Overload if you're not a star wars fan then you shouldn't be giving acolyte the benefit of the doubt. You wouldn't be interested in the third game installment of jedi survivor. It's going to be a mistake. I do not care if it's good,if they screw up you need to go to a different brand and leave lucasfilm behind FOREVER!
Stop shilling for JJ, The Force Awakens was a soulless rip off of ANH
Shilling for JJ? I literally rip Episode 9 a new one and say its the worst of the 3. Interesting by you.
@movieoverload You said TFA was well recieved by all. Trust I know many including myself saw that as an awful movie and soulless rip off
Because it literally was well received. Dunno where you were in 2015 but it couldn’t have been Earth. Things have changed now with the benefit of hindsight but that doesn’t change what the sentiment was back then.
It's absolutely insane that they didn't have a plan for the sequels. Anyone in their right mind would fire everyone who approved it to be made that way. Billions of dollars and these people just wing it. Incredible mix of arrogance and idiocy
I just can't work out why the even went ahead with a trilogy and not have an overall plan.. like that is incredible stupid!!!
Although TBF Lucas did not have a plan for the OT nor the PT
@@thibaud1832 Lucas didn’t have a plan during the production of the first SW movie because he wasn’t expecting it to be such a huge success. When he began the process of creating the second SW film is when he decided to come up with the third film and the concept for the entire prequel trilogy.
@@thibaud1832You can’t really make that comparison effectively. One person created the actual universe. The other needed to work within the existing universe.

You’re being WAY to kind towards this shitty Disney trilogy. And this isn’t Star Wars, it’s DISNEY Star Wars.
Damn straight brother!
Nah, you're still giving it too much credit- it's high end fan fiction, stuff that belongs on Patreon or a free YT channel- I get what you're saying though, I'm just hyperbole-ing a bit :P
They should’ve called the Disney trilogy ‘Folks in Space’ 😂 Disney needs to do their own D grade sci fi and leave Star Wars out of it. The problem is they won’t make any money and they know it

I’m 48 years old when I was two years old the first movie I ever went to my parents took me to see the original Star Wars in 1977. I am too young to remember that so obviously I’ve seen it many times since then I remember when the Empire back came out, my dad took me eight times to see it because I loved it so much when I was a kid. And so on and so on. when Disney first got Star Wars, I was extremely excited about it being that I have been a lifelong fan. I liked the force awakens and I loved Rogue One. Then The last Jedi came out, I walked out of the theater about halfway through that’s when Star Wars died for me. Star Wars ended in 2005 with the revenge of the sith.
Spoken like a true fan.😢🤟🏾🫡
SW is glorified fast food now. While stuff like Andor is chicken salad with dressing. A show that was made lucky. While everything else was lucky to be made. And that's all coming from a modern SW neutralist and apologist. Make that what you will.
That's rough buddy
@@LuisSierra42 I...I understood that reference.
Calling modern Star Wars glorified fast food is insulting to fast food
Andor is bad Star Wars. It doesn't feel as a in-universe link to Star Wars. It's an ok-ish good sci-fi series, but it doesn't feel as a Star Wars at all. The only good Star Wars that came under Disney, movies/series/animations are: Rogue One/season 1 of Mandalorian/Rebels and last season of the Clone Wars, even if it was a changed animation, it still felt like Star Wars. The rest are not even good as sci-fi movies, series or animations, they are just bad.
Chicken salad with dressing slaps
Why did they keep on hiring people who didn't like or didn't know Star Wars? Seems like a really weird decision.
At the very least they could have been like "If you want the job, LEARN."
Disney have done what they did because they wanted to destroy a bastion of popular culture. It is the only thing that makes any sense of all this; coupled with how they are paid directly (but in a round-about way) by Blackrock who also force them to adhere to shitty DEI stuff. The "little hats people" at the top of this chain hate for westerners to have any hero's that are white; or seemingly anything good and wholesome. Star Wars, Star Trek, Indiana J, Marvel, so many more with Dr Who and Warhammer40k the most recent... Change my mind, please change my mind. Tell me what I've seen happening over the last 14yrs or so is only in my mind and that decent stories and good vs bad entertainment disappearing is only due to myself getting older and grumpy (only 40yrs young btw)
@@Avian-24nope, you’re right. It’s a Demoralization Campaign against White Men.
