In 1916, during a stormy night, Helen, a mute servant to an ailing matiarch is stalked by a shadowy serial killer targeting women with "afflictions". Helen fears the glares of prying male eyes in the corners of the house and the lurking shadows. The matriarch implores her to leave the mansion before its too late.
