How Funk Band Vulfpeck Took On Spotify | CNBC
honestly tho Jack is an interviewers nightmare
It almost feels like someone's talking in his earpiece the way he pauses all the time
Narduawar vs Vulfpeck
I think it’s an interviewers’ job to make the interviewees talk whatever animals they got.
yes. and I love it
He’s like a white Richard Ayoade
MY PLEASURE LET'S ROCK
That moment when snarky becomes annoying.
mastermind
He can wear a suit ironically, now that's impressive
I'm gonna go ahead and assume he was wearing his trademark shorts, socks and sneakers under there, and that the background was a green screen they put up in their living room studio.
With the tie deliberately askew
every awkward silence planned with precision ..
I'm getting that vibe but can you expand.. He isn't just this awkward im hoping... It comes off that he thinks he is superior to the main stream news network. While he may be a genius and superior to him in terms of musicianship, I found his attitude to be that he thinks he is SO FAR OUT and just KNOWS MORE and really just a lack of HUMILITY and etiquette. I'm really into all these young new UBER talented musicians cropping up on CZcams, but if the "future of music" is just cocky hipsters who think they are better than everyone else while actually stumbling through an interview and sending a mixed message. I think I get the intention and while it does speak to a millenial, ironic, hipster, superior, indie anti-establishment, BULL SHI*, then that, my friends, is not the pinnacle of human awareness.
sometimes IT'S JUST NICE TO BE NICE.
By being articulate, grateful, and showing respect, I think the impression wouldn't have left such a mixed taste in my mouth. And yes I listen to them and many other talented musicians that aren't on the dumb-as* radio....doesn't mean I need to be a dic* about it or think I am so alternative that I must be on some other level to the "super main stream straight edge idiots"who watch the news...AKA literally millions of people.
ORRRRR in the case that he is really not playing a part, and is truly just this inept at human interaction.....then uhh, I'm glad he has a career in music and has found his niche bc this ain't it.
@@I_scooter_fast to concisely and seriously address your comment - respect is earned, not given, and nightly news networks have proven time and time again that they aren't worthy of it. there is an inherent power asymmetry when someone is brought on a show like this - they're not brought there to expound on a multifaceted and complex issue, they're there to be pigeonholed into their perceived "controversial" position or role within the story by the anchor. as such there is absolutely no reason to treat the medium with respect. you may as well be silly
Uhhhhh, this is scripted btw
@kdt I see that too. Yeah it may not be that bad and I'm definitely looking pretty far into it which I tend to do lol. But I still believe he might have alienated possible fans with the attitude. But yeahz I agree their music is great and they are pure and talented musicians who appreciate or respect music itself for sure!! Haha I'm surprised how many comments my random rant got. Nice !
it's called Satellite Delay but alright...
Sleepify was dope. You had to really listen for it but the funk was there. It's in the spaces in between the notes.
It was really low volume too
It was in the space between the spaces, too!
is it available for download anywhere?
People should ACTUALLY buy the albums to fully support their favorite artists.
If an artist can put a blank piece of paper in an art museum then Jack should be able to sell sleepify.
You SHANT maketh the money
Jack is literally just pulling all of this out of his ass when he is answering. The man didn't care about any corporate model, he just wanted to fund the tour.
in another interview he says he did rehearse a bit for this, though i agree the man has one golden ass
@@LachClark You got a link to that interview?
@@evanc.1591 czcams.com/video/hzuECM4AI28/video.html
@@garrettc786 nice, thanks!
@@garrettc786 just listened it all the way through... when does he State it?
After watching this interview more than once, I am wholly convinced not even Jack himself understood the words coming out of his mouth.
"....so the whole thing is jacked." - Jack
Lmao
Let’s focus on the fundamentals. Bounce pass, jump shop, pick and roll ya know, that kinda stuff.
best part
We dont deserve jack
You aint got jack
Yes we do.
I don't know how he kept composure during that whole thing. This man...Is operating on a level that I previously could only imagine. He IS the weapon to surpass Metal Gear
I can't understand him with all those obscure references and layered meanings
He speaks the way he produces music lololol
A lot of what he says that sounds like references are not references at all lol
The interviewers are so desperate to get something understandable out of him. So good.
My jazz teacher always said, "If less is more, than nothing is everything."
Sleepify was everything.
watching his brain kick it into high gear once the words "litty lemonade" exited him was a high I never knew I'd find
“Shan’t Make Money” is my new record label.
just like funk living in the spaces between the notes, the funk lived in the spaces between Jack's answers

Now I love Vulfpeck even more.
Jack, I think you made your point, over time" - well thank you allowing him, over time, to make his point...
I lol'd
Oh, he punked you guys. I'm crying. Oh, man. That's hilarious. He's so brilliant!
yeah but, they're on his side. why would he punk them?
Vulf has the best PR, it attracts fans
It's a scripted segment. If you thought it was a legitimate interview, you are the one who got 'punked'.
Funked
Jack is now my spirit animal; this interview was amazing.
Nah, Jack is your animal spirit
BazzyOperationz ayyyyyyyy
he's years ahead hahaha
Duncan Jones no, the mainstream has just regressed intellectually.
Publicity is the game, and jack is the master.