@@Avian-24
They didn’t want to destroy it, that’s just a byproduct of poor decision making.
Disney wanted to make money and make it right away off of Star Wars. Instead of planning out what was going to happen they just went… We got Star Wars let’s start printing money!
They thought, Star Wars fans will just come to the movies and start throwing money at us, and we’ll make minor modern changes to things that will attract new fans as well.
They didn’t do their research and just started pushing product out in an attempt to make their millions back as quickly as possible.
Then, on top of that, they have a bunch of higher-ups that seem to want to push a certain agenda with the movies and how they are produced, and who directs them rather than just tell good stories.
They were handed the keys to a Ferrari and told don’t wreck it, and the first thing they did was go out for it and burn out the engine.
It's all about checking boxes for them, actual talent comes in a far second.
But you would think that those who are hired and know nothing WOULD TRY to learn
@@kylebeggs3845They wanted to appease all audiences. But we all know it’s for the people and they don’t really care about minorities and the LGBTQNFL community. It’s actually even MORE evil that they pretend to care by just stuffing black and Asians actors in our faces with only ill intent. It’s just a shit show with the world now, it’s just woke bs. We can have a good story without a gay man or trans being shoved in our face or men being shoved to the side to push female power, like the “the force is female”. I’m certain though, if the last Jedi never came out and they kept JJ abrams then it would’ve been even better.
Just considering the sequels alone, Kathleen Kennedy has cost this studio (at least) *$1B* in lost profits.. and that doesn't even take into account all the terrible TV shows, the Solo movie (the biggest SW flop, so far), merchandising, the failed hotel, Galaxy's Edge, etc
Her still being gainfully employed is one of the most baffling business decisions in the 21st century
AND like you say, that's just "considering the sequels alone." If we factor in another 2 Franchises under Lucasfilm - Willow and Indiana Jones that Kathy Kennedy has also completely destroyed.
IDK, I would say that in the Case of Indiana Jones, there wasn’t that much hype left in it. I just didn’t care for much with the end of Indy 4. Why? Because Indy was already old and the way it ended. I’m not even saying I’m disappointed if his son got killed off after this, I’m just saying Indiana Jones didn’t feel like it had anything substantial or new to offer at that point.
@@KaosNova2 true, true. Even so, they could have sent him off with some dignity, but he got the Luke Skywalker treatment as well.
She knows where the bodies are buried
She’s basically got dirt/ a clause in her contract that prevents her from getting fired or they would have to pay an OBSCENE Fee that they not only couldn’t afford financially, they can’t afford to put pride aside and look for passion rather than agenda/connections/blackmail.
Another big issue with TLJ was that it whipped the media into a frenzy, with them going after the “toxic man-babies”, which typified the “blame the fans” movement. “Star Wars fans are so entitled! They are never happy! The complain about everything! No one hates Star Wars like Star Wars fans!”
Fast forward to today, and what do they have to show for it? Toy sales down by over 60%, with pallets of them rotting for years at discount stores, news that the Disney Star Wars films only earned 1.7 Billion in profit at the box office (meaning Disney is still 2.3 Billion in the hole from a box office stance) from their $4 billion purchase of Lucasfilm 10 years later, no new Star Wars movies in nearly 5 years, $1 billion marketing push for The High Republic (which has gone nowhere), another billion into the Galactic Starcruiser Hotel (which closed in a year and a half), expensive live action series that get terrible reviews (and viewer ratings so poor that Disney doesn’t show them anymore), animated shows that are all but forgotten, and now three trailers for upcoming Star Wars projects are all massively downvoted. You have dozens of projects announced then abandoned, directors switched out and having most of their films reshot, and worse still the film starring the character nobody wants is being directed by a woman who has only done documentaries and was quoted saying “I enjoy making men uncomfortable”.
