish to unpick the treaty of Utrecht they canât be selective: gaining Gibraltar means losing cataluna. It also means surrendering the colonies of melilla and ceuta to morocco under the same conditions they claim ownership of gib.
Ceuta belongs to Portugal, they took it in 1415, look at SĂŁo Bento Station in Porto for fantastic tiles (azulejos) showing the scene.

Those comments yesterday were very true young people pay into more monthly subscriptions the internet or mobile phone maybe Netflix or insurance for the dog or cat đ
If Spain were negotiating honestly about the wonderful low-tax jurisdiction on its southern border that economically shows up the neighbouring area, the simple answer is for 'planes to land at the airport for Spain and pay a landing fee etc. but taxy to a terminal built over the Spanish border and take it from there. No 'camel's nose' in the tent and all can be happy.
In Catalunya theres ALWAYS some campaign election going on.
On and on about excess drinking by tourists. Well, who is profiting by this behaviour? Not the tourists. And it doesnât happen in dubaiâŠâŠ..
Scones in Devon stu irs easy to get a good scone in Barcelona
Spanish bureaucracy seems rather small minded and petty power plays. Is that just an opinion because of what is reported in the news? Since the news is often driven by sensationalism.
With socialism goverment, its impossible to derermine if the goverment is corrupt. Hence why he is still in power after being caught up in capitslism and umeployement is still high.
Botellon!
On a visit to Barcelona in 2019, my friend purchased wine and beer from a convenience store at about midnight. The store was on a street just off the top end of La Rambla. But the store owner refused to hand over the bag of alcohol in the store. He walked with us to an alleyway to hand over the bag. We were also approached by drug dealers and prostitutes. On a trip to Seville, the "white rabbit" was easily purchased in the clubs. Drugs are offered openly on the streets of Benidorm and Ibiza late at night. The Spanish police do nothing about drugs and street drinking. Probably because they are paid off by the Mafia. The Mafia operate all along the Med from Spain to France and Italy. They are into everything from distributing fake olive oil to human trafficking and avoiding duties on imported apparel through Naples. For the Germans, drinking alcohol on the street is considered a human right. Several German towns tried to ban it but the German judges decided against them.
The land where the Gibraltar Airport is located is outside what was conceded in the Treaty of Utrecht. We've never had a problem with that. The isle of Perejil perhaps has more surfice. The idea of sharing the airport merits attention. It may benefit everyone and would be fair.
Define "we". Lots of locals do have issues with it. And while it's a risky bet, I'm going to go on a limb here and say that you don't live in that area. So no, it won't "benefit everyone". Just mass tourism having yet another place where they'll ravage Spain and let's not forget about the starving airlines who will see their profits soaring. The reason Spain and other countries are going to s**t is because of simpleton opinions like these, who get to vote in Spain. Well done.
@@youssef16844 "We", Spaniards as me, or I. My English is not the better. We don't care of the airport, I mean Spanish like me and the average British. Gibraltarians and Llanitos do. I don't live in that aera but don't know it bad.
@@joseantoniodavila2752 Ok, but you understand English enough to know the difference between location A, i.e. near that airport, and location B, i.e. not near that airport. Guess where you live. But yeah, of course it would "benefit everyone" from your location. What a joke.
Spanish pensions is 3k a month? Not being able to pay the higher rents, seems 3k makes it affordable. Whoâs complaining, the 12% unemployed?
IÂŽm stunned...in 2022, the average Spanish pension through Social Security was something like 1254 euros a month and that is the high end. Most can only dream of 3k retired or not.
