I heard Toto Wolff wants foot twisting to be banned in F1.
I think it's Max's DAS. Foot activated!
"The FIA anounced that drivers now have to use cycling-style clip-in shoes and pedals in order to prevent their feet from twisting for driver's safetly."
Actually, I wonder whether this could be a good idea...
@@QwoaX Pointless and dangerous :)
Dead meme
F1 fans are cringe lol
Bizarre, but effective
I do the same thing on my sim pedals. Pretty sure this is just like when you jiggle the stick shift in a car to make sure it’s neutral. It’s a habit for some but not all. It’s basically the foot version of adjusting your hand position of the steering wheel
I do the foot thing even when daily driving makes consistent smoothness. I constantly adjust my hands to whether or not it has any effect on performance I just do it by habit.
Safe and effective.
And he somehow still does it with a cramp
Checo also does it. Big deal.
I do the EXACT same thing. So surely I’m 3 time world champ material then 😅
I can feel the Max Verstappen coming inside of me.
I do it too, idk why
Mate what?@@ashiagefa646
I really do too though on iracing. It’s almost like trying to press it harder but also just like repositioning your foot on the pedal because that’s the only time the pedal is staying still
Maybe 2 time
Bottom hinged pedals drag your foot forward as you accelerate. Gotta shimmy to reset the heal position.
this
This person gets it
This is it and even on a +100hp consumer car you can do this to smooth out the very first tenths of a second of the acceleration. It replaces reflex with experience.
@@ibrachaka8727not sure that’s the same
I do this on my sim pedals, they're bottom mounted so it makes sense!
Max is a robot. This is just his programming. 😅
thats what happens when you drive literally everyday, unlike lewis who hates sim racing,
@@theshanamaster I agree 100% I’ve tried to tell people this and they say the sim is just a game. Regardless it’s still a form of practice and Max practices everyday.
If sims are just a game, then why now you're required to clock hundreds of ours in the sim before you can get a flying license. Sims have been able to model reality fairly accurately right now, only old-fashioned stubborn people would pretend they are good for nothing. It's like sticking to a type-writer while full on laptops with start of the art text editors are available right now . @@EverythingSim
@@theshanamastersim racing like in Cars 3
Can confirm this is just Max re-zeroing his foot axis after full throttle.
It also makes 100% sure he’s fully planted his foot at the end of the pedal travel and there’s no wiggle room left at end of the throttle cable.
Probably mattered more in lower racing categories.
Also gives a bit of a flex to avoid leg cramps setting in during a long race.
thought exactly the same
This. When modulating you strain your foot more, so you reposition it for comfort and fatigue when you're at 100.
Drive by wire though... It's not 1986
@@lukebrommage2420 Lots of racing vehicles use mechanical throttle
@lukebrommage2420 its instinct. Its why he's consistent, he does what he knows.
He does it to summon the driving gods 😂 because we all know max is some sort of witch 🧙
Witches mess up all the time. Naive little kids, random mining dwarfs and innocent princesses take witches for walks all the time.
Max, seems to have done to messing up and off-weekend what I've done to alcohol consumption.
@@Cloxxki you’ve edited your comment and still made absolutely zero sense
@@marklyons8430 Not sure it was an edit, I have multiple comments here. I was born with a high IQ (5th percentile or so), it's absolutely no shame if you can't keep up with me. It is a shame if you presume the error is always with the other person rather than yourself 😉

Genie in the bottle: I shall grant one wish
19 F1 drivers: I want to be as fast as I can possibly be.
Genie: You asked that last time, you're as fast as you'll ever be
The 19: Max, what are you asking?
Max: I want to get rid of on track mistakes.
The 19: Ohw shhh....
he just pushes the pedal to 110% power :D
I do that in my Mazda as well. I like knowing my foot is exactly in the middle, especially when I move from brake to accelerator.
what Mazda did you use, just curious
I Used to drive a 90s capella
I do this when im driving. I do it to stretch my ankle.
I was thinking the same thing. Also when I'm working out my calf muscles
@@Villani_AV just had to mention you worked out didnt you lol
I have the same reflex.