Years from now Lucasfilm will be used in business schools as a cautionary tale of what happens when you alienate your customer base. It truly is a tragic fate: what was once seen as a pinnacle of modern entertainment, a proverbial golden goose, has been destroyed, choked to death, with only the memories of better days and stories to comfort us. It breaks my heart.
It's honestly depressing seeing star wars croak like this while it could be a treasure trove of essentally bottomless wealth in the right hands. You could do stories from all over the galexy and have them be disconnected from the main line. But instead Kathleen Kennedy nuked hundreds of stories from orbit, only to bitch about not having books and comics to pull from.
Very well said DainRiffgin!
Celebrities and corporations in general these days are getting too bold. I've noticed a trend recently of corporate entities "clapping back" at the consumer, it's not just Star Wars and the entertainment industry. I've even saw companies whining at individuals on Twitter, like engaged in full-on comment section arguments, full of little passive-aggressive quips and the kind of shitty family-friendly insults you'd expect to hear in Americas hardest marketing office - the kind of insults you could easily spin into an innocent-but-naive compliment if your boss pressed you on it. And this is them talking to their customers. Ever since their kids showed them social media the situation has been rapidly deteriorating.
I don’t know how Lucas did it, but he understood how to release his movies by releasing 4 through 6 and 1 through threes years apart from one another. He understood how to make Star Wars feel special which Disney does not.
The success and the maturity of Dune is everything we wanted from the new Star Wars films.
This couldn’t have been said any better!!!!

Once messiah comes out I can definitely say the first dune trilogy is better than Star Wars OT
I made a terrible decision on May 4th, I rewatched the sequels, hoping there was some redeeming quality that I couldn't see.
If anything, those films, especially Rise of Skywalker, just show how hollow the series is now, or at least one aspect of the series, the Disney aspect.
You should have just got some Legends content.
@Infamous1892 I still read the so-called "Legends" work. Can't believe Disney made all of that hardwork non-canon and replaced it with their garbage.
I would rather binge watch the last five Steven Seagal movies than rewatch any of the sequels. The only thing missing from ep. IX was a post credits scene with Mickey Mouse giving us both middle fingers.
I did something similar.
I first rewatched the prequels in the hopes that age had redeemed them. It did. I found the prequels delightful. Flawed, but highly entertaining.
Then I watched the sequel trilogy hoping for similar results. They are just plainly not good. And worse, they’re not entertaining or rewatchable. Just a literal waste of time.
@MrHam0117 The prequels, while not perfect, took bold chances and risks, usually at the cost of some of the older fans. The sequels chose to play it safe and predictable at the cost of the rest of the fan base.
They turned it into content, not productions.
Also, forcing fans to watch multiple shows to follow one storyline is greasy stuff

I do think that all of the problems of Disneys SW started back in 2015 with the Force Awakens: its a souless and uninteresting movie. Its the definition of “Disney doesnt make Star Wars films, they make movies about Star Wars”. Just do a back track, and you will see how much damage this film made to the franchise.
Personally I love how they got busted for using a Hot Toys Palapatine on the ROS poster....and didn't change it.

@@robotzombie9 Yup for real
Lol i remember that
I can't believe they're even thinking about making a Rey movie. I guess there may be enough people out there that like the sequels but is it enough to support another "Rey can do anything" movie?
I doubt there are enough people who like the sequels. They would have to try to keep the budget to less than $150 mil to give it a chance at being profitable.
I can't wait to see how much they lose on a Rey movie and the photos of mostly empty cinemas that will be denied.
They appointed her the messiah. They had 9 films. They've filled in all the gaps around the main plot. Unless they do "Star Wars: The Sith: Pets" and have an animated show about force sensitive dachshunds, then they need probably need to propel the narrative forward and create a new plot. Then they can fill in the gaps around that for 15 years.
