    Crowded beaches and beer is what I avoid in Spain. I love the "vast" interior (in the European scale of distances) and the northern side. I think Spain is ranked the 5th country in the world by UNESCO' Worlds Heritage Sites (Italy is first with 59 and Spain has 50 as Stuart said). On top of that I would add a good diversity of other things as local languages, climates, natural parks, landscapes, traditions, gastronomy, etc. I would like Spain to rank higher in education, innovation, technology, salaries, labour market, business friendliness (less red tape), but...

    I am with José Antonio, Gibraltar airport was built in an area that was not in the Treaty; it was lent to accommodate ill people during an outbreak in Gibraltar: in 1815, Gibraltar suffered a yellow fever epidemic. This led to a Spanish concession so a temporary quarantine health camp could be built on the isthmus (where the airport is today), but it was never given back to Spain. Also, the Treaty does not recognise sovereign waters around Gibraltar. Nevertheless, other big problem is that today Brexit makes things more complicated regarding border controls. Many Spaniards work in Gibraltar and it is an issue for both sides.

    I spent a total of 7 years in Spain and only about 3 days on a beach. Lots of beautiful sites to see such as villages, castles, monasteries, museums and natural places with waterfalls etc. I also did the Camino de Santiago. Still after all that time visiting there are many more places on my bucket list.

    I have some friends from San Roque who learned English with the help of Gibraltar TV, chiefly from a cooking show called "Pepe's Pot." Sometimes that show mixed up Spanish and English even in the same sentence. Spanish with the strong llanito accent and perfect British English. The children lost respect for English watching that TV program. There are still some videos on CZcams. Look up "Pepe's Pot with Vanessa" if you want to laugh a little and learn a new recipe

    Hola Stu, greetings from Germany - so please forgive me my bias towards beer ;)
    Favourite beers in/from Germany are Augustiner (from Munich) and of course the Franconian lagers around Bamberg like Huppendorfer and Mönchsambacher.
    Whenever I'm in Barcelona you can't go wrong with a fine cold Moritz.

    • @joseantoniodavila2752
      @joseantoniodavila2752 Pƙed 13 dny +2

      I know and like Augustiner and Moritz but don't even try to pronounce the others. An uncle of mine spent half his life in Germany, so he was all about German beer over the Spanish one. Same goes for me eventhough I've never been to Germany. Once my uncle told the joke that Spanish beer is like having sex on boat, and he used to say that the beer belly you get from German brews is a happier one, cause when a German laughs, his belly jiggles along like it's laughing too. At least his did.

      I thought the saying about making love on boat and beer applies only to American beers 😁
      And I think the Spanish beers have improved over the years. The bigger ones (Estrella Damm/Galicia or San Miguel) oftentimes can be found in German supermarkets. The first ones are quite decent, I would prefer them over most of the major breweries here. But if you ever come to Germany go to Bamberg and search for those beers from above. People will know 😉

I'm not surprised really it's probably because they are not selling along with the fact that the majority you mentioned are all unhealthy. I certainly would not touch any of those oils with a barge pole. Thanks for the update.

      Same in Spain. Some close friends of mine work for that witch brewing industry, one of them my brother. The Mexican Coronita is brewed in Azuqueca de Henares, Heineken is not far North and Guiness bought Cruzcampo in the 90's and paid an insane amount of money. 100.000 millones de pesetas. I can translate it to English but not to euros. Probably Cruzcampo is not longer owned by Guiness but by a Chinese company, who know sand who cares.

    Travel expert has warned that Spain's tourism industry could suffer because of massive rises in the cost of flights from other EU countries and the UK.
    Speaking about the reported 42 percent rise in the cost of flights to Spain, Roma Andreu explained why airlines were raising their prices and the impact this would have.
    He said that the price rises from budget airlines would "depend on supply and demand". He added that several factors such as the price of fuel and higher operating costs were forcing airlines to increase prices.
    At the same time new laws in Spain over travel could kill Spain’s holiday trade.