Congrats Champ!!!😂
Mee too when driving sim in socks.
Me too, but I’m too slow haha
He is trying to heel and toe, obviously
Yes in the Netherlands the clutch is on the right.
Yeah, heel and toe while youre already full down on the accelerator, changing UP the gears in a car that has a flappy paddle gearbox that rev matches for you in the blink of an eye.
I hope that was sarcasm.
@@slickstringsit very much was sarcasm and the fact you still went on a rant is wild 😂
KANSEI DORIFTO?!?
It's a re-adjustment of his foot. When I first tried sim racing I realised I kept slipping my foot upwards at max trottle to have the ball of my foot where it felt more confortable. It could be a habbit he brought with him from karting.
Interesting video. Now I'm curious on what other weird habits other drivers have
Rene Rast tends to plant his left foot on top of his right foot when accelerating to make sure he's full throttle. Won three DTM titles in four years, so there's something to it, I guess.
@@Photatumthis is "pres the acceleration button on your playstation stick to go faster" type of shiz, but hey if it works, it works
I usually put my foot on the throttle then my foot instinctively slips off then my thumb instinctively reaches for the flashback button.
I do that when I'm asleep 😂
i do this, too. but i do it when i want to adjust my foot on the pedal, while applying pressure.
It all about feeling everything and first your machine, max connect with the car.
I am a Lewis fan, but from now on I will start twitching my foot whenever I am sim racing 😂
Why do F1 fans always need to start every comment with "I'm a Max/Lewis fan, but..."
@@grzybowy1680 because they are the most popular ones??? 🤷
@@grzybowy1680*some. Its a fanboi trait.
I do the same thing. But it's actually to bring the feet down to the floor. Because from the extreme rear set position, the feet gradually floats off into the air while we press the pedal. We can fine control the throttle only if there is support on our heels. Or else the feet can slide on the pedal due to the small undulations on the track.
Something similar happens in a motorcycle as well. The motorcycles with end support helps us to lock into the same throttle position even if the motorcycle moves over a pothole.
This is like Honda drivers pinning themselves in their seat when vtec kicks in yo
I do that as well when driving normal, for comfort
It makes sense the sensitivity increases. I could see myself subconsciously doing that.
He is just activating the super boost!
I been doing it too since 2018. My rig basically shakes itself to oblivion but i can't afford a new one for some time now.
We can rebuild it.. we can make it faster, stronger, better.. we have the technology!
I do the exact same thing. I just never been conscious of it till now
Whilst he is doing it he is thinking “I really wish I could grow a proper moustache”
I do track day sometime and i always do that in full throttle for the same reason. Gotta make sure it stays you know
i do it to because some times it just don't feel right and you got to make sure you get comfortable on the pedal.
I kind of do the same thing in road cars, especially when I’m trying to precisely squeeze the throttle. It’s great to see that Max has developed the same habit 😅
Devs left that glitch there so he could pass the Turing test
i also do it when driving lol
That aint weird. I do that too while driving my corolla
I think he forgets that its left foot breaking and remembers suddenly 😂
I do this every day during driving since so many years 😂
Bro I genuinely didn’t think anyone else did it. One day I just kinda randomly started and I still do it
I’ve always done this in my rally car, it helps to reposition your foot on the pedal without breaking contact if you’re still applying it
When you do grand prix racing on day
But touge during night😂😂😂
I noticed this first in one of RedBull's videos
Finally. Some real fucking insight into driver style.
No way, I do that. I saw Max do it on one of the virtual laps and thought it must be normal.
The crazy thing is I JUST noticed this too an hour before seeing this video.
Alright i dont feel so bad for doing this either all the time.
The twitch is the urge to crash into someone
the karting one was literally just the cornering force moving his foot outward
i also do this but in my honda 🤣
He making his foot comfortable 😊
That twitch is similar to blipping the throttle under braking in the old pedal system with the clutch, brake, and throttle pedals
Just the vestigial heel-and-toe from his early days as an undercover rally driver.
I do the same thing when I’m on the highway and my foots sliding off. I’m not gonna let off so I just slide it over
Heel & Toe is a hard habit to break! I still do it driving to the shops.