The movies with Rey didn’t flop like Solo, so they took it as an approval for more movies with her.
Don't forget how Ewan and people like Simon Pegg just call all fans who criticize them racists!
The OT, especially a new hope, is the reason I'm a filmmaker today. I a heartbroken I can no longer witness this...franchise.
I don’t want to watch a Star Wars that subverts expectations. I don’t want a show that favors moving away from George’s vision. His vision has lasted four decades and is the reason it lasted that long. I don’t need a tie in to the prequels. Disney has done nothing to heal their fan base, to bring them back together. Instead they’ve insulted them repeatedly for any criticism. I was like you. Kenobi was the nail and Ahsoka drove it in. Acolyte confirmed my decision. I’m out on Disney Star Wars.
Disney had a once in a generational opportunity to create their own “Lord of the Rings” trilogy in the sense of creating one cohesive story and filming all at once. This could have been the one trilogy to surpass LOTR in regards to cinematography, filmmaking, passion and respect for existing lore, and THE AUDIENCE WAS ALREADY THERE. They acquired Lucasfilm in 2012 and still could have released the movies in 2017, 18, and 19 or something.
Instead, they opted for the quick cash, knowing people would see them no matter what, and put little to no effort in them.
"Half of Star Wars fans thought The Last Jedi was a masterpiece" Really? Barely half would have thought The Force Awakens was a masterpiece. Do you remember Fin placing his hand on Reys head when climbing up - like in cartoons? If he really put weight into his hand he would have seriously injured her neck...
He's right, at the time people literally fought others who said the movie was bad
Disney really destroyed star wars.
Lucas did.
EXCELLENT WORK. MOVIE OVERLOAD DISNEY'S STAR 🌟 WARS GARBAGE
🙄No they didn’t. Rebels, Bad Batch, Clone Wars Season 7, Andor, Mando S1 & S2, and Rogue One. All of these projects are pretty good to great. Star Wars would have died if Disney didn’t save Lucasfilms.
@@dominator1914Rogue one is pathetically overrated. What's good about it? Characters have no soul. It has some cool looking scenes and yeah Darth Vader looks scary. That's literally it. That's why it gets praise. Give me episode 1 over that any day. Lucas is Star Wars and his characters and the politics around them.

I've been a SW fan for my whole live, and realizing that one is not obliged to watch every single SW thing that the mouse puts out has given me a lot of mental freedom, as well as the time to watch many actually good tv shows and movies such as hot d or succession. No need for BOBF, Kenobi or Ahsoka. Move on, guys. This is not SW. It hasn't been for a long time, and it never will. Why keep up with it then? The real SW will always be there.
Well said - I will go one step further and add I have gone from being someone who went to the movies every week on new release night for over a decade in the 90s to someone who may go once a year now- due to the garbage that Hollywood produces these days. Lucky we still have Denis Villeneuve - Dune 2 was a masterpiece (can’t wait for Rendevous with Rama)
Star Wars had so much content in the expanded universe of novels and games. What a waste!
I liked Bounty Hunter and Jedi Academy at least I didn’t have to be Luke in those games.
yep old republic era dark times/imperial era/great jedi purge era EU stuff in prequel trilogy like clone wars mulitmedia project EU stuff in Original trilogy EU stuff beyond of Original trilogy aka post return of the jedi legacy era after that this is where Expanded universe really ended and always to be Star Wars to me
George Lucas never considered the EU/Legends as canon.
@@BlakeHardeman He literally went out of his way to put EU/Legends into the Special Editions of the OT, which was totally unnecessary. He literally treated it more canon than Star Trek ever did. I have been grieving for 10 years. The Real Star Wars before Disney will live on in the fans
I have long maintained the theory that the reason George Lucas sold Star wars to Disney, and double downed recently by showing his support for the current administration, is that he knew they would make a pig's breakfast out of it, and everyone would get off his back about how bad the prequels were.
personally I already hate the EP7...