Litty lemonade 😂
Jack is speakin to us from different dimension
That example of WholeFoods is spot on.
The whole system is jacked ! 😂
It wasn't enough that I love his band? Now this dude has to become my spirit animal. Just another reason to love Vulfpeck and all it's incarnations.
"this isn't lipitor"
3:00 - 3:30 is so good
This is my favourite CNBC interview EVER
Love how he played a character yet kept it real! 😂😂😂
He has such a way with words
My favorite is "corrose" profit. Which, you have to catch carefully as he stumbles through explaining loss and gains. @1:15
How is Jack keeping such a straight face??
He's dead serious. Stop whining, him.
Thank you for the interview cnbc. Glad to hear some coverage in the music scene. More would be appreciated.
I’m nearly 3 years late to this video. This should go down as one of humanity’s greatest accomplishments in awkwardness. Just brilliant. 😂
Stop whining......me!
Jack in a suit... lol
DJ B. Nornish♥️
Came back from the future to say that DJ Bean Ornish slaps, me and all my ape friends enjoy it
Lmao how did they not know this man was is a legit troll
Jack is streets ahead
Stratton's use of silence throughout this video was chef's kiss, right? Wasn't that the premise?
Ok, he trolled me too. I was pumped, and this made no got dammed sense.
all you need to know is that the artist shant make money
Genius! I love these guys!
best interview ive ever seen
4:03 The whole thing is J A C K E D
A friend is a songwriter and has songs on Spotify in 2023. He gets 1 one hundredth of 1 penny every time his song is played. Jack got 60 hundredths 5 years ago. Same thing on CZcams. In some cases people that used to get paid by CZcams are now being asked to PAY to POST their content. It's like being in a band and going from Club Owners paying you to play the club to you Renting the club and charging a cover charge to make money.
They pulled a Pootie Tang 2.0! Kudos!!!
is this real lmao
Matthew Osterman Yes!!!
@@enyonamdzathor2298 we have reached levels of epicness never thought achievable
MY BOI!
This is so funny I shanted.
This is all he knows
fourth position!
I recommend Steve... with a headband
Christian C Steve, Steve, Steve Steve Steve
If you really wanna get into it...
Jack.....I understood everything you Got damn said.....Everything!!!!!!
I love the way he talks 😂🤣
GENIUS
The whole thing is JACKED. I see what you did there jack
Yo Jack Literally Broke The System Of Spotify
that is the magic !! : ) Stevie Wonder : ) !!!
Jack should have done the interview in his redshirt, white shorts, white tube socks with the red stripes, and sneakers. Is he staying in L.A., the backdrop is Echo Park Lake where I got fishing for fun. If so, please put on a show for us Angelinos.
FOURTH POSITION!!
Bounce pass
Jump shot
Pick n' roll
*Fundamentals*
This story is soooooooooooo cooooooooool ❤ I love you guys Vulfpeck
This... This is my favorite CZcams video
HE GOD
I love these fellas
lets pity Spotify vulfpeck rules !!!
what an honest guy. refreshing. so likable.
jack trying to keep himself together at 4:51 hahaha
If I may make a statement: It is NOT weird to save bacon fat, and save it in your fridge, and then fry eggs in it.
Vulfpeck is on a league of it’s own! It’s YEAAAARS ahead! They are the Tesla of music!
bruh he planned the whole thing LOLL
He's brilliant
Ik I love him
The pun “ The whole thing is Jacked”
Classic move
Oldest trick in the Stratton playbook
Stopp whining. No more government substotives for active Basses XDD lol 4:42
He looks so SILLY in a suit hahahaha
Welcome to the conscious club
He seems so awkward. He just likes music
Jack is the opposite of articulate in this interview. I still understand his point though.
I feel that the stumbling is also part of the act. Make you feel like he is unsure of himself, and then "bam" he hits you with some sarcastic material so deep. He's doing it to slow down the listener to make them actually listen to the words that he is saying, but also read between the lines.
yo its 2018 y'all
nah bruh , its 2020
The suit and tie confused the tv bonobos.
Either Jack was really tired, or he really REALLY doesn’t like the news.
Are Vulfpeck based in Detroit? That looks like the skyline....that expression at the end though, like: 'Yeah, I got them"....
i want what he was on jesus man was on another planet
fin I can get you some if you want some ;)
DJ B-Nournish
no more government subsidies for active basses
This reads like the Ocean's 11 script
Do you like the movie? I see how the pausing and the interruptions are pretty spot on but I just don't understand if you're saying that the script is a jumbled mess or if the intentional awkwardness mimics those moments where Clooney and Pitt have full on conversations without ever finishing their sentences.
Sorry I'm so late to seeing this comment but I've only ever watched the version of this interview from Vulf's channel, not CNBC
Too cool for school
Jack Stratton's jacked mind🍋🍋🍋🐺
5 minutes without saying " nothing" is actually difficult !
Jack “stop whining... me” Stratton
Whole interview got Jack-ed
very cryptic indeed
This was hilarious.
Is it me or everybody just laughs about it but to actually take on Spotify is a big thing. Nobody does anything while spotify makes millions over the music of ill-paid artists. Glad CNBC to a note though...
Such a great interview, Jack is a clever one