I do that too ^__^ coming from skating, it's basically the same as when you're about to pop a trick and you do a little wiggle to get your foot pressed in on the tail right where you want it
That's how to get 10 Wins in a ROW
Nudging the throttle cable for that bit extra when the peddle is on the stop 😅
That´s like riding a skateboard... Before you start a trick or switch the position of your foot from building up speed to rest (or vice versa), you do a little twitch without even noticing it
I do the same thing on track in my cars. Nice little reset.
Thought this was very normal tbh, I do the exact same thing when i drive but with clutch pedal and sometimes the brake but very rarely as i use the auto-hold thing so I come off the brake. I do it with the accelarator all the time when playing a sim since thats only scenario i can have a flat accelerator pedal lol
I do that in my Mini Cooper which has a bottom hinged accelerator. Essentially, repositioning my heel so that I’m more comfortable with my foot extended forward
Thats what drummers do with their double bass pedals when going super fast 😂
I have fallen of the pedal before so I’ll try this next time I’m karting
It is to lock the knee joint after a turn to go full throttle, to lock the leg in position It is a biomechanical lever to keep the gas open 100% at the proper time
I was karting yesterday, just for fun, and this exact thing happened me twice, once i almost completely stopped cuz my foot slipped right off the pedal
I do that when I drive so I'm basically max verstappen
i thought he was heel toeing in an f1 car for a sec
Max level of concentration off the scale
If you watch Sebastian Loeb in the 2010s he always arches his left foot before resting it back on the dead pedal.
I sometimes catch myself doing that lmao
That near-perfect loop though.
Do this in the sim all the time. I guess I am Max Verstappen. 😁
He’s using his big toe for extra precision in throttle application. He’s THAT good
He’s just making sure he has good contact with the throttle and has 100% contact at all times.
I actually do the same thing in my road cars. I figured it was a natural way of making sure your feet are in the right spot without looking
Exactly.
"He's just like me fr"
I actually do this as well in the sim, once you’re flat it’s time to readjust.
I love learning the small habits of drivers, lile Hamilton covering the trigger to gear down when he's starting a race
He does something weird with the steering too, he’s impossible to beat
Either that or he just has a magnet that pulls him towards other cars 😂
Its kind of like how some skateboarders twitch their feet before doing flip tricks.
It’s kinda like bracing your core before squatting or deadlifting. You’re just trying to get as much stability as possible so you can have as much control as possible.
Dude is "twitch"ing irl
I do similar things unconsciously on my track bike that i don't even realise until i look back at the recording i made later on
Memories from being overtaken due to not accelerating full throttle (I can relate)
It’s like how skateboarders constantly shift their feet to gain confidence in their placement
The man is a racing robot. Surely just a bug in the code 😂
Yeah I always thought it was to make sure his foot is on the center of the pedal or something.
I do that when driving on the road to make sure my foot is planted on the pedal
Never realized it but I do it while driving and while riding my enduro. I rotate my inside foot while in a corner to check distance from the road
I literally do this when I do sim racing
I do the same thing. It's a little readjustment to make sure the ball of the foot stays where tou want it.
Im proud to acknowledge this because i did the same...
Especially on cheap rental kart where the throttle linkage have alot of slack...
Just to make sure... Ive used everything the kart or cars offer on the tap 😂
I drive a semi truck for a living and ive done that too, but i have restless leg syndrome and it helps me stabilize my foot for acceleration
He’s lowering his toes 😂
I do the same thing in my Honda RedBull Jazz 😂
Im doing that too, just wanna make sure that im step in right in the center of pedal.
I do the exact same thing. It's literally just a tic to reset the foot position on the pedal.
I do this when normally driving lol. It's just readjusting your foot 😂
He really looks like Mister Bean 😂😂😂😂
He wants to feel the pedal at the right place on his foot knowing he can claw his toes to get more pedal grip
It's actually very common. adjusting the foot constantly
I do this aswell (obviously not at the same scale) but its to feel where the edge of the pedal is so his foot doesnt come off the throttle
i do this alot, i just am repositioning my foot on the pedal for more comfortable feel. would make sense in an f1 car