I said Disney would kill marvel and Star Wars years ago and I was right They should've stuck with kids animation. Now even their kids movies suck
Star Wars would’ve been UNSTOPPABLE by now if Disney didn’t screw up all the time

Disney has broken Star Wars so beyond repair that I honestly feel depressed just thinking about Star Wars.
They should have filmed their crap with another name, but no, they wanted to insult original fans and call them racists, mysoginists, sexists etc., for not liking stories that have nothing to do with star wars and the real conception of the Force
Just went to watch the Phantom Menace in theatre’s and my god, I forgot how exciting it used to be to go see Star Wars in theatre’s. Can’t wait to see Attack of the clones in the future.
i'll never forget back in 1999 when the Lucasfilm logo appeared on the screen and the music kicked in at the start of the phantom menace. that was an amazing cinema moment. the crowd went absolutely crazy wild. Good times!

Andor: a character with no real importance and only seen in one movie and wasn’t even the star, in a series that no one asked for, became the best series in the whole Disney EU. That’s f-ed up lol it’s also, Palpatine ironic. Lol
Maybe the Disney grand plan is giving money back to people by having them save money.

I was late to the party as well. When i watched the the last Jedi I was on the fence, then i saw the rise of skywalker i was like “wtf is this crap??” Now I have zero faith in Disney Star Wars. I expect it to suck.
Finn was always insinuated to be Force sensitive since Episode 7. It's just that all the other movies after that F'd it up.
Disney fooled us into thinking Finn was going to be the lead character-s Stormtrooper who becomes a Jedi. The commercials had Finn being the first character to be revealed. And then the bait and switch. Finn becomes the Star Wars Simp for Rey.
Besides, it's destroyed for cheap politics; we all grow up. Man, the alien designs in Star Wars look so childish and like bad Halloween costumes. Aren't Ahsoka's tails so goofy?
No they aren't, the ugly sluggish actress playing ahsoka is the unbelievable part.
I will always love Star Wars and I refuse to allow it to be ruined for me. The best Star Wars content right now is the animation. Clone Wars, Rebels, The Bad Batch, and Tales of the Jedi are great! Tales of the Empire was ok.
I disagree rebels is okay bad batch is mediocre tales of the jedi is average and tales of the empire good but disappointing
Is No Debate that Disney Buying Star Wars from Lucas was was how the Franchise was left in Darkness and because of the Sequel Trilogy the Damages are so Deeply Painful to Watch.
All I want is either a Star Wars show or a movie, “Shadows of the Empire.” Even based on the N64 game and should make Dash Rendar a cool-driven character alongside Andor. That could happen, but they didn't want that.
If not, then I would make this series instead of what Disney can do. It could be a fun and amazing fan-favorite Star Wars entertainment.
Your views on Star Wars is my view on the MCU, I was so hooked and keen on every movie to come out and after end game I was excited to see what direction they would take moving forward and I've been nothing but disappointed.
Even though I was frustrated leading up to it, Obi-Wan was my breaking point and I haven’t looked back since. Interesting video and I hope it gets better for anyone still watching.
The rerelease of Phantom Menace out grossed most of the new releases last weekend. Says it all.
I still don't trust the box office numbers for any Disney Star Wars movie
I remember being ecstatic when Disney bought Star Wars. I thought with George Lucas being retired , So was Star War. I remember saying “any Star Wars is good Star Wars”. Now I flat refuse to watch any new Star Wars.
But it makes me thankful too.. at least we still have the old stuff..
what really sucks is how disney pushed back against the dissatisfied fandom to the breaking point... the point that even the general audience is apathetic and enthusiasm is in the sub-levels of energy. now that public stock on WDC has plummeted to near-worthlessness, they NOW decide to pivot, and the change in tone feels disingenuous. great essay, btw, it pretty much sums up how i believe most of the fans feel...
Welcome to the club. Acceptance is the first step to recovery.
They can't ruin what came before them, but Disney killed any new Star Wars when they didn't follow the story Lucas gave them for the sequels. Whatever that script was, it was the real story and we didn't get it.
I still love Star Wars but not because of Disney. But because of Dave Filoni. Many of the Star Wars projects he personally took part in never failed to make me feel like I was in a universe were George Lucas never sold to Disney.
It's not the inclusion of cameos that is making the new stuff bad, it's the RELIANCE on those cameos to get people to watch. And this isn't just a star wars issue, but one with Marvel as well and it shows that it is in fact a Disney problem.
I really miss star wars man, I replayed Jedi fallen order and I'm now replaying survivor and man those games remind me of what star wars can be. I really miss being excited for Star Wars. It was my place to escape to when I needed to get away from the world, now I don't have it anymore and I'm trying to fill the hole with other IP's like Fallout, Power Rangers, etc.. There isn't a day that goes by where I don't pray that Star Wars will be brought back from the grave but I'm starting to feel that's just wishful thinking and me being gullible.
It was destroyed (and made bad) on purpose.
We saw the films brother, we don’t need an essay.
also you seem to have spared JJ abrams from the thumbnail
So I just got finiahed watching the orginal trilogy for May the 4th. And I've begun to discover why we love it so much. It's not just the lightsabers, the space battles, heck not even the effects. It's the awe and wonder. Listening to Yoda talk about the Force to Luke in Empire felt like a teacher giving a life changing lesson to his student. And the dialogue didn’t feel cheap, it felt authentic. Like this character really believed in the power of the Force and the effect it had on the Galaxy and the world. That's what Star Wars today is missing that awe that wonder. We got invested in Star Wars because it felt like we were in a whole new world. But now, it just feels like kids playing Star Wars real life. Where Lightsabers are just plastic sticks and our spaceships are just your Dad's old pickup truck with cardboard wings duct taped to it. Disney made Star Wars feel like exactly what it is. Fake, unreal and for children. There's no awe and wonder there, they try their darn hardest to remind you that you can't escape real life. Instead of trying to make a fake world feel like real life. George Lucas always had his head in the clouds, constantly thinking of new ideas for his future Star Wars movie. But Disney, their head isn't in the clouds It's in their a$$.
Have to say that outside the theatrical releases I haven't caught any Disney Star Wars, largely because I'm not nine any more and have simply outgrown it. But a large part of the current problems are that it is treated as a franchise and in modern Disney terms that is to squeeze every last drop of blood from whatever they own. Disney's business model has, for a long time, been to make a movie and, if successful, a sequel, after that they keep on pumping out product with the inevitable diminishing returns.
Force awakens was a chore to get through, still it was fun hearing the whole audience in the cinema laughing out loud when Daisy Ridley was able to match Adam Driver in combat. Rogue One was an absolute blast especially that third act. TLJ would have to be one of the worst movies ever put on film, how did it ever get the green light let alone get released?
Andor S2 will hopefully be just as good or better that S1, so that's hopefully something to look forward to with some hope
Andor was shite. It had two good episodes.
The one major issue Disney made about Star wars was that they deliberately ruined the Lightsaber physics, the choreography fight scenes and such
In Ernest Hemingway’s novel, The Sun Also Rises, one character questions another on how he went bankrupt. The answer: “Two ways. Gradually, then suddenly.”
So, for May the 4th me and the fam watched episodes 1-2 and yesterday we watched episode 3. And I couldnt help but get emotional for 2 reasons. 1 Episode 3 is so good, and those fights are god tier. Ewan and Hayden really just give an all out performance physically in those fights. The respect to the lore and craft and everything is on full display on the mustafar fight. 2 it respects the OG trilogy and is a good bridge to go to episode 4 (My 8 yr old son literally said “Can we watch episode 4 now” after finishing episode 3) 3 it sucks because in the new stuff, you see so much disrespect in the current star wars era. Besides a few things Favreu and Filoni have touched. And it sucks. Me and my family love disneyland. And even star wars land is just the new crap. Idk. It sucks. And what disney has done can not be done. I dont even want to show my kids the new trilogy because it just doesnt compare. IDK.
I have to say, I try not to be a cancel person, but knowing the unspeakable acts Ms Headlund is guilty of, I find it very difficult to imagine supporting any project she is involved in. I wonder what happened to Metoo?
I’ve never hated Star Wars as much as I do now. They are doing nothing with the brand. They are so out of touch and stubborn they genuinely think that they can outlive the old fans but the thing is you gotta cultivate a new fan base to replace the old and they can’t even do that.
Great video! Spitting nothing but facts for 18 straight minutes. I was exacly like you, thinking I could never not love Star Wars, until Kenobi. That was my breaking point. I haven't even bothered watching anything since then except Mando S3. I'm glad to see more and more people are waking up.
I remember right as soon as EA Star Wars Battlefront 2 started getting really good they ended all development out of nowhere, we can’t have anything nice with this franchise
No one hates Star Wars more than actual Star Wars fans, it’s so sad to not feel excitement anymore for this franchise
Such a stupid fucking quote 😂 Sheep repeating this have 0 critical thinking. Star Wars fans Love Star Wars, they hate the shitty writing that disney keeps producing.
This statement is kinda dumb tbh. What it really means is "passionate fans are passionate of the thing they are fans of". So if you have a massive franchise that creates a bad product, obviously the ones who care the most will be the most upset about this (aka, fans).
I feel total apathy when I realised that nothing since the original trilogy was anything other than terrible. What sucks is that they don't even sell anything other than the special edition of the OT, which is garbage.
@@TFedits85The problem is that Star Wars isn’t being made by actual fans of the genre.
It’s being made by people who are fans of themselves. That’s why I won’t watch “starwarstheory”. Dude is a plant.
And that’s a fact.
@@inthefadeIdk man, Andor is pretty close to even as good as the OT. But bedsides, what’s with all of this Star Wars Purist BS?
Laser swords! That doesn't carry it anymore, it should be over.
If I had a platform to express my current feelings about the state of the Star Wars franchise, I would say basically the very same things you just said; almost verbatim. Thank you for making this video. There is some solace in knowing you’re not the only one.
Disney CEO just openly called this “mining” in an earnings call.
In obi wan kenobi: the infamous laser gate fiasco….. I genuinely thought that he was shooting the ate because he was going to use the transport to drive away. But he didn’t . wtf?!
I can't believe they fked up Boba Fett. He was the favorite Star Wars character for a lot of people
100% correct I am of the generation that watched Star Wars at the cinema when it first came out and then agonisingly waited until the others were released slowly one by one, I introduced my son, nieces and nephews to this amazing universe but now I can't bare to watch it
Who the hell said the last Jedi was a masterpiece? Was that the one with Luke drinking an alien cows milk? LOL
Good video, sad video. I agree completely that the franchise has just declined and settled at some commercial lowest common denominator. Hiring directors that don't know the IP says it all- zero care beyond the dollars. I also feel similarly apathetic about what's coming out next (apart from Andor season 2). I write this as a huge fan of the original films and the clone wars etc, collected the vintage toys etc. I'm not sure how or if things can really turn around for the better. Therapy session over 😅
Join us in the Star Wars EU. No bs, no stress. Ignore everything else. It's been my path to peace.
I’m a 50 year Star Wars fan. I was there as a small boy to see A New Hope at the cinema back in the 70’s. I still haven’t seen Rise of Skywalker and probably never will. I simply don’t care anymore.
Lucas destroyed star wars by selling the franchise to Disney.
Jedi Fallen & Survivor keeps me optimistic.
😤 "How "DARE!!" you give (Headland) a.k.a. "WATER-HEAD 💦 BABY 🍼!" credit for (Anything) worth "NOTHING!"
The reason why clowns wear makeup is so that we don't confuse them with the REAL CLOWNS that don't. 😊
They shit on the past movies and lore and just let every director and writers do their own thing.
They made Luke and Han who were legends of our childhoods into a bunch of crying bitches and then they killed them both off
They hired a bunch of writers and directors who are not star wars fans and played none of the starwars games, read non of the hundreds of starwars books. they understand nothing about why the fans love star wars so much
They hired a bunch of activists who want to express their politics instead of telling a good story for the fans
They did not have a clear story arch or character development across all three movies...each movie felts like it was trying to be something else and nothing was connected...
and worst of all...Disney refuses to acknowledge any of these massive failures and they continue to run the same play over and over again and are stubborn...they think if they throw enough money into production and advertising, add in some nostalgia bombs and have fancy lightsaber fights that it will be an instant billion dollar hit
The Rise of Skywalker actually LOST money. UK Tax credits reveal it cost half a billion in production. Add in another 150 in marketing and cut the box office in half to account for the theaters cut, TROS lost money in the boxoffice.
lol no they didn’t
@@michaelmartino16 Yes. They did. People have done the research. In order to qualify for UK Tax credits you have to report the actual budget of the film. That budget was 554 million. (As calculated by the pound to dollar exchange from about 7 months ago). These tax records are public record and one only need to figure out the code name of the production (which is very easy considering how few sizable productions are going on that correspond to the date). Carbanado Inustries was the name used for The Rise of Skywalker. Now, as I said, the reason we know that is because they are getting a UK tax credit. So the get back around 100 of that. Even so, we are still at 600 all-in with marketing. Domestic theaters take about 45% of box office revenue while international (not counting China which takes 75% of box office revenue) takes 55%. So in order to safely break even, TROS would have needed to finish in the 1.2 billion range. It did not.
@@asparapee4213 even using your theory, I looked at an article from Jedi Temple Archive that calculates all of your variables and they have Rise of Skywalker making 90 million.
@@michaelmartino16 I don't know what to tell you. The numbers I used are the numbers Disney reported to the UK government. So unless you think Disney is lying to the UK government, I'm going to go with Disney over some internet site.
Hiring a bunch of freaks who would rather put your ideal believes and show propaganda rather than have a good story with characters we actually love and care about. There i summoned up what killed majority of Star Wars and probably many other franchises.
As someone who has enjoyed a decent amount of the stuff Disney has put out, I completely understand and agree with how out of touch and backwards they're treating this franchise. We need new stories that are focused on being good stories that add to Star Wars and not cameofests, I want to look forward to Star Wars again because this franchise is so special and it needs the love and care that projects like Andor have gotten.
what do you think about the bad batch? I really enjoyed it. It felt cosy and added a lot of law to the universe!
I think mediocre not as good as rebels or The clone wars
The last episode was just like eh but good overall
Star Wars or precisely Disney Star Wars died for me when apathy began. I felt that more than ever before with the last 2 Acolyte trailer. Nothing and i mean absolutely nothing makes me excited about this new show. I watched the trailers and felt just empty. Same with the upcoming ubisoft game. So yeah Star Wars that i loved more than any other ip out there is dead to me. Time to move on^^
Fair enough. Go live your life the way you want to. The Force will be with you, always. 👍
@@Skaiser_Wilhelm7938 thx man. I will 😉
To this day I still don’t understand why Disney didn’t just use the legacy books to base the new sequels movies & TV shows on. There were so many amazing stories.
I will never understand the hype for J J Abrams when The Force Awakens came out. Did the entire world collectively forget the train wreck that was Lost?
I thought LOST was a good show with plenty of interesting mysteries until it got really weird with time travel and ended with no payoff. I still remember the LOST lottery numbers to this day. I think what Disney did with LucusArts was more telling of the brand. In 2013 two years before TFA, Electronic Arts (EA) signed a 10-year deal exclusive rights deal that made sure that we would be way less likely to get good Star Wars games ever again.
Star Wars has become nothing but a platform to raise Disney's DEI score.
